The old blades I had (since I started blading in the 90s) were a used pair of Lightenings with 64MM wheels, which are now considered "aggressive" skates. I was looking for something that would feel just as secure and as high of quality. These were the 2nd set I bought and kept them. I learned about 'rocker' and 'anti-rocker' wheels in the process - which means different size wheels on each skate. I don't like that feel, so I swapped out the wheels for 70MM wheels all the way around with the same hardness/softness as the original wheels. I love these skates now and will use them for the next few decades. I learned so much from reading all the reviews on these too - thanks Amazon customers!

Be aware these don’t come with brakes! And be aware that if you buy these to skate with your daughter, she WILL laugh uncontrollably from the top of the hill while you flail and panic and scream in a way that will forever rob you of your dignity. Skates themselves are pretty awesome though.

They come with a brake that’s not attached and no directions to attach it. I found directions online, but it doesn’t matter anyways. The screws that attach the brake are too short + the holes are worn so the screw just falls out. And since you remove the wheels to put the brake on… that means you aren’t just losing your brake when the screw falls out, you are losing your back two wheels. Dangerous and disappointing.
