Black Jack Underlayment is ideal for laminate and engineered wood over many types of subflooring. Black Jack is engineered as a superior, professional grade, 2-in-1 underlayment to properly install and protect your laminate or engineered wood floor investment for many years. The 2. 5 mm thick foam layer provides optimal cushioning and sound absorption. The closed cell foam design provides excellent moisture vapor resistance. Black Jack also includes a 4 in. overlap with adhesive strip to seal out moisture and join multiple rolls, making installation quick and easy.

I have now done 4 laminate flooring jobs thru out my home. This is the first time I have used this underlayment. It is much better than any others that I have used, providing a better and softer buffer for my Pergo XP laminate tile. It also is much easier to work with as it is less likely to move around and wrinkle than the more conventional products that I have used. I do recommend (as others have suggested) laying out the rows as you put down your flooring as this will certainly minimize the bunching up of the underlayment. Final result... A floor that feels much better supported and secured, yet still retains a soft, if ever so slight, cushion for my "old man" knees. If you can't find this product in your local store, pick it up on Amazon as it was well packaged to guard against damage and arrived in just about a week using the economy "free shipping" method. We just laid 1100 square feet on LVP and used this as our underlayment. Only 2 rooms had cement floors after tearing out the carpet, the rest was floated over linoleum. According to both the package and the website, a vapor barrier was not required underneath. This underlayment was fairly easy to lay down. We just drug the length out and cut it at the wall with a box cutter. In areas where I had to piece pieces in we used underlayment tape to tape it together, but you can also use packaging tape for that. Keep a broom handy to keep it clean before you put flooring on top of it. At first, the floors had a little bit of a clicking sound as you walked, but after 2 days that went away as the floor settled in. Our floors are quiet and have a very soft feel to them when you walk on them. This underlayment did exactly what I wanted, it was perfect. Not to mention it was also less than half the price of what you would pay at the big box store. I ordered two rolls of 600 ft and had plenty left over. ... show more

This product makes a huge difference when laying down luxury vinyl flooring. It helps to quiet noises and provides insulation. I bought enough to cover my entire house with it. It is the right thickness - not cheaply thin, but not too thick that it could affect the durability of my flooring. The adhesion strip peels off easily and adheres to the next section for a seamless transition. Price point is cheaper than at the store. Would purchase again if I end up laying down a new floor in the future! ... show more

For some reason, someone had returned this. It seemed unopened/unused. I had no issue with the product or installation. I didn't have to adhere it to itself due to the small size of the room (a closet) I used it in, and I have plenty left over.
