Style: Trombone
This is the 4th trombone that I have used, starting with the first one in college decades ago. Surprisingly, of the four, I get the best tone on this one. It is fairly light weight (I presume the metal is a little bit thinner than the others), which certainly makes it more comfortable to hold and to carry around and it may also contribute to its better sound. My wife, who runs an instrument repair business, says the metal seems to be about the same thickness as student trombones she has worked on. The slide works very well. I use slide cream and water sprays, and that provides for a very smooth operation. The case is decent. Like the trombone, it is light weight, which means it's very easy to lift and lug. But it also means it is likely lower on the durable side, so it is prudent to be more cautious when putting it in the car to avoid heavy bangs against other equipment. The mouth piece is not stamped with a size rating, so I don't have a way to compare it to other brands. But it is very comfortable and provides for a good pitch range. And I assume it contributes to the instrument overall having an excellent tone for me. I really don't see any downsides to this trombone. Some people might not like the slightly thinner metal, which means it likely will dent a little easier. So if you are someone who tends not to be particularly careful when getting it into or out of the case, or who occasionally bumps the horn against a metal music stand, this might not be the horn for you. But if you tend to be more cautious and naturally protect your instrument any way, then this one is an outstanding value. I highly recommend it.

I got this for my son after we encouraged him to try out for solo/ensemble. He practiced his piece for weeks and as a reward I surprised him with this trombone right before his performance. He ended up getting superior (highest you can get). Coming from playing an Olds trombone in high school this one is pretty good for the price. I wouldn't say that it is the best that I have heard but it is good enough for a student trombone. For what you get you can't go wrong.

I have no concerns with the jean paul trombones or trumpets. Own both and much more expensive bachs etc. Frankly the chineese are good enough at simple valve brass instruments and rebrand most of the common name student horns. Something like a saxaphone or french horn, probably not. For a starting trombone student, a clean slide is so much more important than getting a bach or yamaha.

I don’t know if this was only our trombone, that we received or all of them, but the slide is not totally aligned correctly and doesn’t slide by itself without a bit of grinding push. ;-(. The trombone looks great. Sounds great. But slide is not done well.
