At Reel Yaks, we’re more than a kayak company — we’re a team of anglers and adventurers who live for the water. Whether it’s the thrill of the catch, the calm of sunrise paddles, or the satisfaction of a great workout, we know how transformative these moments can be. That’s why we don’t just sell kayaks — we design innovative, high-quality modular fishing kayaks that offer portability, compact storage, and hands-free pedal propulsion. Reel Yaks was founded to create modular, pedal-drive fishing kayaks that are easy to carry and store. Our mission is to make kayaking more accessible, convenient, and enjoyable for all. Our modular kayaks break down for easy storage and feature pedal drive propulsion, a stable W-hull, and ample storage, offering hands-free control and comfort. Our lightweight modular kayaks offer quick assembly, compact storage, and hands-free propulsion, perfect for small spaces and hassle-free transport. Customize, expand, or downsize with separate sections for easy transport, storage, and unmatched versatility on the water. Make each kayak your own by adding fishing gear, rod holders, bait, and other equipment to match any adventure on the water. Choose a smooth fin drive for stealth or a powerful propeller drive for speed. Reel Yaks offers the perfect ride each time. Add rod holders, storage modules, and more—modular kayaks allow tailored setups to suit your exact fishing preferences. Break down for a convenient carry and stow without a sweat. No roof racks needed. Just grab and go to your favorite fishing spot. Reconfigure your kayak for lakes, rivers, or coasts. We have a kayak for all environments, ensuring the best setup for any angler. Our tandem kayaks offer space, stability, and comfort — perfect for couples, friends, family outings, or solo trips on the water. Reel Yaks modular kayaks offer versatility, fishing upgrades, and various drive systems for reliability and freedom to do it all. How easy is it to assemble the two-piece kayak? Reel Yaks kayaks are modular hard-shell designs that break down into multiple manageable sections for easier transport and storage. Assembly is tool-free and designed to take only a few minutes once you are familiar with the process. What tools are needed for assembly? No tools are required. Reel Yaks kayaks are designed for tool-free assembly, allowing the sections to be connected quickly before launching. How long does it take to put together? Assembly typically takes only a few minutes once you are familiar with the system, since the modular sections are designed to connect quickly without tools. Does it come with all necessary accessories (stadium seat, rod holder, paddle)? Reel Yaks kayaks come ready to use with essential accessories included. This includes a stadium seat, rod holders, and paddle(s), so you can head straight out on the water without needing extra gear. Will it fit in my car/SUV without roof racks? Yes. Reel Yaks kayaks are modular hard-shell designs that break down into sections that can fit in many sedans, hatchbacks, and SUVs, eliminating the need for roof racks or trailers. How much does each section weigh? Each section is designed to be carried by one person. Depending on the model, sections typically weigh between 27 and 51 lbs, making them manageable for solo transport. What are the exact dimensions when disassembled? When disassembled, each section is compact and easy to store. Most modular sections range from approximately 55" to 65" in length, depending on the model. Do the sections come with storage bags? Reel Yaks kayaks do not include storage bags. However, the modular sections are designed to stack neatly or store easily in small spaces like apartments or garages. How stable is it for standing and fishing? Reel Yaks kayaks are designed with wide, stable hulls and flat standing areas, allowing anglers to stand and cast depending on water conditions and load. Can two people use it safely (adult + child)? Some Reel Yaks models are designed for solo or tandem use, allowing two people to paddle together. Examples include the 14ft Raptor and 14ft Raider (Prop Drive) models. How fast does the pedal drive propulsion work? Prop drive systems provide forward and reverse propulsion, making them useful for maneuvering around structures, docks, and fishing areas. Is it suitable for saltwater fishing? Reel Yaks kayaks are made from durable rotomolded polyethylene. This material is resistant to corrosion and suitable for use in saltwater environments. Are there known issues with the rudder system or steering cables? The rudder system is reliable but may require occasional adjustment over time. Simple cable tension adjustments can quickly resolve most steering issues. How durable are the propeller fins and connections? The propeller drive components are built for durability and regular use. However, like most pedal systems, they should be protected from impacts with rocks or obstacles to avoid damage. What's covered under the 2-year coverage? Reel Yaks covers defects for original buyers: hull/deck 2 yrs, pedal drive 1 yr, parts/accessories 90 days. Excludes wear, misuse, accidents, mods, transport damage, and commercial use. Kayaks must be registered within 30 days of purchase. Raptor Radar Rocket Rapido Raider

  • The 5 latches hold the two sections solid
Style: Fin Drive
The kayak locks together with 3 latches on the bottom and two on the top. There is no leaking at the connection between the two sections. It comes with the seat risers so don't buy them. It is stable to sit in but I don't feel confident to try standing. The pedal fin system works well. Water is not a problem in the area where the paddles assembly drops into the bottom of the kayak. Bringing up the rudder with the provided small rope pulley system is very difficult. The seat is perfect. The straps that hold the back of the chair in place do not interfere with my arms. I"m 68 in half decent shape, but I can move the kayak along just fine with the pedals. I don't have a problem with keeping the kayak away from the shore. I can turn the rudder full in the direction away from the shore or obstacle and it will drift away from the obstacle. The couple of times I got stuck on a log I pulled up the rudder (difficult), pulled up the pedals (easy), and pushed off with the paddle. I bought the 7" hummingbird fish finder but I think the 5" would have served better for the space and track available. I tried mounting the transponder in the space designed for it, underneath, with screws but they would not hold. The transponder did not fit the width for the built-in threads. I finally modified the included transponder mount by drilling a new hole close to the edge of the mount. Then I used the bolt and built-in threaded input, which worked. I'm not sure how you could go wrong with this fishing kayak. ... show more

  • Good Quality
Style: Fin Drive
Hubby LOVES his fishing kayak! On our last camping trip, we camped next to a couple that had the "come-apart" kayaks (different brand) and they let him try it out. When we got home he did some research and decided on the Reel Yaks because he wanted one primarily for fishing. He is really, really happy he made the decision to get the ReelYak. ... show more

  • Nice
Style: Fin Drive
I really like it. There are a few things could be improved like the rudder control possibly being damaged because it sits higher than the side and the rudder itself could be bigger. Very stable, tons of room, comfortable seat and the riser is awesome. Check ALL of the fasteners, half of mine were loose. Also the pedal drive was not properly adjusted. Otherwise a great price for a good kayak. ... show more

  • Ultimate in Yak Portability
Style: Fin Drive
Why did it take so long for someone to invent the modular kayak? I will never go back to a 1-piece yak. So much easier to load/unload two pieces from the back of my SUV. 35" beam makes it very stable...easy to stand up if your balance is good. Given the wide width and short length, it is not fast or track dead straight (as expected). Lots of useful features for fisherman. Two minor shortcomings: The supplied 220cm paddle is too short for the kayak's width. Most paddlers will need a 250-260cm paddle. I paddle to fishing spots then use the fin drive when fishing. Lock washers should be included to secure wing nuts to rudder cables. Wing nut came loose and fell overboard on second trip, rendering the rudder useless. Easy fix with trip to hardware store. Fully assembled, the yak weighs close to 100 pounds. You will want a scupper hole kayak dolly to wheel it from your vehicle to the water. Handles on both ends and sides makes this a snap. Yeah...1-piece yaks cost less. For me, the convenience and ease of storing and transporting a modular yak is worth the investment. ... show more
