This is my first review of any Amazon product ever. I’m happy to review this product in a positive light. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do with what I need it for. We don’t need to buy special equipment to work miracles and wonders. The miracles and wonders happen through us as people and players. What this does is create confident fingers where I know I sometimes lack follow-through with my third finger. It also helps me work on using air through phrases because I often hold back making things significantly harder to get through. I highly recommend.

This valve block is a fantastic way to practice fingerings. Lots of times your chops give out long before your fingers memorize the passage, especially when the passage is in the upper register. You can sit in your easy chair and shed away. The valves have very realistic travel and resistance - so you are really getting a realistic practice session. You can also do lip buzz exercises with your mouthpiece and the the lead pipe. A great practice aid for student or professional.

For what it is, I consider this a worthwhile purchase. The valves DO NOT connect to anything so there is no difference in tone no matter which valve you depress. Interestingly enough, the valves actually unscrew like real valves and they even have holes inside which are similar to actual valves - I can't imagine why they would put that much effort into something that does nothing at all. The springs in the valves are MUCH stiffer than regular valves so for me it messed up my rhythm quite a bit. I decided to spend a few more bucks and bought a set of regular Yamaha springs and swapped those out for the stiff springs the unit comes with. That gives you a much more realistic and similar experience to fingering your actual trumpet and is excellent practice for fingering technique anywhere and anytime. So for mouthpiece buzzing and fingering practice (ONLY after adding the Yamaha springs) I consider this a worthwhile practice device. If they had just put real valve springs in rather than the very stiff springs they used it would have been 5 stars but without the Yamaha springs I installed myself I found the fingering very impractical - it just throws off the stroke significantly due to the heavy resistance of the installed springs.

Pros - Great for fingering on the go. Good way to keep your fingers loose. Lightweight and feels good in the hand. The finger buttons feel good as well. Cons - Not to be taken seriously. Though the resistance is pretty decent, there is no slotting of the "note". The blowing is pretty linear no matter the effort. This is a pretty cool concept and cool to have, but I'm not sure what you can accomplish with this other than fingering practice.

Wow! It features one of the most incoherent descriptions ever. It appears that this company wanted to or does make an all plastic trumpet, but as a tangent, designed and made a training device, because otherwise, why would they go so far as to make real working valves that go nowhere? No matter, it works as a fingering trainer to develop finger independence when actual trumpet playing is not convenient, and for this purpose, the spring tension is fine as it is. Because of the valves, holding it approximates holding an actual trumpet. There is a lead pipe and you can insert a mouthpiece and practice buzzing, although that might be obnoxious for anyone in proximity. It's what I wanted and I'm satisfied. I have trouble with finger independence between the second and third especially, and I hope this will allow me to work on that without driving anyone--including myself--insane.
