I've bought a number of 'rubber' mats recently, and many have been harder and more plastic-like than expected. This one is a typical rubber feel. Edges do curl quite a bit. I wanted to give this product a great review since it is so heavy duty and suited my needs perfectly. I bought it to use as a wrap for a hardwood panel to support a landmind fixture in my home gym, for which it did great - except for the horrible, nauseating smell from the rubber off-gassing. I had hoped it was only temporary and the smell would either wear off or I’d go “nose blind” to it but that never happened, it just got worse even with a high quality air filter running next to it for 24 hours straight. The end result for me is that this product should not be used in enclosed spaces or indoors. I would highly recommend it for well ventilated areas, open garages or open air facilities due to its robust build and ease of use - however I would absolutely NOT recommend it for inside your home. I looked up the material (styrene butadiene, also known as SBR or SBR rubber), and it is a relatively commonly used material yet it has not been studied very much for any possible toxicity as far as I can find. So for these 2 reasons I will be repurposing it for something outdoors, but I cannot use it in my home gym as planned. I still recommend it, but not at 5 stars. TLDR: NO for indoors / enclosed spaces YES for outdoors / open air rooms or facilities ... show more
