  • My initial experience with the RPG15BT in a Karaoke setup
My interest in this item was for it to serve as a primarily for-voice loudspeaker for Karaoke purposes. I had read in an article somewhere that using regular music speakers for karaoke sessions (especially enthusiastic ones) would not only compromise the voice reproduction but also the music reproduction. The article claimed that music speakers were not designed to faithfully reproduce voice input. Additionally, it mentioned that the for-music speakers could suffer some damage when used for voice inputs which were meant to be reproduced by for-voice loudspeakers. Whether true or not, I was not willing to risk the hardware health of my for-music speakers - Bose 901 Series V speakers - which at this time is quickly approaching its 30th anniversary. My intention was to channel voice inputs solely through the Rockville RPG15BT speaker while channeling the karaoke/minus-one/accompaniment background music through the Bose 901s (driven by a Carver M400t). The karaoke minus-one/accompanying music would also be inputted into the Rockville speakers. The music source is from a laptop PC through its headphone output port and, through a splitter, the audio content is distributed (1) to the amp driving the Bose 901s and (2) to the RCA input ports on the Rockville RPG15BT. After some configuration/re-configuration, I was able to accomplish this. As originally expected, the Rockville was unable to reproduce the music component of the audio as well as the Bose 901s. But the Rockville speaker was able to reproduce the voice input/component of the karaoke performance in a way the Bose 901s did not. And it was LOUD. Am still playing with the equalization settings for the Rockville speaker so it's possible that there will be some incremental improvement in the fidelity of music reproduction though I can't see how it can approach the fidelity of the Bose 901s to any appreciable extent. So I now presumably have the best of both worlds for my karaoke set-up; i.e. the musical fidelity with the Bose 901s for the background/accompaniment music and the loud and robust sound of voice inputs on the Rockville speakers performing together. Eventually, I hope to integrate my Behringer Xenyx 1202FX audio mixer into my karaoke setup so I can incorporate more sound effects and accommodate as many as 6 microphones into the karaoke setup. Not sure if anyone's noticed but once karaoke singers get wound-up, they are no longer given to either giving up their microphones or stop singing. On the performance of the Rockville speaker itself, as far as I can see and have experienced, it performs pretty much in the manner described in the item description. USB connection works okay playing mp3 files using either a flash drive or a portable hard disk. Haven't tried the Bluetooth or SD components. My greatest apprehension (fortunately unfounded) was to receive an item that wouldn't work initially. But as most electronic equipment go, once it performs continuously without problems during the entire "burn-in" period, it should work well for the next several years. BTW, being the miserly penny-pincher that I am, I placed my order of this item with Audiosavings (listed as "Other Sellers") as their item price was $10 lower with no other additional charges (price offered was net). I notice that the equipment emits a noticeable "hum" while idling. Not sure if this is typical of this genre of audio equipment. Once the music and the voice inputs get going though, the "hum" is no longer noticeable or in any case drowned out by the audio being played/sung. Will try to post updates to this review if I encounter any significant experience with the Rockville RPG15BT that other prospective buyers may find useful. ... show more

  • Good bang for your buck. I am glad I got the 15 over the 12
I wanted this for a PA for presentations and some basic music around the house. The bluetooth option allows you to send music to it and it works great. Loud enough for most music, movies and definitely voice. Decent sound for the money, some distortion at high volume but I don't know if its the speaker or some from the input as well. Wheels could be a little larger diameter, stumbles on small rocks across the parking lot. I like it because I can use it like a giant bluetooth speaker in the garage, shop, barn or out in the yard. ... show more

  • Do not buy ! Waste of money!!
Bought this speaker for around $300, after 1 or 2 uses it started to crackle a little, especially with heavy base, after a only a dozen or so uses over a year it stop working all together. by the time I got around to calling the mfg (which is hard to get a hold of) they told me the 1 year warranty expired and there is nothing they could do, they dont even have an option to send in for repair, they told me to bring it to a local repair shop! Terrible product ! and even worse customer service / support !! what a joke, piece of junk ! ... show more

  • Nice speaker, horrible remote and lights
I don't usually write reviews in Amazon but when I do, I review a Bad asss Speaker! :) Pros: Well, this speaker sounds really good. Strong deep and tight bass, highs are not amazing but very good. it's light weight, comparing to my old Behringer eurolive, It is definitely an upgrade. Amp has nice volume knobs, nice inputs and outputs, EQ is a great idea, very useful. There is a weak delay and reverb effect but nice to have them. I don't need to use the bluetooth. Also, I haven't use them yet but wheels and handle is a good idea too. Cons: Some reason I though that the remote can turn it on/off. I get excited about that but you can't actually use remote for On/off. And there is no on/off button in front of the speaker so I have to reach behind the speaker and push on power switch. There is light in front but it is too bright and the logo is not evenly diffusing the light so it look very cheap, too bright and wrong. I just unplug the cable and turn it off permanently. Although if they could made the light like KRK speakers does, I would be happy to keep it on. It could be cool if the can point the light to the woofer and illuminate it. Anyways, overall I like this speaker because the main purpose was the sound and it is good. it is also looks beautiful in general and the price is great. ... show more

  • Clear & Loud, compares to much more expensive systems
I was totally skeptical about this unit doing so much all for $189, yet when I got it going on Bluetooth from an old iPhone 6 it rocks LOUD and CLEAR. We have a $10k home theater system with Great audio a Denon receiver 7.2 bought new at Magnolia with pro install all less than a year ago, rated at 1300 watts, and Polk Audio speakers. That system is awesome but this particular speaker sounds just as good and goes just as loud! And we have a JBL Charge 2, 2+, and 3 all awesome bluetooth speakers that sound clear. This speaker sounds just as clear and goes MUCH MUCH louder. I'm convinced now, it is a solid deal, a real no-brainer so much so I did this review and don't do many reviews. We got the 15" sub 1000w version and love it. ... show more
