Description

The Rubbermaid Commercial BRUTE Rollout Trash/Recycling Can with Hinged Lid is the industry leader in waste and material handling applications. These seamless rectangular bins are constructed of durable polyethylene with a hinged lid, integrated handle, and inset wheels. Heavy-duty polyethylene weighs less than aluminum or steel and resists cracking. The hinged lid open fully and locks against the trash/recycling bins. A molded-in axle retainer adds strength while inset wheels make the bin maneuverable and help prevent damage to walls and doorways. A molded-in catch bar makes the trash/recycle bins compatible with automated and semi-automated lift systems for curbside garbage and recycling collection. This trash/recycle bin contains an ultraviolet (UV) stabilizer to help prevent fading and discoloring.

When I purchased this container, I was very impressed with the standard of delivery, the packaging and the UPS man's matching brown/yellow uniform. He whistled his thanks when I gave him a fifty cent gratuity. All went well until I unpacked the container and then I noticed the lurid blue color!!!!! Sorry but I can't live with this color, it reminds me too much of French street furniture. I just cannot stomach this hue ever since a very unsatisfying trip to La Belle France to visit lesser known Chateaus of the Loire Valley. I realized that I could not return this item for such a spurious reason so I have decided to cut my losses and simply throw it out. Here's the problem.........I must have insulted my garbage collectors some where along the way because they will not take it away. Every time I put it out for collection, they simply ignore it. They take everything else but always leave this one item. I even tried putting it in a large see through plastic so they understood that it could be re-cycled (they can sometimes be very touchy if you put things in the wrong bags, I think it's the Unions or maybe the Mafia, I don't know. One time, they refused to take away a box full of empty catfood tins, even though I hand washed each one of them so they didn't smell because they were in the wrong color plastic bag) but even though it was the right colored plastic, they just stood and laughed at it before continuing with their round. Two weeks ago, I left it outside but I had written on the side, in very large letters, in an extra wide italic Sharpie, "GARBAGE" but like they always do, they simply lifted the lid, pretended to look inside before non-chalently walking away. I have phoned 311 on many occasions but they must have got caller id and I always get a recorded message. I feel so aggrieved and one of these days I am going to confront these garbage workers and say look, the way things are going, you won't be getting any of my home-made pistachio maccaroons this holiday period. I will give them one last chance and next Wednesday, this Rubbermaid is going to be kerbside and if it is not picked up, I might have to do something drastic a la Occupy Wall Street and chain it to a road sign ... show more
