Description

Built for Extreme Steering Strength: Give your Wrangler TJ or Cherokee XJ the durability it needs with Rough Country's Heavy Duty Steering Kit. Factory steering components are no match for trail hazards like rocks, ruts, and logs. This complete upgrade replaces the weak factory tie rod and drag link with massive 1.5-inch DOM tubing that is substantially stronger than stock and engineered to survive serious off-road abuse.Improved Clearance and Trail Protection: Designed with off-road performance in mind, this HD steering system provides increased clearance between the tie rod and differential cover. The reinforced design helps reduce the risk of trail damage while maintaining consistent steering geometry in demanding conditions.Tighter Steering Control: Equipped with rotational, non-articulating joints, this steering kit minimizes unwanted movement to help prevent bump steer. The result is a more precise, confident steering feel both on the trail and on the street.Easy Installation and Adjustment: Integrated wrench flats on the heavy duty tie rod ends allow for simple installation and quick, accurate steering adjustments. This user-friendly design makes aligning and dialing in your steering setup easier than ever.Built to Tackle the Toughest Trails: Beef up your Cherokee XJ or Wrangler TJ with a steering system built to handle off- road punishment. Whether crawling over rocks or navigating rugged terrain, Rough Country's HD Steering Kit is ready to face the gauntlet right alongside you. Fitment Notes: ONLY works with 4 inches of lift or more. This kit MUST be used with a stock pitman arm to ensure proper steering geometry. Due to variances in steering design, this kit does NOT work on right-hand drive applications. Due to inadequate backspacing this kit does NOT work with factory wheels. Due to variances in wheel design, a 16" or larger wheel is advised. Requires 7 Degree Ball Joint Reamer tool for installation RC 10405.

  • Great product.
Model: 10604
If you have a 2” lift spring or more you will need the adjustable track bar. The drag link was not able to be adjusted in enough to have 50/50 left to right steering input. The quality of the parts are amazing. Very well packaged with sleeves protecting the threads. Cotten pins could be sturdier quality, but work. The cotter pins started to rust a month after install. Cheap galvanized coated. Good product. 2001 XJ with 3” spring lift ... show more

  • Installation is not for beginners...
Model: 10613
First off, you'll need a dropped pitman arm or you'll have terrible bump steer. Second, you'll need to drill and ream 7°, almost impossible to do while spindles and pitman arm are on the vehicle. You'll go crooked, grab, oggle out, and generally run into problems. Go slow and don't ream too far. With a drop pitman arm, it's a good idea to get a steering box brace...which in turn needs a sway bar drop too so plan on all that. Beefy as heck and no.more worries about bending tie rods or breaking ends. The only down side is that since it's no longer a Y-link, it is lower than the axle tube. I haven't hit it yet - I'll keep trying. Difficult installation, requires drop arm, hangs a little low, hence 4 stars. ... show more

  • 100% worth the money
Easy to install definitely helped on the trails and on the road steers way better and got rid of my death wobble. They are very thick and heavy compared to the stock drag link and tie rod. Installed on my 1996 jeep XJ

  • Complete garbage,
Model: 10613
I did not like that my product arrived bent, I really did not like the fact that this kit required me to permanently modify my vehicle to only use RC tie rods. The rod ends are junk they did not last very long at all and rough country will not warranty them out because I ordered off Amazon and not directly through them. So after spending high dollar for this kit 1 year later I'm stuck choosing between paying rough country another $250 for another set of joints that last 3500 miles or buying a stock pair of steering knuckles and stock steering set and a stock pitman arm for who know what that's going to cost. Do not buy this kit unless you like throwing away money to have your Jeep death wobble. ... show more

  • Beefy, steering smoother now, install was difficult
Model: 10604
Drilling/reaming the knuckles was fine, but trying to do the same to the pitman arm, while it was in place, ended up being impossible for me. In RC's defense, they suggest not trying to do this. Rented a puller from the autoparts store, and it was not up to the task of getting the pitman arm off my 20+year old Jeep. So I ended up cutting it off and buying another. Drilling/reaming the new pitman arm, while held in a vice and using a drill press, was much easier/possible. This assembly goes in pretty quick otherwise, and is definitely a hearty upgrade to the stock steering, as you can see from the comparison pics others have posted. The RC reamer worked fine, but you do need to buy it separately, and it's not all that cheap. ... show more

  • Outstanding
Model: 10613
Awesome kit and fixed my death wobble. Only issue is the you have to modify the holes that the tie rods go into. To enlarge the holes you’ll need to purchase a 5/8” drill bit and the RC 7 degree reemer, this adds another $100 to your install. Take your time drilling and reeming the holes or you’ll break the bit and/or the reemer. ... show more
