My pot light cans are from 1992 - curved housings and no spring clips so upgrading them was a challenge because the new slim line LED light spring clips had nothing to grab onto inside the old curved cans. These clips worked really well once I figured out where to place them inside the old light curved housing. I did change from the included self tapping screws to 1 inch #8 machine screw with nuts. The self tapping screws would not hold the new spring bracket tight to the can because the sheet metal on the can housing is too thin. I couldn't find new 6 inch LED lights that would completely cover the existing holes that the old can edges had covered. I could have enlarged my old lights from 6 inch to 8 inch slimline drywall mounted LEDs with drywall grabbing spring clips. But I’d have to enlarge the drywall holes about an inch in diameter on 24 pot lights. That’s too big of a mess for minimal return. In summary, these little clips were very helpful! ... show more

This item was not installed in my ceiling light cans. The new LED upgrade lights require two on opposing sides of can to anchor spring holders of lights. Work great are a great value and easy to install with included screws.

Everything arrived quickly and as advertised. Installation was pretty simple but I was working on a six inch recessed can so I had room enough to get my hand in the can. My Skil 12v impact driver was also small enough to fit in the six inch can without the need for a 90 degree adapter. The added light that the driver provided was also helpful. I did need to use a punch to create a dent in the metal can so the screws didn't wonder around. The only thing that might have made the job a little easier would be if the screw head could fit a socket. The screw heads are round so I used a Phillips head bit in my driver and it all worked fine. I would recommend punching a dent in the can, drive the sheet metal screw in, then remove the screw and add the c-clip, then screw it back in. I measured 1.5 inches up from the bottom of the can to punch my screw hole. ... show more

Got retrofit LED for existing recessed cans. Old trim was different so the can had no clips on the sides for the pins on new lights. They wouldn’t stay in, then when they did it was crooked. These are prefect, screwed right on to the sides if the can. Snug fit now.

If you have new LED fixtures and old work cans, these are the solution to hours of pushing, shoving, cussing and still having a dangling light. Whatever was holding the old light in, forget it. Flatten anything on the sides of the old can, screw these in on opposite sides, problem solved. It's amazing how such a small piece of hardware can make a big difference. If - like us - you are replacing older incandescent high hat flood lights with sleek new flat LED fixtures, you're going to need these little clips for the conversion. These clips allow the newer LED's to use the same ceiling wells that the older floods rested in. Without the clips, you'd need to replace the entire base in the ceiling to accommodate the LED's.
