I ordered this bike in size 14” and size 16.” This review is for the 16” bike. This requires assembly, but even a child could put this together. I had a preschooler and kindergartener put it together and just told them what to do and tightened the bolts for them. The only issue that we encountered was the front fork was too narrow, it looks like it was manufactured with poor or no quality control. The problem is the fork was about a full pencil width too narrow to install the wheel correctly. I tried pushing it on anyway, but the gap was too big and it just got caught on the bearing lock. I ended up fixing it by putting the bike on the floor upside down, getting gloves, grabbing the fork with both hands, and pulling the bars in opposite directions very briefly as hard as I could. It opened it up enough to fix the problem. I had considered pushing on one bar, and pulling on the other end, but was worried it might bend just one side if I didn’t apply even pressure. The fork is made of carbon steel and is thick, so you’d have to be really strong to split the fork in half doing this. One thing that was odd is that I ordered this Royalbaby/Chipmonk bike in size 14” (last year’s model) and 16” (this year’s model), and the size 14 included handle breaks and a bell, but the size 16 did not include any handle breaks or a bell. I guess this year’s model is just cutting costs to save money. Both bikes include “Chipmonk” decals on the front and sides of the frame. The size 16 lets you lower and raise both the handlebar and the seat, so my suggestion is to start with size 16 as a beginner/first bike for a three-year-old. The size 12 or 14 is so small it will get immediately replaced as soon as they learn to pedal. Without handle breaks, the only way to stop is to pedal backwards. This bike is pretty heavy and the wheels are quite wide, so while it’s easier to stay balanced, it’s hard to pedal or go anywhere faster than your typical walking speed. In summary, this bike is fine for a toddler first learning to ride. There’s no handle breaks or bell anymore, but it works fine, the wheels were balanced, and the bike as a quick release to raise or lower the height. Just be prepared to have to deal with poor QC issues during assembly. ... show more

Got this for my son on his 4th birthday. He loves it! Especially because its his favorite color - RED!! My husband and I got it set up in about a half hour. We have an issue getting the front wheel on because a piece was bent, but we were able to fix it. We also had to go out and buy a washer because we were missing one in the package. I really wanted to love this bike. I’m big on reading reviews, and I spent so much time researching the perfect bike for my daughter’s Christmas present. I finally decided to buy this one and was so excited that I caught it on sale and received quickly. When I opened the box to put it together, I noticed the front wheel was not assembled on the frame. As I was attempting to attach the wheel to the frame, I noticed the front “fork” of the frame was bent. It was bent to the point that the wheel could not be assembled. The box that it was shipped in was not damaged, so I believe this is a manufacturing/welding issue. Not only was that disappointing. I contacted RoyalBaby’s customer service line, spoke to an actual person and was told to email the company about my defective bike. Well, that email was sent. Have I received any response? Unfortunately, no. Bike is in the process of being returned. Guys, think twice before buying. Hopefully other parents who have this model aren’t waiting until Christmas Eve and finding this issue. ... show more

We ordered this bike for our 3 year old to learn how to ride, without training wheels. I wanted him to not have a "crutch" when learning and thought this would be a perfect fit. I researched the other bikes on Amazon as far as safety, ease of putting together, appearance and decided on this beauty...I do not regret it! Our toddler got it for Christmas and LOVES it! The seat is the perfect height, the wheels are small enough to keep it low to the ground, but big enough for him to ride on the dirt without getting bogged down. With his helmet on, it took him about 2 minutes to learn how to ride for the first time (he had a Chillafish Balance Bike before this). I highly recommend this bike to anybody looking to get their kids riding early and building confidence. ... show more
