Three buckles make the skates easy to put on and take off, and provide a solid level of comfort and support. The boot and liner have extra ventilation to keep feet cool on long sessions and are washable if you need to freshen them up. They are comfortable enough for him to wear the 3-4 hours he’s at the rink. He wasn’t a beginner and I can’t rollerblade so I have no idea how well these would work for beginners but they have worked great for him. He usually wins all the speed races (not professional, just a local rink bragging rights race) They look cool, they are adjustable and easy for him to use. Just had my first hour with this pair of inline skate. They are very uncomfortable. The plastic tongue part hurts a lot. (see attached photo for what it did to my calf after one hour.) I recently bought a different model of Roller Derby for my daughter, which doesn't have this problem. Also, the "shoe part" is taped on the "skate" part. After wearing it for about one hour, I started to hear weird sound like stepping on plastic film. Later I found out that the shoe part detached from the skate part. You can still wear it because eventually the buckle will hold the shoe in place. Both problems can be found in the reviews. I regret that I didn't read before I made the purchase... ... show more

Out of the box, these skates are great outside and even better at the local roller rink. One thing I will mention is that since the size is adjustable, the boot liners are in 2 pieces, and the cushions start to get uncomfortable on the inner part of your foot. It might just be a problem specific to me. Thicker socks help, but I just replaced the liners with different ones. Great inline roller skates to start out with. ... show more

These are awesome value and tons of fun. I haven't rollerbladed in years but my daughter graduated from clicky toddler skates to real rollerskates this year. When I saw the Amazon deal I couldn't pass them up and even at full price they would've been worth every penny. Very solid, very smooth performance and a comfortable boot. I wasn't too sure about the adjustable size but it's actually awesome, I always wore hand me down inlines that were too big when I was younger and having the option for a little more or less room (or letting a friend try them out) is great! Definitely worth it if you're starting out or just getting back into it. ... show more
