A roadside emergency kit is one of those purchases where success means you barely think about it. You throw it in the trunk, forget it exists, and hope it stays that way. The moment you need it, though, it instantly becomes the most important thing in the vehicle. This kit covers a lot of the basics that drivers should have on hand. Between the jumper cables, air compressor, first aid supplies, and assorted emergency tools, it provides a solid starting point for common roadside situations. Whether it is a low tire, a weak battery, or a minor emergency, having the supplies nearby beats wishing you had packed them. The included air compressor is particularly useful since tire pressure issues seem to happen at the least convenient times possible. The organization is also nice, keeping everything together instead of scattered around the trunk like automotive confetti. This is especially well suited for new drivers, college students, or anyone who has ever looked at a warning light and immediately started negotiating with the vehicle. This cat kit has everything I could really want in an emergency kit. I haven’t had to use it, thankfully, but it is stored in my jeep. I looked through it and everything seems super quality and is packed for ease of use. I hope to never have an emergency where I will need to use this kit, but if I do, I know I’ll be good. This is a really good value for the money. I think the case itself is incredibly durable material and has a handle for portability.

I obtained the VLITEPRO 109-piece roadside emergency kit to keep in my jeep. After unpacking and actually using several components in real situations, here’s an honest breakdown. What actually delivered value: The tow cable, jumper cables, tire repair kit, and air compressor are the stars here. When my neighbor’s sedan had a slow leak from a nail, the air compressor got him to the shop without changing the tire on the shoulder. It’s not fast, but it works. The jumper cables have clamps that feel substantial. The tow strap is sufficient for pulling someone out of a snow rut or shallow ditch. The reflective triangle, safety vest, and work gloves are basic but functional. The vest is thin mesh – fine for getting noticed, not for warmth. The gloves are cheap cotton with rubber dots; they’ll keep your hands clean changing a tire but won’t insulate against cold metal. Where the kit stumbles: Problem 1: The measuring tape is metric-only.
You’ll need your calculator to convert from mm to inches. For a kit sold on Amazon.com to US customers, a dual-unit tape is a no-brainer. This felt like a cost-cutting shortcut. Problem 2: The "Test Pencil" is useless for a car.
The kit includes a screwdriver-like tool labeled as a “test pencil”. No instructions explain how to use it. I tested it on my car’s 12V battery – positive to tip, negative to the handle cap and vice versa. Nothing. Reverse polarity. Nothing. No light, no sound, no continuity. I contacted VLITEPRO support. Their response revealed the issue: this is actually a 110/220V AC mains voltage tester for household outlets. It requires AC above 90V AND you touching the metal cap while the tip touches a live wire (not sure that is wise… in fact, NO it is not something you should ever do). It will never work on a car’s 12V DC system. So why is an AC voltage tester in a car emergency kit? Cars run on 12V DC. If you’re diagnosing a dead battery, blown fuse, or bad alternator, this tool gives you zero information. A $5 12V test light or basic multimeter would be infinitely more useful. Marginal items: (first aid kit and safety tools) • First aid kit: gauze patches, tape, safety pins, cotton swabs, a whistle, and one Mylar blanket. That’s it. No antiseptic wipes, no tweezers, no larger bandages. Fine for a paper cut on a picnic. Inadequate for an actual roadside accident. • Window breaker/seatbelt cutter: The blade is tiny. I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but it’s better than nothing. Who this is for (and who should avoid) Best for: • New drivers who need a basic, affordable starter kit • People who drive mostly in suburban/urban areas where a tow truck is 20 minutes away • Anyone who prioritizes having something over having nothing Avoid if: • You drive remote rural highways or in extreme winter conditions (you need a more robust kit) • You’re a serious DIY mechanic who needs practical diagnostic tools (the test pencil will frustrate you) • You expect a comprehensive first aid kit Comparison to other kits: I’ve previously owned a mid-tier kit from a well-known brand that cost about 40% more. That kit included a 12V test light, imperial/metric tape, and a better first aid kit – but no air compressor or tow strap. The VLITEPRO gives you more heavy-duty hardware (compressor, jumper cables, tow strap) but cuts corners on the small tools and medical supplies. Which trade-off you prefer depends on your risk assessment. Bottom line: This kit delivered on exactly half its promises. The jumper cables, air compressor, tow strap, and tire repair kit work as advertised. But the metric-only tape measure and the completely irrelevant AC voltage tester suggest the manufacturer didn’t think through the actual use case of a roadside emergency. If VLITEPRO swapped that test pencil for a $3 12V test light and added imperial markings to the tape, this would be a 4-out-of-5-star kit. As it stands, it’s a decent foundation – but verify every tool before you need it in an emergency.

A lot of these items are things I always make sure I have in my car but this kit goes above and beyond and includes everything in one convenient bag. There are so many things packed in here. 1. Carrying bag. Everything comes packed in a zippered red bag with reflective strips across the front. 2. Tire puncture repair kit. Sticky cord type with reamer, plunger and rubber glue. 3. Escape tool. It has a seatbelt cutter and window breaker. Probably better to keep this in the glove box or center console rather than keeping it in the bag. 4. First Aid Kit. Includes bandages, gause, tape, scissors, alcohol pads, cotton swabs, safety pins and foil blanket and whistle all packed in a clearly labeled, zippered red pouch. 5. Tool kit. Includes hammer, pliers, electrical tape, screw drivers (flat and philips), box cutter and measuring tape all enclosed in a form fitted tool box. 6. Work gloves. 7. Safety cone. Single cone is comprised of two pieces that interlock together and store flat when separated. 8. Safety veest. 9. Rain poncho. 10. Two strap. Webbed strap with metal hooks on each end. 11. Small air compressor. 12V air compressor with accessory plug for power. Only thing missing are road flares but not everybody is comfortable using those. Great peace of mind and should be prepared for any type of issue that wouldn't require a tow.

Better to have and not need it than to need it and not have it! Everything is pretty decent quality and would come in handy in emergency situations. The bandages and etc. come in a small bag so those went into my glove box, the seatbelt cutter went beside of my driver seat, and everything else fits neatly packed away in this reflective bag in my trunk. Very easy to take anywhere with you and will come in handy for emergency use. I've already used the air compressor and it pumped my tire faster than I expected. I'd say it's good value for the price.
