Ordered this in silver plated. Thought I'd give a running review. First, very shiny. Trumpet looks small. Cleaned valves as recommended they work but the third valve didn't want to go back in. It did finally. VALVE CAPS ARE POORLY MACHINED. Slides came all greased up the tuning slide doesn't stay put when I put in my trumpet stand. Valves work well enough but not nearly as smooth and quick as my previously owned Getzen Capri. Intonation is lousy wait the tuning slide has moved again and again and again and again. Sound is bright which surprised me. Advertised as a professional quality horn. Also advertised as a step up horn. I have had Getzen,King, Conn and Holton before. The Getzen and King were step up horns. This doesn't come close. This s horn is a disappointment. Will return. Was very pretty. Slides are a poor fit especially the tuning slides which blew out each time I played it. Really surprised they never got in contact with me afterwards. Quality seller???

I have played almost every model of Rowell trumpet they’ve sold on Amazon in recent years. This new silver 2 model is very good. It is not quite the as unique as the gold plated or Antique finish trumpet, and it is not quite as standard as the original silver—those I gave 5 stars despite a few minor problems. Silver2 has two nice (but possibly aluminum) Amado keys. It has a heavy mouthpiece receiver similar to the antique model. Slides work great, valves are sticky like new trumpets always are. The hard case is an awesome touch. The silver plating is well done. I think it’s gold or gold-like plating on the valve buttons and caps, nice contrast. Silver2 is still a 4 star for me. It is a rather small trumpet. The case is hard but very small case. I am concerned that the mouthpiece receiver is touching the rim of the case. Description says large bore but we didn’t quite experience it as dramatically as on the antique or gold-plated models. The slanted tuning slides without stabilizer and the slanted bell crook looks advanced/modern but again we do not really experience the benefit—perhaps it only matters at very advanced level of playing? The slotting can be tricky. Not as free-blowing as gold-plated or antique. Also of especial note, I found my own Bach (proper) mouthpieces to jiggle in this mouthpiece receiver. This may be the cause of some of the resistance I felt earlier. The heavier-weight mouthpiece that came paired with this trumpet actually does not jiggle when inserted. It also permitted much more air to be blowing into the instrument than all the other mouthpieces. This is another matter to consider.

I am very happy with this purchase. It was a gift for my nephew who is not only a beginner but had never touched a trumpet. He said he would teach himself by watching on line. The first time he blew into the trumpet, no sound. The second time, wow, he almost sounded as though he had been playing for months! How is this possible? The trumpet, even in the hands of a novice, is excellent. Now I am waiting for my nephew to catch up with the horn! Also, I did my research and really good trumpets can be costly; and this horn was very reasonable for the quality sound!

It does need a little work, oiling valves and slides for sure but after that, it's a beauty. Quality is nice, comfort and compact is nice. Case is small and that's surprising, light weight, and cheap compared to the last trumpet I purchased.
