  • Works really well. A bit smaller than expected.
Overall, Im happy with the functionality of this device. Im using it with the Google Tv Streamer. It connected with no issues, and I can utilize the buttons to pretty much do everything I want it to do. The keyboard typing is a game changer, as I no longer have to just use the remote. My only gripe is that I was expecting it to be a bit bigger. Instead of a xbox size controller, its like a 3rd party mini one. Just check the sizing specs to make sure it will work for you. Ill get used to it. ... show more

  • A Great Pocket Sized Media Companion With Flipped Control Tradeoffs
If you are trying to navigate a media box, a home theater PC, or a smart TV, you already know how painful it is to type out passwords or search for titles using a standard remote control. This pocket-sized dual-mode keyboard is built exactly to solve that frustration, giving you a full keyboard and a responsive trackpad in a form factor that fits comfortably in your hands. After spending some time testing out the device, here is a breakdown of where it shines and where it stumbles. The setup is incredibly straightforward. It gives you both a 2.4GHz USB wireless dongle (which is tucked safely away inside the back cover) and Bluetooth connectivity. This means you can plug the USB receiver right into an older TV or streaming box for an instant, driver-free connection, or switch over to Bluetooth to pair it up with a tablet, laptop, or phone. Switching between the connection modes is quick, though the initial Bluetooth pairing process can feel a bit unintuitive since it requires toggling specific function keys alongside a separate pairing sequence. Once it is paired, however, it remembers your devices and reconnects reliably without dropping signals. For short typing sessions like entering login credentials, searching for a YouTube video, or firing off a quick message in a game chat, the keyboard does exactly what it needs to do. The keys are tiny, which is a natural tradeoff for something this portable, but they have a decent tactile feel. It also features multi-finger gestures on the touchpad, allowing you to click with a single finger, right-click with two fingers, and use a two-finger drag to scroll through pages smoothly. The RGB backlighting is another great addition for a dim media room or a dark bedroom, letting you change between eight different colors so you can actually see what you are typing without turning on overhead lights. However, the design choices on this specific iteration come with a clear ergonomic compromise. If you have used older versions of handheld keyboards, you might notice that the dedicated mouse click buttons have been moved to the front face of the controller. Because of this layout change, holding the unit with both hands means you have to perform a bit of a reach of faith with your thumbs to hit the mouse buttons, or physically remove one hand to click with your index finger. Having the mouse buttons placed along the top edge like controller triggers would have been much more natural and comfortable to hold. Additionally, while the keys work fine for quick entries, they can feel a bit spongy if you are trying to type out anything longer than a simple search query, and the trackpad can occasionally feel a bit jumpy if you are trying to do precision work. Pros: * Dual connection options with both stable 2.4GHz wireless and upto 3x Bluetooth 5.0 devices. * Extremely compact, lightweight, and highly portable for tech bags or couch use. * Convenient RGB backlighting with multiple color options for dark environments. * Smooth multi-finger trackpad gestures and a dedicated scroll wheel function. * Rechargeable battery via a modern Type-C port that holds a charge through days of casual use. Cons: * Spongy key feel that makes long-form typing tiring and frustrating. * Awkward placement of the mouse click buttons on the front face, requiring an uncomfortable hand reach. * Initial Bluetooth configuration and pairing steps are a bit convoluted. If you need a secondary input device to toss into your travel bag or keep next to your couch for streaming setups, this device is a highly practical utility tool. It completely eliminates the need to haul around a full-sized keyboard and mouse just to manage basic menu navigation or system configurations. As long as you are buying this for quick navigation, password entries, and media control rather than extensive computing tasks or long-form writing, it is an incredibly useful gadget that easily justifies its spot in your setup. ... show more

  • Sometimes you get what you pay for. Sometimes you get a little bit more.
Feels cheap and flimsy. The trackpad is about as good/bad as you would expect for the price. All of that aside, this thing has proven to be one of the most useful tools in my computing arsenal. The ability to switch between up to 4 devices on the fly is kind of nuts for something this cheap, and all of the other features like a scroll wheel and media keys just add to the value. This thing is ridiculously good if you take the time the learn the keyboard shortcuts to whatever OS you're using it with. ... show more

  • ⌨️ 📺 Easy Setup! Rechargeable Mini Keyboard That Makes Typing on Apple TV Fire TV a Total Breeze 🌟 ⌨️ 📺 Easy Setup! Rechargeable Mini Keyboard That Makes Typing on Apple TV Fire TV a Total Breeze 🌟
Effortless Multi-Device Pairing and Hardware Integration ⌨️ For streaming setups and media center environments that demand frequent text entry, navigating an on-screen alphabet wheel with a standard remote control introduces an unnecessary bottleneck. This X8 Mini Keyboard addresses this operational headache directly by providing standard QWERTY layout capabilities in a highly compact form factor. The product arrives in the retail box, which clearly details broad OS compatibility across Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, Smart TV, and PlayStation platforms. The unboxed kit, containing the handheld hardware, a detailed dual-mode user manual, and a standard USB charging cable. Highly Adaptable Connectivity Options ⚙️ From an engineering and utility perspective, the primary strength of this hardware lies in its flexible dual-mode architecture. Underneath the removable battery door panel, the chassis securely houses a dedicated 2.4GHz USB wireless dongle tucked directly alongside the rechargeable lithium battery pack. In addition to this standard RF connection, the internal wireless card features a multi-device Bluetooth sync module. The hardware pairs effortlessly and stabilizes connections across multiple separate operating systems. In practical production testing, switching between a streaming device and an alternative media box happens with zero pairing lag or dropouts. 📺When deploying this mini keyboard as an interface upgrade for popular streaming hardware, the experience varies depending on the specific application layers of the host device. The physical unit features a clear, high-contrast matte layout under normal lighting, and switches over to a vivid RGB backlit mode for dark rooms. When paired via Bluetooth with both an Amazon Fire TV Cube and an Apple TV, the keyboard layer performs flawlessly. It completely eliminates the slow process of hunt-and-peck search entries within demanding applications like YouTube. However, users should note a specific hardware limitation regarding gesture mapping: on both the Fire Cube and Apple TV platforms, the centralized multi-touch trackpad does not register any cursor or navigation functionality. Despite this specific OS-level trackpad limitation, the standard directional pad, the dedicated scroll wheel, and the highly responsive key matrix make this rechargeable controller an excellent, high-value asset for input-heavy media center workflows. ... show more

