  • The Culture System, Not just for athletic coaches
While the author is primarily interested in sports development this is a book that speaks to human relationships in every setting. Any person in a leadership or management role would find this a well thought out approach to setting a climate and goals for effectively leading a "team" in any setting. The author does an excellent presentation on the philosophical underpinnings of the methodology of transformational coaching (leadership). From there he sets out solid principals and techniques for making it a reality. I read it on Kindle but recommend the print copy for easier access to the pre chapter outline and the post chapter take-aways and suggestion for implementation. The examples and words of coaches, players, sports psychologists and others make it a very engaging and interesting read. The author presents transformational as an exciting way to develop character and whole person development through sports. He shines a light on a way to respect the dignity of each individual player and coach in a way that sports actually can "transform" and enrich individual lives and the broader culture of athletics and beyond. ... show more

  • Fundamental
This is my single best-recommended book for a coach, hands-down. It's leveling up our team culture. I'm in my second decade as a coach and I wish I found this year one.

  • Must Read Book!
The Culture System by JP Nerbun is an outstanding book that every coach and person in a leadership position should read if they are committed to creating a culture where everyone puts the team before themselves. This book will help you create an environment where your players will feel empowered and take ownership in the team. This book will help you develop a player led team which is much stronger than a coach led team. JP will give you the tools you need to make this happen and share with you examples and stories of how this system has impacted so many teams in so many great ways. I have made this book a required read for my staff so we can continue to implement it throughout our program. I think JP hit a GRAND SLAM with this book and it is a must read for anyone in a leadership position. Andy Cerroni Hamilton HS, Wisconsin ... show more

  • Great book
If you are a coach or leader of any kind, this book is for you. I love the way the author goes into detail about how to build your team culture. A lot of books I have read never really gives you ideas on how to do it. This book breaks down different ways to help build your teams culture. My favorite line is when the author says to look at yourself as a mentor first, not a coach. This book gives so many useful tips. I highly recommend! ... show more

  • The Best
I've read and re read this book several times over. To the point that my personal copy is quite worn out. It lays out everything you need as a coach to build a strong program with real life examples and thoughts from coaches actually doing it. I've followed JP's stuff for a few years and it has helped me significantly as a coach. ... show more

  • I recommend this book
I own a semi-professional soccer team. I like to learn and want to help our team win and do things the right way. I read this entire 300 page book and on my Kindle was highlighting many parts per chapter and then taking photos to share with my coaching staff. We are beginning to implement individual player development plans, more or less, as outlined in this book. It's our first time doing it but we are optimistic it seems like a good idea. Cool book and a good read lots of positive ideas. ... show more
