    • Worth the money?
This is our third set of sheets we've purchased. First the Chateau 800 Thread Count sheets. They were thick and very solid and when washed up got nice a wrinkly as pure cotton should. By the way, the way they make sheets wrinkle resistant is with a chemical. If that's what you want, please, do not complain about these sheets. They do not deserve to be downgraded because YOU want chemicals in your Long Staple cotton sheets!!! We returned the Chateau because they not only shrank considerably (we couldn't get the corners down to the bottom of our 16" mattress) but their topsheet is WAY too narrow (King). They are a good 6-8" too narrow. Still, the Chateau were very nice sheets. Thick, durable, soft after a handful of washings...very well made. Even had an elastic reinforcement half way down the pockets. Nobody else has that. The Royal 1000 Thread Count sheet set is a very high quality 100% long staple cotton with NO chemical treatment for wrinkle resistance. The bottom elastic on the fitted sheets (Split King - 2 Twin XL fitted sheets) is quite robust, thick and very elastic. The pockets will not fit anything taller than 16". After one washing they barely fit, and I mean barely. But, once you can stretch it to the bottom of the mattress the elastic takes it from there and keeps the fitted sheet in place. So, high marks for how the bottom is constructed. We bought the Gray and it is a mid-gray color and it seems just a bit "warm", very nice. As for the fabric, of the three (Pizuna, Chateau and Royal) they probably have the highest quality fabric. Not as thick as either of the others but VERY tightly knit. 1000 thread count really means higher quality when it comes to Sateen sheets. I'm not sure why, but they say it's single ply, maybe that's why. Among the three, the Royal 1000 was the least "furry" with a short nap and a very smooth texture. After just one washing they are quite soft and supple. Will they be as durable as the other two? Too early to tell. It's very tight weave may well allow a decade of extremely comfortable service. We have one other set, which are very high quality, we bought about 12 years ago and they are quite similar. All of the stitching is just excellent. The top fold over seam is the nicest of all of them. Are they worth the 20% more than the others? I'm not sure. The Pizuna are incredible set of sheets (though their color options for a Split King are limited to just white). The Pizuna probably represent the best value at 20% less. They are thick and will likely outlast all. They would take a good 10 washings before they would be comfortable. The Royal 1000 I still consider the finest quality of the group and, likely, on all of Amazon. Though they are not quite as thick the exceedingly tight weave mean they will have a long comfortable life. They are supple and soft after just one washing and sleep the most comfortably of all. These are beautiful sheets. Worth the money? I think so. We're glad we purchased them. ... show more

    • Great Sheets, but wrong size
Size: Extra-Deep-King Color: Solid Blue
We have a King size bed with a built in pillow top that ads about 3 inches to the mattress height. And so I thought the Extra Deep fitted sheet would be a good fit because regular size fitted sheets have always been too tight and we have to use corner garters in order to keep them from lifting. The total height of our mattress is about 15 inches (12 inches for the mattress base and 3 inches for the pillowtop). and the extra deep sheet size mentioned that it would fit mattresses "up to" 22 inches. So I assumed that it would fit our mattress well enough that we would have no trouble with it. However, they don't fit at all and there's no way to get them to without adding a second pillow topper to the mattress. So it seems that the "fits mattresses up to 22 inches" size description actually means "fits mattresses 22 inches only", and not anything smaller than that. It's a shame too because the quality of these sheets is great. Now we have to contend with trying to fit them back into the plastic case they came in so that we can send them back and wait 6 weeks for a refund (minus a restocking fee of course). If you have a king size mattress that's 22 inches high, you'll love these sheets. Otherwise measure carefully. ... show more

Excellent sheets with 1,000. We bought twin XL and they are great. Smooth and soft to the touch. There’s no problem with the bottom sheet staying on the bed with the elastic strip at each corner. My husband is a rough sleeper and these sheets pass his test! I’m following the washing instructions of using cold water and there’s been no shrinkage. ... show more

It's a little early for me to be writing a full review, as I just received the sheets last week and I know it takes time for new sheets to be "broken in" and become the best that they can be. I washed them in cool water to get the new smell off them and they fit right on our queen-sized bed without a hitch. The bottom, fitted sheet is a bit over-sized, despite our deep mattress, but I'm actually not the biggest fuss budget about that sort of thing, contrary to how others might feel. I'm just glad the bottom sheet easily fits over the bottom mattress, which is my priority (my husband and I are both developing a bit of hand arthritis and don't wish to do battle trying to fit the fitted bottom sheet over the mattress). The sheets themselves are comfortable, solid, and sturdy. The solid gold color is very pretty, although a bit more of a yellow than gold, pretty nonetheless. The extra pillow cases we bought ,under the same color name, don't quite match the pillowcases that came with the sheets, but they are close. Sheets themselves are a bit stiff at this point (as alluded to above), which I attribute to "new sheet syndrome" and which was mentioned by one or two reviewers I read when I was making my selection. These reviewers said they will soften up with subsequent washings. So at this point ,I give a thumbs up for the Royal Hotel sheets, 4 stars instead of 5 because I eagerly await the deep, soft comfort factor to be revealed in near time. If that happens and I am given an opportunity to update my review, I hope to be giving these sheets 5 stars.! ... show more
