They seem very sturdy. But if you have a cat, make sure you snip off all the hanging strings of melted plastic—if your cat eats them, that’s a linear foreign body, and that can easily kill your cat. (Dogs have less of a problem with this, but it still wouldn’t be a bad idea to cut them off for dogs!!) ... show more

Rubbermaid brand totes are by far the most durable totes of this style. They do not crack or split like some other brands do. The decades old ones I have are still going strong. I have even used them for sauna firewood storage without any breaking. The medium sized / 14 gallon ones are the sweet spot for my use. Big enough to hold most things yet compact enough to easily fit on a shelf or in the car. The lids snap easily and securely. These are my favorite tote. They are durable even moved extensively. Have never had them crack even with heat and cold. Take them camping and store them in my hot attic. The sizes offered and how they stack is very useful. Highly recommend them.

These bins are the real deal. I use them for long-term storage in a shared building space, and they’ve held up beautifully. They stack neatly, don’t warp under pressure, and the lids stay secure — as long as you don’t overfill. They’re tough, water-resistant, and I’ve never had an issue with pests. I added my own color-coded labels to organize by category (kitchen, seasonal, etc.), which made the whole space feel instantly more functional and calm.     • Okay, just not as good as they once were - loose lid issue

TL;DR: Generally as good as you'd expect from past experience if you've had them from the "before times." Tolerances are not as good, so the lids do not snap on tight. Still worth it since they are not found in stores. -------------------------- Like many others, I have had these totes for years. I, too, noticed that you can't find them in stores anymore, so I bought the 6-pack of 10-gallon blue totes. The totes appear to be the same general quality, possibly a bit thinner, with the desirable slight flex as my older ones have. My issue is with the lids: they do not all snap together with the tote body with that same positive click/lock as I expected. 4 of 6 are good, 1 is so-so, and 1 is no-go. My order came with 7 lids and 6 totes, which leads me to believe that they may know this and tossed in a free lid to help make up for poor manufacturing processes. Hard to say with a sample size of 1. I mixed and matched all of the pieces until I got to the 4-1-1 ratio. I'd say that they are still some of the best options out there. The size is just right so as to not overload and the ergonomics are about as good as can be. I can overlook the issue with the lids since, for me, they will not be used to transport items like tools, materials, anything else on a regular basis. If I do need to move them, I can use a bungie to secure the lid. ... show more
