I hope you read this, because it will shred away any doubt. You might be thinking, “this seems like it costs a lot” and it might seem that way, that is until you realize exactly what you’re getting here. This is NOT some little plastic piece together set with a motor and battery box you simply plug in and presto, it’s over—not at all! The educational value to this set is essentially CHEAP for all that it contains! If you’ll look at the photo I included, you will see a mother board! If you have a young one in your life that has interest in the sciences (or even mathematics fields would work here, too) then THIS is a gift that will not only help them in the future, but also be one of those gifts that they will NEVER forget! Much the way kids that were into mechanics and were lucky enough to get a visible v8 model back in the day…that’s a never forget sort of gift that lasts a lifetime. When I entered my first physics class at the college level, i recall when we had to build circuits and real-life problem solve in groups. My dad had taught he most of that stuff when I was still in primary school; however, you’d be surprised maybe that none of the other students knew how to do any of it…not one of them. I got to leave class after being there perhaps 10 minutes because I did. This might be some of the BEST money you spend this year. The set is full of functions to learn and the instructions are easy to not only follow, but they also do the most important…TEACH! It can be easy to reproduce something, but to understand it fully is a different thing…this does both! I cannot say enough about it because it truly impressed me that much. I am a parent and I’ve bought solar robotics, robotic arms and even that visible v8 for my daughter; however, I REALLY wish I had this available when she was younger! I also think the age range can include more on the older side of things because not everyone has a deep love of the sciences, but everyone can improve by learning and it can be fun…like, with this set! ... show more

Impressive project for learning AND fun This Smart Robot Arm Car Kit is a great hands-on project for anyone curious about robotics. The build was both challenging and really rewarding. The parts are sturdy, the instructions are detailed, and once everything is connected, it’s exciting to see how well it moves and responds. It can be controlled with an app or remote, which adds extra fun after the building and coding are done.   • Very cool project. Good quality components (except servos)

Initial impression is lot of small parts. This will be hard for an 8 year old. 12 year old maybe. Its more in depth than the last one I bought which had very flimsy servos that easily broke. Thankfully I still have replacement ones as these are the exact same cheap servos as the last kit. Directions are pretty straight forward. Materials are good quality except the servos. Software is intuitive. You need to go to Acebott's website to download to your laptop. Great project for those creative and mechanically inclined children and teens. Super cool idea with tons of functionality. You will need to order a single cell lipo battery sized 18650. Easy to find on amazon and very common battery for flash lights. ... show more

We didn't even unboxet or assemble it. We opened it in the first piece.We took out broke almost immediately. For the price , I didn't want something that was going to break before we even assemble it.

I would recommend starting off with the $60 starter kit and holding off on the add-ons like the robotic arm until you know if your kid will dive into this project. Also, order a 2-pack of the required batteries (Yuntunele 18650 rechargeable) from the get-go. My 8-year old was able to assemble the car by herself using the video on the app until she got to the steps with connecting the various wires. Then it required VERY close attention from both of us to get it right (I have attached photos of the trickiest part for us, and the final setup, since hands block the view during the video). I have learned since then from other reviews that there are also printed directions, but this wasn't obvious to me. We used the app, which does everything very quickly and also has some annoying carnival music, so I do wish I had found the printed instructions, lol. I'd suggest starting with the base car because a) the robot arm doubles the cost and b) you essentially have to take apart the car to switch it to the robot arm. And I suggest getting the batteries sooner rather than later because otherwise you'll get stalled in the building process. If you're on the fence of whether to get this STEM set at all, check out the free app - it'll give you an idea of what you're building and what you can do with it. ... show more
