    • This is a real piano!!
Virtually all my life, there has been a piano in my house. Some were “plunkety-plunkers,” but my most recent was a high-quality upright. So, when I moved into a small retirement cottage where there was no space for the real thing, I purchased a small (66-key) keyboard. It did not make me happy. I “ran out of keys” regularly, the sound was so-so, and it just didn’t feel right to my hands. I’m no virtuoso, but I do enjoy playing and the inexpensive short keyboard just wasn’t fun. So I invested in this Roland FP-90. This is a real piano!!! The weighted keys make a huge difference, and the sound quality is fabulous. It’s loaded with multiple sound options—several sorts of pianos, organs, strings and other things I’ll probably never use. But what I really wanted was a piano that felt and sounded like a piano, and fit in the space I have. Everything else is just extra. I am happy.     • Don’t buy from here
The piano is amazing. But it came to me with the few keys getting stuck. I hope it’s possible to be fixed, but now I need to find authorised repair folks so that the warranty could cover the price. Better buy from the proper music store.

    • Great instrument!
keys feels noticeably better than on my FP-30 , sound are also great, though not the same as the sampling ones on Y/K, it got its own characteristics, and also very customizable. Still, price is the only weakness.

    • Great for learning piano
Got it for more than 10 days. I've been enjoying it. It's good for learning piano, as I can plug in a headphone so that others won't be bothered by the noises while playing it: I call those noises... you know how it sounds like when a beginner plays piano. The little screen is also helpful to show the current status of the piano, including the speed of the beats which is probably the thing I most care about at this stage. It was also easy to set up on the first day BTW. Cons: so far what concerns me most is the noises while playing some of the black keys, especially while playing D#1, C#2, C#3, D#3, F#3, the noises come with normal piano sound when I hit those keys but at complete different frequencies, and they were so loud that I can't ignore them. Not sure if they are just with the piano I got or they come with all FP90. ... show more

    • Synthetic sound but good key action
Good approximation of the key action of an acoustic grand, but sound is way too synthetic. I worked thru the Piano Designer feature but still the sound is too synthetic. Also, the sound of some key notes show quite a bit of anomalies, specially in the higher octaves. The 3D ambience spatial sound feature is not good as it overtly exaggerates the reverb and your Piano Designer set-ups, specially in the lower octaves- if you use headphones is better to turn this feature off. ... show more

    • Superb key action and piano sound.
It scores 2 important points that are most important to me: 1) very good key action; 2) rich and warm piano sound. The hybrid key (wooden surface) feels substantial. The key action response / weight can be adjusted to make it feel heavier or lighter, so it can be made to match the weight of grand piano action. It requires a professional studio headphone (with 1/4 jack) to deliver its true (superb) piano sound -- it unfortunately doesn't work well with consumer headphones. ... show more
