  • A GREAT, great deal. Very good speakers
I like the (red) heat sinks on the back. I haven't driven them too hard yet, so I don't know how hot they can get, so be advised there at the end of a show or something if you get these so as not to touch them and end up with a blister you'sd rather not have. I've never actually wanted one, but, hey shtuff happens, right? ANYWAY... 5 Stars really does not completely sum these Rockvilles up. Starting with what's fresh in my mind: they stack one upon the other more solidly, with more stability with their competing, closer to high, low-high end brethren JBL EONS and MACKIE THUMPS. I like these for the flexibility and access to highs via the 'treble' attenuator on the back. Adding value to this are the stands, carry bags and cables. I'm waiting still on the arrival of the cables as they were shipped separately but looking at them online, Rockville cut corners to keep the price down by including cheesy ones that will at least get you started. Careful ordering Mogamis online as I have seen what I believe are counterfeits. Cable matters offers good value as well as my personal cables of favor Media Bridge. The stands included, unless a seller throws in a substitute for the Rockville stands on you, are SOLID. I'm very happy with their stands. I have trust enough I put my EONS up on them. The carry bags have good eye appeal and I like the name. Remember or ever hear an old REM tune "Don't Go Back To ~?" ANYWAY: The inputs might be considered maybe sub-semi-pro, but the fact that you can so easily jack an a any phone with a headphone jack, or MP3 player into the RCA inputs, whoa. For a small outdoor, backyard party? If everybody you invited likes the same kind of music, you'll be very pleased with the results. Sound quality, if you're at a large gathering having a good time is anyone litening for fine tonal differences? Would they say, "Hey. You 'should have bought the ___ ____ or the >>>_____. These speakers are under rated. One reviewer is obviously new to DJ gear noted that the cases are made of plastic...etc. and spoke negatively of them. Hopefully they have more experience now and feel stupid for saying something that ignorant. I've been there, done that... so no biggie EXCEPT truthfully, the hard shell casing looks very durable to me. This is not something to just throw around any more than anything else you shelled out your money for and want the most out of. HANDLE WITH CARE ANYWAY! The stuff will last longer. People go throwing stuff around and expect no damage with an "This thing's a piece of garbage," attitude and that's what they'll have while someone like myself for instance with the exact same thing, treating it reasonably with care with normal wear and tear bumps you expect and watch out for so as not to do that too often... The bottom line is, these spaekers are under rated. In terms of economics, maybe the demand for speakers are down so that's affecting the price of these? Rockville wants to just get their brand out there and seen maybe? Large, music supply stores where I got AWESOME deals over the Christmas 2016 holidays are now selling EONS an MACKIES at inflated prices now. The same one I bought are a LOT more expensive now that February has come. AND stands are not included which ARE by most sellers here on Amazon. If you have the resources or the money's a little tight but you have enough to invest in a DJ rig by going with these, you're crazy if you don't get these. Just starting out JBL, Mackie QSC might not only be out of range for you but things you can add on as you grow. I don't know why I'm putting all this out there, but I have and that's all you're getting out of me for now. Great deal folks. GOOD LUCK! Myself, I'm going to put these babies to GOOD use. Very happy with the dough invested. (Oh, the logo in front of these lights up red. Looks really cool to as far as I'm concerned and if people go to see you, unless they're over envious, more like hatin' jealous, they'll like them too. Seriously. WFN LAS VEGAS, NV USA ... show more

  • Don't be fooled by the price!
