    • The most blanket like rug
Three stars because this rug meets my expectations (based off of other reviews) but doesn't necessarily exceed them. This is a low pile, faux fur rug that is very slippery (partner keeps making joking comments about how this is going to kill him.) It is very much like a super soft faux fur blanket except it has the barest amount of rug backing (and I do mean the barest) to keep the blanket situated. So far the edges haven't been kicked up, and I think on hardwoods it shouldn't slip, however the rug backing could have a bit more grip. I could see taking this to a laundromat to use the biggest washer on cold temp, and then gentle fluff drying or line drying. It is a very nice color, but yes it is more of a gray blue (which I prefer.) I didn't notice too much of a tie dye effect. There's very slight color differences in the rug. It's an interesting rug. I think I'll be interested, as I wash it, if it loses some of the slickness without becoming very matted from being a faux fur. I will update stars if there's any changes. Edit: I'm upgrading this to four stars. It has been washed twice in the washer and, despite my washer being kind of a crybaby, this rug was light enough to NOT make the basin knock around to where I have to run over and stop the machine, repositioning it. I'm actually considering getting a second one for my in-laws who's senior dog is unfortunately having incontinence issues. I feel that having this could help limit (though not completely eliminate) carpet issues, and it is easily cleaned at home and light enough for a senior to put in a washer and hang dry. I would not want to put this in a dryer unless you trust your gentle cycle to be 0% heat. I also line-dried it twice and it dried pretty fast (though it is hot here.) The faux fur in some parts stuck together, weirdly, but I was able to pull it apart without any faux fur being detached. I like doing little "snow angels" on the rug and my partner really likes it (and normally they're pretty picky or ambivalent about stuff like this.) I have not tried brushing the rug yet but I'll probably try it with a boar bristle brush to help fluff the pile a little. WOW WOW WOW, love this rug. I had gotten another like it recently that I was so impressed with and that my dogs LOVED. This rug, again we have a smash hit winner. It is light weight but heavy enough so it does not roll up as you walk on it. It is super soft and fluffy. As you can see from the photos I managed to get 1 photo of the rug before one of my dogs came in and took up residency on it. I did have a spill on it, dropped half a cup of coffee. It cleaned up surprisingly easily. Just used a few damp paper towels than dried it with a few more and I was done. You cannot put this rug in a washing machine, hand cleaning is required. The color is great, love this mix of blue and grey together, it works really well. It almost looks and feels like what you might imagine walking on clouds would be. I am very happy with this rug, my dogs love it. When you get yours, I think you will love it too!!! Enjoy. UPDATE: I have had this rug for many months now, it still looks and feels just as soft. It continues to be one of my dogs most favorite places to sit and enjoy there afternoon treat on. This rug gets the afternoon sun shinning on it, so it has direct light for several hours. I am happy to report that it has not faded at all, nor has the pile on it become matted or lost any of its softness. I've had these types of shag rugs before, and while there are benefits, there are also some major drawbacks with all of them, I've found. This one is no exception. Of course they're so soft and plush, especially when it's new and clean, you can hardly help wanting to sit on it or roll around on it. My dogs are obsessed with it, or at least they were right at first. The problem is, these rugs are so hard to clean. There's something about these synthetic fibers that's almost.... *sticky*. Once stuff gets down into those strands, the rug is not going to give it up without a fight. In my experience, even a good vacuum cleaner can only win a few battles, but not the war. Unless you have an absolutely pristine house with no pets, no kids, nothing but concrete sidewalks outside and nobody ever tracking in dirt, these rugs just don't last all that long. Mine isn't quite there yet, but another few months and I won't be able to even pretend it's clean anymore. Aside from the hard to clean issue, please keep in mind these rugs are very slippery - they should NOT be in any houses with elderly people or anyone who's not fully able-bodied. Walking on the rug in both socks and bare feet, I've nearly slid a few times. So, fluffy and cozy when they're brand new, but don't expect to keep it for more than a year. They're probably best for dorm rooms, first apartments, kid's rooms, places you can expect to change them out frequently. ... show more
