I LOVE this leveling kit. This is the first kit I have ever tried on one of my trucks and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!! It really does a good job of getting the front end of my silverado up in the air and level which looks great! I believe the kit is pretty high quality even the shocks are better than what a lot of people say. Not sure how long they will last but they give a pretty good ride, not stiff at all. The hardest part about getting the keys on the torsion bars is beating the old rusted on ones off after that they go on easy. The rear blocks are really easy to put in and the replacement U bolts fit perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend buying the replacement Moog upper control arms which compensate for the lift of the truck by allowing 2 extra degrees of camber adjustment so the truck can be aligned, BUY THEM!!! They are not that expensive. It sucks getting the old ones out but its worth it trust me! I would also recommend replacing all of the main front suspension and steering parts also (upper, lower control arms, wheel bearing, inner, outer tie rods, sway bar links) especially if the old silverado has over 100k miles because it will make your lift look a lot better and extend the life of the truck honestly. I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 and along with the lift replaced EVERY main component on the front end and it turned out great!! Buy this kit you will love it and take some of this info into consideration. You also get the sweet rough country logo to slap on the back window and also get the rough country shock boots also they work great and add an extra splash of color to the suspension!! ... show more

I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500, 4wd with the Z71 package. I bought this kit with some reservations of what 2" would really give me. I received the box, and it was packaged very nicely in form cut foam. It took me quite a while to install (north of 5 hours), however I did do it alone, with 2 jack stands and the stock vehicle jack (My harbor freight floor jack decided to crap out 2 days before). Power tools are extremely helpful along with air tools, and you'll want a mix of long and short sockets as well as wrenches. The rear is relatively simple, I found that ratchet straps come in handy for getting everything back into alignment. The front can present some more issues depending on how much rust you have on your truck. Mine wasn't that rusty, but the keys didn't want to come out easy. Heat and a big hammer is your friend here. The included shocks are a bonus and they seem a little bit stiffer than stock but co'mon, its a truck. I opted to order boots to go on the shocks but I don't believe this is required, just personal preference. After installing with stock tires, it looks nice and you can tell there's some more room in the wheel wells. I opted to buy rims and tires (BFG 285/75r16 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 Radial Tire - 285/75R16 126R and American Racing Bajas American Racing Custom Wheels AR172 Baja Polished Wheel (16x8"/6x139.7mm, 0mm offset)) and they really make a difference. People think that its a 2500, not a lifted 1500. It looks great. The only downside is the ride is definitely stiffer but in a 10+ year old truck, you can't be too upset considering the visual results. I have used the 4wd since the install and have not found any problem with it's functionality. Make sure your CV boots/joints aren't at too stiff of an angle or you may experience some problems with longevity of them, but they're easy enough to replace (just say goodbye to your Saturday) and they are a dime a dozen at the scrapyard. The best part about this lift is the stickers, they give you one for each shock and a big one to go across your back window, and let me say wow. You can feel the HP gain that you get with those things, probably at least 50 if not more, by far worth the money never mind the lift.(Thats a joke for all you who are a few short of a six pack) I would 100% recommend to friends, but probably wouldn't buy again just because I now want to run 35's. This is a great price and Rough Country is a great company, maybe in the future I'll invest in their 6 inch lifts, but for now I love it. ... show more

Super simple to install. great bang for buck. makes my truck ride a lot smoother. 2”s doesnt seem like much but it really wakes your truck up and tells you it to stand proud. definitely recommend treating your truck to this kit if its got a lot of miles.

I needed new shocks in my truck badly. For the price, I couldn't pass this kit up. I knew I was going to level it sooner or later to fit 285s, and this was the same price as most leveling kits without shocks. With that said, my expectations were rather low with these shocks. So I wasn't too terribly let down when I felt how they rode. These shocks really aren't that great (no surprises there, however). They ride a bit stiff but still feel uncontrolled and leave you with a lot of body roll. They are decent off road, but on road they just suck at handling in all aspects. With that said, this is a truck and it doesn't need to ride like a Mercedes. The quality of the kit as a whole is fantastic. The packaging was very nice, felt like I was unboxing a high-end lift kit. The parts all fit and feel extremely solid. So far, no signs of wear on any of the obvious parts. I do have a clunking sound in the rear, but I think I just need to replace some rubber and re torque everything. Or perhaps the driveshaft slip yoke needs some lube, but I digress. All-in all, this is a great kit that will perhaps tide you over until you can get some lifted Bilstein shocks. No regrets with this purchase, makes the truck look great and brings it to the height it should have been stock. ... show more

This kit and its contents speak for itself. I am amazed with how well the kit went on. I would recommend using a ball joint press over any cheap torsion bar tool for sale on here it will make the job a lot easier. I would say it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to put this on the front with shock install; and 30-45 minutes to finish up the back. I did not take any of the tires off or drop my spare tire. This product came in a great package and is built great. Everything has a nice coating on it and the hardware is all in good shape. I have put quite a few of these leveling kits on. However this is my first rough country brand kit. I am excited to see how the kit holds up. I think this is the way to go if the shocks are worth a darn. Most trucks out there need new shocks and shocks are going to run you around 30 a piece so why not buy 4 matching all at once? I will let you know how the shocks wear over time. (follow up) I have around 2,000 miles on this kit so far and am still happy. UPDATE: I have 8,000+ on the truck now and the shocks are still holding up. Over all I am very happy with this kit. After thought, while I was installing this kit I noticed I still have a lot more "lift" left in my torsion bars. I could crank them up quite a bit. However, the rear block limits how far you can go. Simple way to fix this issue if you want to go higher. Buy a over load spring for your truck, they are simple to put on and make the truck tow a lot better. GM trucks of this era seem to squat a lot when towing the new spring will help that issue. ... show more

I love this leveling kit, I put it on my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 1/2 ton and it made it look a lot better giving it a raise in height which especially helps since I got a plow up front and you can't tell it's been raised its comfortably fitted, and after looking at the shocks with much vigor I've come to the realization that they are of higher quality which I found SHOCKING! I am very satisfied with this kit. The truck looks like a truck finally, and it rides like one too. The truck is just a little stiffer all around, but still very comfortable to drive. Before, my truck was just too 'squishy.' My truck takes corners better than before, and handles bumps better as well. The stance is much better too, being fully adjustable in the front, you can still raise or lower it to your preference before you get it aligned. The install was simple, and would have taken allot less time had I bought or rented the tool for removing my torsion keys. I highly recommend doing this. You can rent them for free from most auto stores with a deposit, or I would just recommend buying one and having it shipped with your kit. Its like $25 bucks and well worth it. Even if you only use it that one time. If I didn't work in a fab shop, or did this at home a may have been in trouble. we had to make-shift something that would work for us, but seemed a little dangerous even though we took the proper safety precautions. Save yourself the trouble and buy that tool. Also I bought the steering stabilizer that was recommended with it and am satisfied with the trucks overall performance, handling and looks. ... show more
