  • Amazing mid tier upgrade. Very pleased.
Color: PodMic USB Black
I wanted to upgrade from my Blue Yeti and this has been the perfect choice for my gaming YouTube channel. With a combination of this microphones software and some OBS tweaks my audio sounds the most clear and professional than it ever has. I’m so glad I upgraded and honestly I’ll never need another mic for what I do. Excellent choice if you stream, do commentary or do any podcast work. ... show more

  • Flexible Broadcast Mic That Works Well for Growing Content Setups
Color: PodMic USB Black
I bought the RØDE PodMic USB because I wanted a microphone that could handle both simple plug-and-play USB use now and give me XLR flexibility later if I upgraded my setup. My main use was for podcasting, Zoom calls, voice recordings, and occasional streaming, so I needed something that sounded professional without being overly complicated. After spending time with it, I’d say it mostly met my expectations. The biggest advantage is versatility. Having both USB and XLR connectivity makes this mic practical for beginners and more advanced users. I was able to start using it right away through USB without needing an audio interface, which made setup easy. For future upgrades, the XLR option adds useful long-term value. Sound quality is generally clean, warm, and focused, especially for spoken voice. Consumer feedback often highlights how well it handles podcasting, streaming, and voiceovers while minimizing some background noise compared to condenser mics. It gives vocals a fuller sound, though proper positioning still matters. The built-in DSP features through USB are also useful for users who want easier audio shaping without much technical effort. Build quality feels solid. It has a sturdy, professional feel, though it is heavier than some may expect, so a quality boom arm or stand is important. On the downside, this isn’t the cheapest option, and some users mention that while USB is convenient, getting the absolute best performance may still require dialing in settings or using XLR gear later. Also, because it’s dynamic, lower-quality setups may need gain adjustments. For practical use, it’s great for podcasting, streaming, gaming chat, online teaching, and content creation. In terms of value, I think it’s fair if you want flexibility and room to grow. It may cost more upfront, but the dual connectivity helps avoid replacing it later. Overall, this mic feels like a practical long-term investment for creators who want reliable voice quality and upgrade options. ... show more

  • Terrible Mic and Company
Color: PodMic USB Black
I did a bit of research and found good reviews for this mic. People said it was high quality and it looked like it was. I ordered the mic, mic stand and pop filter all through amazon together for just about $320. I was using a blue yeti before for years but finally needed to get a new mic. The mic came and I set it up on the stand no problem although the usb-c wire they sent didn't work at all. So I ended up having to purchase my own usb-c wire. I got ones that were usb-c to usb-c and usb-c to just normal usb. They all worked but another issues persisted. I had a bit of trouble trying to get it to function using the software and everything but eventually made it work. The sound quality was much better than my previous mic and everything seemed awesome for a few days. The issue I began to have was the mic would just stop working while I was gaming. The only way to fix this was to unplug the mic and plug it back in which is very inconvenient especially when it could happen every 2-5 minutes or just once an hour with no warning. I contacted RODE support about the issue and thus begun the month process of being gaslit by them claiming it was my problem. I needed to send photos and videos of the mic working and not working and trying it out on different devices and using different cables. In the end nothing worked and I ended up finally getting them to allow me to send it back to them but not for a refund because they refused to refund me anything as it's not bought directly from them. I had to spend another $20 to ship it back to them and then just wait. Eventually I heard back and they didn't tell me anything about the mic or any issues but rather said they will try to send me a replacement but they didn't have any in stock. So I would have to wait even longer. Pretty quickly they got one in stock luckily and then I was sent the replacement mic in the mail. I set it up last night and gave it a try. Just like before the wire doesn't work but mine do. The program even though I had it set up before gave me problems. And the big kicker is that it is having the same exact issue as before where the mic just stops working and I have to unplug and replug it for it to work again. I did some research and found others have had many issues with this specific mic and with RODE's AWFUL customer support system. I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this mic and any RODE products for that matter. I am about $340 in the hole for this purchase and they refuse to refund me a dime. ... show more

  • Hardly any Background
Color: PodMic USB Black
Loving it! First off I love the signature look and style that they use across their products. It's just frikking nice to look at! Setting it up was easy. Ready to go straight out of the box. I was concerned for a moment when I saw the USB-C to USB-C cord that it comes with. Luckily though I discovered that I do have such a port on my laptop. But hey that was a close one. This review could have gone differently. Also I have a Rode USB mic from a few years ago which I was able to remove the stand from and hook it onto my new PodMic. So that was really cool since the PodMic doesn't come with any kind of stand. Tested it out on my DAW of choice and it sounded really crisp yet warm. Immediately had that nice podcast feel. I played with it while creating a new default preset chain for it which was also telling about the sensitivity. Yeah being close up on it is beneficial but I didn't feel that it was as serious as some people make it seem in the reviews. Maybe it depends on what you're trying to use it for. As of right now I'm not intending to use it for a podcast. I'm making recordings with it. It really doesn't pick up a lot of background noise and even when I normalized the recording there was hardly any background, which is even more awesome for when I go to isolate it and remove it there will be less to detract from the original quality of the recording! Yes!!! Yeah so I'm really happy with it and though I don't remember exactly how my first USB mic performed a few years ago, I think this PODMIC does better even though it may be intended for something different than Rode's first USB mic. ... show more
