  • Some of them are great, but it still leaves you wanting more songs
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Remastered + Cable
I'm going to start with the cons because I'm really bitter about the cons, and I might not have bought the game if I knew them beforehand. Cons: 1. YOU WOULD HAVE TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO BUY THE COMPLETE GAME. You have to buy songs if they don't come with the game, which comes with 30 or so songs. Some of them are great, but it still leaves you wanting more songs. Each additional song is $3 if you buy them individually. You can buy song packs that range from $6-$20 (I think there's a $40 one), and the $6 pack is classical music.... AND the cheapest packs that aren't classical music are $8 for 3 songs. In what world would anyone want to pay that much money for more songs? They could make so much more money with a pricing model that's more attractive to customers. It's unbelievable. I'll stick to YouTube if I want to learn new songs. 2. If you use the cable, there's a delay. It's bad enough to make you lose tempo if you're not playing with recordings, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. 3. The tutorials that teach you how to bend the strings is frustrating because you have to do it a certain way. I spent 10 minutes trying to get one bend right, and I've been playing for 10 years. PROS: 1. It's super fun. Even with the cons, I don't regret buying the game because you still get a ton of playing hours with the content that comes with the game. 2. It actually teaches you how to play. If you're skeptical about this at all, don't be. You will develop muscle memory and finger strength without even knowing it. 3. The session function is pretty cool. It's definitely not perfect, but it's enough to keep me busy for a while. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY , ITEM NOT VERSION LISTED NOR VERSION FROM U.S !
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Remastered + Cable
The item I received was in fact not the item listed! It was not the "Remastered" version of Rocksmith nor is it the US Version! The game was an EU import game which is not compatible with the US version of any DLC on the US Playstation store thus making the game sold not as listed!

  • Good for all guitarist but DO YOUR RESEARCH.
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Remastered + Cable
This is a great tool for any guitarist aspiring or seasoned. The problems are abundant from the start, at least in the PlayStation 4 version. I will try to explain what it took to get it working probably. So I order this after a friend (who owns it on computer) recommended it. Now truth be told I trusted the friend and did not do my research on this version. It was on sale on the PlayStation store for $5.99. That being said I purchased a USB/guitar cable separately (not the Realtone version). Needless to say it didn’t work. Upon searching for the correct cable which is REQUIRED TO PLAY, I found out it was quite expensive. So I made the decision to repurchase the game with the cable because it was cheaper than buying the cable alone. So I got the disc and the REAL TONE cable. First thing after installing it I realized that the game, although sold as new from Ubisoft, was used, the code for extra songs that came with my game was “already used”. Then starting the game with the Realtone cable, it worked-ish. It was extremely delayed. Further research spotlighted a flaw in the game, audio delay due to the HDMI cable. Long story short I had to buy a audio converter (relatively cheap) to take the optical audio out of the PlayStation (back) to red/white audio then to 1/8” normal aux input to any speakers. It sounds complicated but it’s not. I have studio type monitors that worked, I also tried out to a sound bar but it was still delayed. You need quality speakers or monitors. I then had to mute the tv and change the PS4 setting to optical out, linear PCM. That setup gives you ZERO delay. Once that is ready you can enjoy the many features this game has. Is it worth it, yes if you don’t want to pay for expensive traditional lessons, it’s an inexpensive way to get started as it teaches ALL THE BASICS OF GUITAR. Even strap setup, stumming, pick use, all the way up to advance scales and chords. It just takes a lot of extra stuff to make this work and it seems Ubisoft has ignored this fact and put out a less than ready product and allowed the general public to fix their problems that should have been remedied before the it was released. So the credit goes to community of innovative people not willing to settle on a half-a**** product release. Also plays better with humbuckers instead of single coils pickups. ... show more

  • The software isn't the best and they rob you with their DLC.
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Remastered + Cable
When I first got the game, I was really excited to learn guitar. I didn't mind the lag from the guitar to the tv or the fact that it isn't very good at catching your mistakes. I did, however, mind the fact that the songs that come with it are the loser songs that no one wants. But it wasn't like I needed 60 songs to play at once anyways. So I bought the game knowing what songs the DLC had to offer. I get my game, I buy my dlc, and the game recognizes that I have bought it. Buuuut........ It won't let me use the song at all whatsoever. I looked all over for the song, but it will never appear in my list of songs. Now, the only use for this game is as a black hole, it has no worth to me and sucks my money in with nothing in return. I could have burned my money, but that would have been better than the game because it provides me heat for 10 seconds. ... show more

  • Well worth the money!
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Remastered + Cable
Owned this on PS3, and my cable to the guitar had some problem where I got very bad feedback, so I quit playing. When The PS4 version came on sale for the holidays for the same price as a new cable, I had to buy. It's a lot of fun. It teaches you so much about how a guitar is played, and different techniques. Is it the perfect teacher? No. But you can learn so much, and at your own pace, on your own time. I cannot afford to pay someone to sit there and explain all of this stuff to me like this software can. Once I get better I will incorporate real lessons into my practice, but this is such a huge help for anyone who wants to get started in guitar. I had no musical experience prior to buying this, but I am loving it. I recommend strating with rythym guitar first. I started lead guitar before, and it was much harder to understand guitar starting from zero knowledge. ... show more