Ok, so I'll start off by saying that it's hard to find much info on these speakers, or the rockville brand. There is some info and YouTube reviews, but it's sparse compared to better known brands. This sketches out most buyers ... me included. So I researched every crumb I could find for the past year and decided to give them a try. For anyone who's researched these, you'll see that they are basically Chinese sourced clones of the Mackie Thump, with some slight "Rockville" design, internal component and esthetic changes. That being said ... Don't, and I repeat DON'T sell these bad boys short! These things are worth every penny and more! I have heard many powered P.A. speakers, and these things are exactly what you might expect from a speaker in the competitive range of the Mackie Thump, but at a fraction of the cost. I thought I was just a bit biased, or maybe in denial, since they were mine now. So I talked to a friend of mine who is an audio engineer and also works at a music store that just so happens to sell the 15" mackie thump. He knows the speaker up and down, so I figured it would be good for him to check the Rockvilles out. First off, all the power specs are identical to the Mackies. Same peak and rms values. The Rpg15's are quite "bright" on the treble end and will require e.q. adjustments so your ears don't bleed, lol. Seems like there is a bit too much wattage being directed towards the tweeter. But once you get all the e.q.ing done, they sound very nice and full. Plenty of deep, rich bass and more than enough treble on tap since you'll have to turn the speaker's treble knob to about the 1/4 mark. So I fired up just one, so he could properly assess it. We ran it through some tests with different genres of music at all ranges of volume right to the point of clipping, and he said, (and I quote) " Damn, these things sound every bit as good as the Thumps ... maybe even a little bit better... and for that price!" I was impressed that he liked the sound, even at full volume, just as much as the Mackies he knows and loves... and makes commission off of. So then I turned the second Rpg15 on, and two passive Rockville 15" subs that I'm powering with a 300w per channel crown cts600 amp (100w under-powered at 400w rms btw) and we beat the house down! It was so booming and clear at full volume, that I looked over to my sound tech friend and saw him grinning from ear to ear and shaking his head. I asked him what he thought about it and he just kept saying that he couldn't believe it for the price. So, as a club/mobile DJ with 16 years exp., I'm definitely giving the Rockville brand my seal of full approval for anyone who would need to put together a more than adequate mobile audio setup on a budget. This particular deal from Audiosavings is awesome since it comes with stands, a bag for the stands, cables and the speakers. Only 400 freakin' dollars! And the subs I got were from Audiosavings also, and they were only $185ish for two of those! Of course I did have the Crown CTS600 to power them so I didn't have to buy an amp. But all in all, I spent slightly less than $600 on speakers and got the two powered Rpg15's, two passive 15" subs, two tripod stands (which aren't top dollar, btw. But are plenty sturdy enough for confident gig use), two xlr cables and a gig bag for the stands. In comparison, for that same $600 I could have gotten two of the Mackie Thumps with nothing else. ($300ea) Or I could have gotten, roughly, one JBL Eon. ($500-$600 range ea.) Although these Rockvilles aren't JBL Eons, I guarantee you that my 4 15's, two of which are subs, sound better than one JBL. I don't care what kind of audiophile or label jockey you are. There is no contest in the sound quality/output per dollar spent. I'm thoroughly satisfied, and eventually plan to get another one of the RPG15 package deals! To anyone out there considering these, all I can really say is that I'm 100% satisfied with them so far, and I'll continue suggesting them to anyone who wants the most boom for their buck. ... show more

  • big sound, small price
there is seriously no info from consumers on these speakers. at least not when i bought them. but thats what im here for! i received the packages a day earlier than the estimated delivery date, and i even got a confirmation email marking them as shipped, on EASTER SUNDAY!!!!! i couldnt believe it. i would have received them on wednesday the 23rd, but i wasnt home to sign for them so instead i opted to have them dropped at the nearest fedex location. after picking them up, i was insanely excited. i couldnt wait. i got them home and unpacked them immediately. the boxes were a bit rough, but the items inside all looked fine. i took them inside and plugged everything in, to discover that one of the tweeters were not working. i was mortified. i wanted to give these guys 5 stars, but because of that, only 4. it was a quick fix! one of the terminals on the tweeter itself had come undone, and was flopping around attached to the wire inside the cabinet. after reattaching the terminal and plugging the wire back in (less than 5 minutes) i was back in action. it worked flawlessly, sounded great, and they are LOUD. i was truly impressed. these will be enough to fill a good sized venue no problem when its hooked up to a sub to compliment the already thumping low end. the sound is tight and clear, and this is all only from what i can tell you in my room! i'll update this as i use them more to catch up with reliability. but from what i understand, rockville has a pretty decent warranty so im not super worried. so time will tell for now. but until next time, i highly recommend these for the DJ, production team, band or whatever on a budget. these will fill in my top end nicely! if you have any questions about them, please feel free to ask me! i'll be happy to help with a variety of subjects! ... show more
