  • Good quality steel with a poorly designed edge
Style Name: Medium with Foot
The steel is advertised 18/10 (316). It looks better than 304 or 18/8 steel. The cuts, however, are not as easy as 304 products. I am not sure if they need to keep it thick or something due to the materials used but a lot of efforts is required. My mother likes it because she trusts the steel quality that makes her happy, and that it is easy to clean due to the simple design. If you guys figure out the edge design, this would be a great product. She did not want to refund so we are keeping it for now. She says it is an exercise for her --so note that. ... show more

  • Fantastic for hash browns
Style Name: Medium with Foot
I like making hash browns from Russet potatoes. After peeling and grating, this is the result. Perfect sized holes. Grater is very sturdy and the feet don’t slip. 👍🏼👍🏼

  • LOVE IT!
Style Name: Grater Coarse
Wish I had gotten this sooner. So much easier and sturdy than a box grater - and I have a good one. It's my go to now!

  • Easy to use and clean
Style Name: Grater Coarse
This is the first flat grater I've ever used and I really like it. The handle is easy to grip and the feet keep it from slipping, plus it can be placed flat over a bowl with minimal movement. Easy to clean by hand or in dishwasher. This is a real space saver being virtually flat, no more box graters for me! ... show more

  • Novel, simple, and heavy duty grater - A tad dull - Manufacturer Unreachable
Style Name: Grater Fine
Update: I now have all three variations of this grater. I noticed that one the rubber feet came a bit cracked around the rod. When I removed that foot I noticed that it was very difficult to remove because the rod was serrated where it inserted into the foot. This is a poor choice because one may want to remove the feet for cleaning. In practice I don't think this would be needed because the feet make such a tight feet that even after being a bit cracked it still sealed around the rod as evidenced by the popping noise it made when removing it. I hoped that I would be able to get a replacement rubber foot from the manufacturer but I get an error when attempting to submit to their global site and their US site says that it is under construction. There are no other contact methods available on their website either - if the web form doesn't work then tough luck. I would even be happy ordering a bunch of the rubber feet which they sell on their website but they will only ship to Germany and Austria. I also cannot find the replacement rubber feet at any other retailer. As a result of all of this I will likely end up returning the grater for a replacement costing me time/effort and being generally wasteful. This also brings up the fact that there is in effect zero manufacturer warranty on this (how would you submit a warranty claim if they are unreachable?) and replacement parts aren't available outside of Germany and Austria. Due to these issues I had to lower my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars. I expect there to be some type of warranty offered on a high-end product such as this. I also noticed that under close examination the weld on my graters are pretty dirty. I was able to clean it up a bit with a brush but there are still black welding marks along all of the seams. -- This grater is great. The very simple design and heavy-duty metal makes me think that this could last a lifetime. The design makes it easy to grate over a plate using the rubber feet or drape over a mixing bowl using the bend near the rubber feet. The magnet test shows very weak magnetic attraction which means it likely is the claimed 18/10 grade of stainless steel. It would be nice if this came a bit sharper - Out of the box my very old cheap grater is a bit sharper than this. I noticed that the grater plate is welded to the metal rod on the slight underside of it. Because of this all the pressure put on the grater when using it winds up being transferred to the weld. This isn't necessarily a problem if the weld is very strong but any weakness in the weld could lead to failure as at least one other reviewer has found. A much better design/build option would have been to wend the grater plate on the top side of the metal rod. If it was constructed that way then pressure on the grater plate would be transferred directly to the rod with the weld simply holding the plate in position. Again - All of this is only an issue if the weld is poorly done so I would say to take a close look at the weld especially towards the top and bottom of the plate to make sure it looks good. ... show more

  • Stop Looking! Not Good, GRATE!
Style Name: Grater Coarse
I am not sure how many box style graters I have gone through, reviewing my purchase history, it looks like I even tried a hexagonal grater in the hopes of it being stronger. No grater, until this one, has lived up to and surpassed my expectations of being a quality kitchen tool. When I realized that store bought grated cheese was covered in wood pulp or some other parting agent, I began to grate my own cheese. The funny thing is once you start grating your own cheese, the magic of cheese returns - the way it moistens, melts and bubbles. Of course this love destroyed grater after grater. Aged Parmesan is as good a test as any for a grater as I have found, and this grater passed that test easily. It doesn’t bend or deflect in any way. The irony of course is that because of the price, I waited and waited to buy this grater. I assumed it’s construction was like all the other graters I have owned. Finally, at a price drop I purchased this grater. When I unboxed it, I was struck by the weight as well as the thickness of the support bar as well as the graters overall rigidity. I pulled out my digital calipers and realized it is in essence the frame is 1/4” wire. If there is one annoyance about grating cheese with a box grater it’s what to grate the cheese in. A plate, a bowl, a dish. Too high of a side it interferes, too low and it often falls over the edge. This grater eliminates all the guess work. Cake pan, casserole, or bowl: whatever you prefer (a corning-ware load pan has become my favorite option). This grater is constructed well enough to support itself. That is a huge game changer. I’ll be the first to admit that this is an expensive grater, but I have waited a couple of months to write my review, in order to make sure it really is all I initially thought as well as being worth the price. This is the greatest grater around - ready to grate any cheese, anytime. I wholeheartedly recommend this product and believe you will never regret it. ... show more
