  • Worth It
Style: DG - Simon's Time Cafe
This was my first mini DIY dollhouse type project. I've made jewelry and various other crafts my whole life so I'm very comfortable with pliers and glues and such so I wouldn't consider myself a complete novice, but I'm very bad at following instructions. I found this kit to be a delight. All the materials were provided except for glue, pliers, scissors, batteries and paint. I contacted the company because I wanted to use the glue they recommended and they responded immediately to my request. However, because of US customs they are unable to send batteries, paint and glue. Not a biggy as I have those items at home. Everything else needed is provided in the box, if anything there were extra materials. I was able to follow the instructions easily enough (which is really remarkable for me). It took me about 30 hours give or take to complete the project. I will buy another kit from this company for sure. None of the pieces broke as I read in some reviews of other kits. My only negative comments would be 1) I wish the instructions gave some tips on how to secure the items for gluing (but this does come with practice and experience); and 2) I wish there was an acrylic dust cover that either came with the kit or could be purchased to fit this project. I would feel comfortable buying this kit as a gift for someone who is crafty and has patience for details. I am thinking of making one for my dad as a gift. I really love the finished product. I will say that the pieces are SUPER tiny, like some of them were slipping from my tiny child-sized fingers. The tweezers provided in the kit were not very sturdy so I used my own, but even with tweezers, some items were round and couldn't really be held with tweezers. I'm 47 now, don't think I'll be able to do these in like 20 years when my hands and eyes won't be as spry. I'm off to shop for my next kit . . . . ... show more

  • So much fun and has lots of details!

I am always amazed how these kits never miss one tiny part but they don’t! This one was fun and you make lots of flowers! Took a few weeks or so, working on it a few hours each evening. Purchased the other versions as well to do next! Instructions are clear and easy to follow but you sometimes need to be creative and problem solve. I will say the plastic “house” part was difficult and I wanted to toss it in the trash when getting to that part. I did use my cricut to cut the molding pieces that finalize the house and added a few of my own details to some of the pieces. I enjoy making each kit “my own” and adding details here and there. The flower making part did start to get old and I am going to hold off on a kit in the near future that is flower intensive. It is a flower greenhouse, I know but it did get tiresome by the sixth page of just flowers. Overall, fun and people enjoyed looking at all of the many details! Maybe not a kit for beginners though or maybe it is bc you get a lot of practice doing similar pieces. ... show more

  • So much fun and great value for money! Gifted one to my girlfriend.
Style: DG - Miller's Sunshine Garden
Some might find the assembly tedious and frustrating, but I think that the time spent gluing everything and giving it your own touch is the fun part. It's not similar to Lego at all. very DIY-y - Cut paper, glue, paint. But its so much fun! I highly recommend to buy narrow pliers and a gripster knife or any other paper knife. because those are not included. ... show more

  • Do NOT buy this for your first attempt!
Style: DG - Cathy's Greenhouse
The media could not be loaded. First, let me be clear - it was a great kit and I loved doing it, and the end result is so worth it! Second, however, I strongly urge you not to buy this one if it is your first time doing a craft of this type. I made this mistake, and it was a struggle. This kit had a TON of really difficult plants to make, and yes I am aware that it is a flower shop but like I said this was my FIRST TIME and I didn't have any idea what was involved in making one of these things! I guess I figured there would be leaves and stems and such to put together, but I didn't realize it was all tiny paper pieces that had to be cut and glued and then glued onto tiny pieces of wire where the glue just absolutely will not stick, and I just got really burned out on the plant-making portion of the kit. I LOVED making the furniture and rugs and shelves and books and things like that, which was what the directions start you out with, but then the very large chunk of the middle of the directions is all the plant-making, and I found myself taking more and more breaks that lasted longer and longer because I just started hating those plants so much and getting frustrated at the techniques I had to figure out. Also the plastic shell of the structure was such a GIANT pain in the ass, and I got glue in spots that are just ruined now, but I kinda stopped caring during those two weeks when we were all listening to Midnights, so I just kept going and finally finished it 3 years after I bought it. Third, my recommendation if you are new to this would be to get a simpler looking kit to try first so you can see which parts you enjoy and which you hate and then buy a better kit based on that. I am about to buy my second one, and it is the house with the edgeless pool and a ton of furniture and bedding and pictures and stuff because that is what I really enjoyed on the last one. I'm also considering the castle that's just a bunch of rocks that you glue on the walls because it looks like a good one to do when you need to let your mind drift and zone out. I got a lot out of the process of this even if it did take up my dining room table for 3 years lol. It saw me through lockdown, a hysterectomy, marital problems, health problems, a whole month of listening to folklore and crying every day to and from work, death of a close relative, lots of self-medicating, some breakthroughs, and finally a feeling of true accomplishment. It's one of the hardest crafts I've ever done, but I learned a lot, so it might become a new hobby. We'll see. Fourth, I gave it 4 stars bc even though it was tough and had some issues, it did turn out really cute and I love it now. I wanted to set it on fire and run over it with the car, but I realized that even though it has flaws and isn't perfect it is complete, and I made that happen. ... show more
