  • Sturdy and attractive
Size: 56in-108in Color: Black
These curtain rods are sturdy with an attractive finish. The brackets are easy to install. They can easily be installed with a screwdriver; I found it convenient to drill small starter holes first. I originally bought one of these rods to hang curtains along one wall of my screened-in back porch. I needed a sturdy rod which would span a long distance and provide strong support. It has worked so well that I recently decided to purchase a second rod to enclose the other side as well. I especially like the adjustable, overhead brackets. Since the concrete floor of the porch is not perfectly flat, I was able to use the adjusters to make the curtains look even along the entire span of the floor. The first rod has been hanging outside for 2+ years now, and (while it is not directly exposed to the elements) shows no signs of wear and tear. A great product! ... show more

  • Rosie, get your drill, a friend, and get to riveting!
The media could not be loaded. Great product, would definitely order again. I ordered Silver, which is shiny and quality, not a cheapy look / sprayed plastic. I used this across my bedroom wall to add softness, texture, and black out panels, but avoiding drilling holes in my bookcases / crown molding. It makes a huge impact on the feel of the room! Time to Install, What You Need: I installed it with a friend in about an hour. You’ll need a drill, 3/16 inch drill bit, hammer for the anchors, extra anchors in case you break one (it happens!), a screwdriver (electric is way easier), a ladder or step stool, a silicone jar opener or something to protect your fingers as you tighten the knobs (otherwise, ouch!), and something to catch the dust as you drill upward. I found that a wet paper towel over a small cutting board worked great to catch the sawdust. Use sunglasses just in case! I also found that a business card marked with the holes and taped to the ceiling worked just as well as measuring each time. Install Tips: Take care to place the supports in places that won’t interfere with where you want the curtains to slide - you can’t slide them past the supports. Also, hammer the anchors in gently - they will break if you’re working out anger issues - ha! And if you’re drilling into a stud, the anchors aren’t necessary, just screw in directly! I bought the longest option, up to 168” (14’) and ended up extending mine to a bit less, roughly 156” (13’), using only 3 supports (not 4), so I could slide the curtains all the way across to the middle or to each end. It’s sturdy, but the instructions do reccomend all 4 supports. I chose to face the “knobs” that tighten the height from the ceiling and the rod into place towards the wall, facing in, so you can’t see them, for a cleaner, less industrial look. I also chose to orient the ceiling brackets parallel to the wall, not perpendicular like the directions, with no adverse effect. Subtle difference, solely out of visual preference. See pics and video below! And if you haven’t yet purchased tie backs for your curtains, check your jewelry drawer...none of mine match, but they’re all gold, elegant, at no additional cost! And if you haven’t found the curtains you love on Amazon, I found mine from this little boutique “electronic bay” in the neighborhood. Ask for samimport-2011, he’s got lots of suggestions on color and length for your room for a great value. ;) Note, the white curtains in the photo are hung separately, on a spring loaded shower curtain between the bookcases. The only suggestions for the manufacturer: Functionally, make the knobs a bit thicker so they don’t cut into your fingers when you tighten them, and aesthetically, offer a brushed silver and a muted, brushed brass - more polished and high end look. Shiny silver still looks great though. Have fun! ... show more

  • Most of my consternation stems from my worries about hanging a heavy curtain
The rods are made of nice apparently sturdy material, and look pretty (Silver). They slide into each other so you can adjust them to whatever length you like (I used mine across a 165 inch window-wall). The sliding is the most obvious solution to this problem but it's kinda hard to configure at first because you don't know how much clearance you've achieved on any given joint (the more the "overlap" between rods, presumably the more dependable that arrangement). The end result looks good and feels a bit uncertain, but that's probably just my nerves, and the fact that I'm using them across a very large window. These are pretty much the only option for a window of this size. I ended up not using the drywall anchors supplied with the rod. They seemed small and I'm going to get some nice and heavy curtains. I used much more beastly looking drywall anchors (rated at 75 lb each, and I used 8 of them), although in retrospect I really should have used toggle anchors. But these will probably hold. I'm planning to get curtains that will be about 40 pounds total across the length of the rod. I don't doubt that the anchors will easily support that weight, and I'm reasonably confident that the rod also feels like it will have no trouble holding up that much (especially since the weight is distributed along the length of the rod). My main concern is the adjustable screws that hold the "hook" into the "bracket" that is now nailed to the ceiling. This screw is probably the weakest point of the whole assembly, because the 4 screws keeping the hooks in the brackets have to bear all the weight. If the friction between the screw and the hook fails, the hook simply slides out of the bracket and the whole thing comes crashing down. I'm not sure why I would need this length of the rod from the ceiling to be adjustable, but I might go buy some epoxy or something and really glue the whole thing into place. If the hook and bracket were one piece of metal(?) welded together, this product would have received 5 stars. If I don't update this review, assume that the 40 lb curtains were successfully hung and have not yet come crashing down. ... show more
