Thick & good quality deninm. I’ve been wearing rock & republic for years & it’s tried and true. I’ve have pants/capris for a very long time & still holding up. I have a big stomach I’m self conscious about & hate pants that go only half way up & cut my belly in half so it flops over. NOT the case here, high waisted & controls my tummy. R&R is true to size, but on the tight side, in my opinion. I bought a different color in 16 and will be exchanging for the same as these. 18. Very happy! ... show more

The white shorts fit perfectly in my normal size, but you should know that they are a bit see through. They were soft and stretchy while also compressing that lower belly fat.The dark jeans, same size, seem to be quite a bit smaller. I could not even get them on.

I’m 5’2” and 113lb. Waist about 27’ and hips 38’. Got the size 4 and they’re fitting but not too snug - they don’t look like they’re too big but I could size down too. The fabric is thick but stretchy, seems like great quality to me. The waistband on me doesn’t cinch me in like some other high waist shorts, and does have a little gaping part at the small of my back - that’s why I could size down. But they’re really comfortable as is and it’s not noticeable so im keeping them. I don’t have to wrestle these ones on and off! I’d definitely buy again in other colors, and I’ll size down for some of them (sometimes you want the added support.) ... show more

I’m 5’2, 135ish lbs., and 49 years old. I got a size 8. The length is perfect and the shorts are really cute. What isn’t cute is that under the tummy control band, I have a pooch of redistributed flab- you know, the extra lower ab flab that I got with late in life motherhood. No matter how high or low I put the waistband of these shorts, the fat pokes out under it, like it only does with these shorts. Otherwise the shorts are flattering everywhere else, like on my rear and legs, when worn with a loose, flowy, or longer tunic top. I just can’t wear a shorter, fitted top, or do any tucking in of a top with them. Nothing is tight or ill-fitting besides the waistband, so a larger size would be baggier on me. Loved everything about these shorts - comfortable, not too long or too short, flattering. But the first time I washed them (with just normal detergent and nothing that would stain/bleach/leak color) they got several white patches. At first I thought maybe some soap just got trapped & they needed to be rewashed, but no - it's just like the color bled in those spots. ... show more

I read reviews bf I placed my order bc everyone saying they ran small and norm I wear a woman’s 12 but in them a sz 16 fits well and tbh once I wash they might be a little snug but I will update if that happens. They are really cute and light n stretchy so I can even wear on beach w my bathing suit top and have no shame bc they have a super high waist to hide my mommy belly…wearing on our cruise next week will update if any issues but I do think they are gonna be a new favorite tbh ... show more

This is just such a fantastic brand, and these shorts are so worth the price. Actually, compared to other shorts I've seen, they are quite affordable. Now for the fit - if Amazon recommends a size, go with that size. I've had several pair of these, and when I sized up or down, they didn't fit as well. They can be snug around the midsection, so if that's not your thing, and you prefer a looser fit, these may not be for you. These shorts hold up extremely well. I wore the same pair nearly every day last summer to walk my dogs, and they held up to the constant wear and repeated washing. I've had one pair for over six years, and they show no sign of deterioration. In fact, they look even better with the lived-in look. Quality denim material, as one would expect from the brand, so not too thin. I'll keep buying them - but they just keep going, so I don't expect I will for a while! ... show more
