Almost did 4 start, because it's not perfect, but thr only bitch i have is one fan is a little weak, but it hasn't overheated to the point of blowing up yet. Have had 2 of these for 2-3 years, I never write good reviews until I am satisfie that the item is well built and durable. (too many seem to do 5 stars just because something works upon arival). at this price, I am amazed at a great power amp. Sounds good and will definatly blow up a pair of Mach2 160W speakers. however, I agree with the reviewers who say the fans are too loud. Would be fine in a Band setting with high Volume, but in the living roo at low volume, they need to be in another room, Otherwise this is one of the best deals I ever ran into!!!. great with a Behringer mixer ahead and XLR feeding these. Feeding a pair of Mach2s inthe house, and the other, a pair of Mach2s outside. Have to be careful with the amplitude so not to blow the speakers. Can hear clearly 1/4 mi away. ... show more

  • Amazed at what I got for the price - happy so far.
The amp is very nice. My fans are quiet at my power level. In fact, my computer fans are louder; perhaps after running with more power and heat they will kick-in. Construction is very nice. I do not believe the power rating stated (peak or rms).... I believe it is less, but without testing it......nevertheless, this amp is terrific. Clean, great sound for the price and works very well with my OSD Audio Pre-1 mixer / preamp. My speakers are home-made. Running (2) 8" woofers (low freq woofer and a low-mid woofer), a Bema horn from France when they were available.... running with my JBL 2445J , which is a 2446 Compression Mid Driver (16 ohm), and running a bullet tweeter. Crossovers are home made using 12GA wire (yes, very big and will never burn out). Anyway, I have only been using this amp for a few days but no regrets. In the future I will probably order 2 more of these amps to allow for 5.1 system, but still allow me to run 1 amp for 2ch music. To me, running the 5.1 / 7.1 / 9x /11x system never sound the same for listening to simple music on 2 channels. Many of the new and former stereo's over the past 20 years with all their "sound effects" do not support adequate current to drive speakers. They put too much of the special effects garbage (like toilet bowl, bedroom, auditorium, etc.... sound effects which are useless to me) and they could have made a better amp section. I also love Mac amps but could not afford at this time - maybe later. In the mean time I am happy with it. I will update as time goes on. ... show more

  • GREAT SOUND. NOT HIGH WATTAGE AS ADVERTISED.
This is my second Rockville amp. I had bought their highest powered model amp before. RPA16. It was advertised at 3000 watts rms. But I think that was well over rated. But I did want a smaller power amp for a more portable system and for practice. This RPA9 arrived in good condition. Seems to work fine. A very good sound. But I doubt very much it is 800 watts RMS. It seems closer to 200 watts running my mics full on through my mixing board. Running music from my Bluetooth connection is definitely high volume. This probably because DJ systems have a higher preamp. If you're a disc jockey it will run your larger shows. But if you are miking your band through a mixing board, it would only be loud enough for small to perhaps/maybe medium venues. I would suggest one of their higher powered amps. Rockville seems to over rate their power amps output. But I will say that all the Rockville products I have bought, work well and sound good. I am returning it for the next size up. ... show more

  • Had to download the operation manual. One done, all went smoothly
Has a high rooftop power peak that maintains music clairity in high volume enviroments. Setting up a new DJ music system went smoothly witout issues.

  • Good for adding weight to your rack, but not much else
I really wanted to like this amp for my mobile DJ setup, but there is not much good I can say about it. The case, connectors and knobs seem to be of decent quality for the price point. Unfortunately, the specs are majorly inflated vs actual performance. I only discovered this after difficulty mounting in my rack due to the mounting holes not aligning well to standard spacing. (6 other devices all line up well in the same rack) I bought this amp specifically to drive a pair of Rockville 3-way 12" 8 ohm pa speakers that I normally only use as a backup to my normal main speakers. I had a more crowded gig than normal this weekend so I decided to add this amp and use my backups in addition to my primary speakers. In order to drive them marginally I had to crank the gain all the way. With pretty much no headroom left it was all this amp had to drive the speakers well below their normal output as compared to my powered mixer output which is only 400 Watt. Keep in mind I've never pushed them beyond about 70% of my mixers max. The sound quality was also not as crisp through the Rockville amp. After reading many positive reviews, I thought this unit may stand a chance, but it just doesn't measure up in the real world. At the price I knew it wouldn't keep up with my Peavy or Mackie amps which are only rated 1500w - 1/2 the Rockville's rating, but I really thought it could be suitable to drive a couple of 12" pa cabinets that preformed well with the 400 Watt mixer output. Maybe the positive reviews are from better success with 4 ohm speakers, but even if that's the case, the amps power ratings are still grossly overstated. I plan on switching to an unpowered mixer in the near future and adding additional amps to my rack. I was hopeful that this amp would be suitable for that task, but it clearly falls short. I would have to use 2 of these amps and settle for lesser sound quality to replace my current 400 Watt output. ... show more

  • Not rated as advertised.
Writing a new review on this because last one was little harsh. These are good amps for driving passive subwoofer. But! Now that ive figured out the input sentivity on the amp is horrible. You need buy a line level voltage booster to get the rated power from this amp. That being said I submitted a return on the amp because before I added the booster this amp was barely audible even bridged. Now it preforms exactly how I hoped it was would according to rated specs. Its a great amp but you absolutely need a line level booster to get it to work like advertised. Honestly they should have that listed so people dont return them like I almost did. ... show more