  • Great all-in-one secondary input device
My trusty universal remote is still finding use after nearly 15yrs, but for certain smart devices and when I want to use my laptop as a presentation/streaming device, it doesn't have the connectivity or features I need. The Rii X8 is here to fill the gap, and so far it does so quite well. It worked seamlessly with my LG TV. I just plugged in the 2.4ghz dongle and it picked it right up. I had misplaced the original remote, so having something plug-and-play without needing to fiddle with pairing a BT device was great. Having a full keyboard made it so much easier to set up my username and password for my different streaming services. Not every feature is exactly 1-to-1 with the old remote, but you can find ways to access anything you need to. The Bluetooth connectivity is great, too. I can easily pair it with my phone while taking photos/video to access more advanced functions than just using a wireless photo trigger. It works just as well as a remote for my laptop so I can connect to a larger display with a short HDMI run and can still control everything. The best part is it takes up a fraction of the space a full wireless keyboard and mouse combo normally would. Because of its slim profile, it slips nicely into my tech bag without the lumpy profile of a mouse. The trackpad seems accurate. I haven't noticed any jittering or skipping. The keys are responsive and don't miss any keystrokes. Connectivity has been stable the whole time I've used it. I can't yet speak to long-term battery life, but I've yet to need to charge this device after a few days of incidental use. So far it has been a great addition to my tech bag and I expect I'll continue to find more uses for it the longer I use it. I will update my review if anything changes, but right now I am very pleased with this device. ... show more

  • Perfect Couch Keyboard for a Living Room PC or Media Setup
Received this through the Amazon Vine program. With a PC gaming setup in the house and a finished basement that doubles as a media and gaming room, having a compact wireless keyboard that works from the couch without needing a hard surface to type on has been on the list for a while. The 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth dual connectivity means it pairs cleanly to the PC without fighting over connections when switching between devices, which comes up more than expected in a house with multiple gaming platforms and a handful of connected devices running at any given time. The built in touchpad handles basic navigation well enough that reaching for a separate mouse for light tasks is not necessary, which is the whole point of a form factor like this for couch or recliner use. Build quality is solid for a mini keyboard with clean finish on the keys and a layout that is compact without being so cramped that typing anything longer than a search query becomes frustrating. Fit in one hand while using the touchpad with the thumb is comfortable for the intended use case and the backlit keys are a practical touch for a dim basement gaming room where overhead lighting is not always on. Battery life has held up through regular use without needing a charge every few days the way some wireless peripherals seem to demand. A well thought out little keyboard for anyone who needs basic input and cursor control from across the room without getting up. ... show more

  • Great hobbiest keyboard Great hobbiest keyboard
This mini keyboard is a compact and practical controller for media setups, streaming devices, and small PCs. Its small form factor makes it easy to hold in one hand, while still providing enough keys for typing, navigation, and basic shortcuts without needing a full-size keyboard. The dual connectivity is one of its main strengths. It supports both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth, which makes it flexible across different devices like Android TV boxes, PCs, Macs, and streaming hardware. Pairing is straightforward, and the connection remains stable during normal day-to-day use. The built-in touchpad is especially useful for couch-based setups. It eliminates the need for a separate mouse and makes navigating menus, browsing apps, and controlling a cursor much more convenient. It’s responsive enough for general use, though not intended for precision work. The RGB backlighting adds a nice functional touch, especially in dark rooms, making the keys easier to see. The rechargeable battery is another practical feature, reducing the need for disposable batteries and keeping the device ready for regular use. Despite its compact size, it feels balanced and comfortable in the hand during use. Overall, this is a solid all-in-one input device for home theater systems and casual computing. It combines wireless flexibility, a usable touch-pad, backlit keys, and rechargeable power in a portable design that works well for living room setups and media navigation. ... show more

  • Compact Backlit Keyboard That Works Well for Media and Streaming Devices
This Rii X8 mini keyboard is a very convenient accessory for Android TV boxes, streaming devices, mini PCs, and home theater setups where a full-size keyboard feels unnecessary. The compact handheld design makes it much easier to navigate menus, search for content, enter passwords, or control media playback from the couch compared to relying only on a standard remote. The integrated touchpad is responsive enough for general navigation and helps reduce the need for a separate mouse. The dual wireless support is one of the better upgrades here. Having both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth compatibility adds flexibility across different devices including Android TV systems, PCs, Macs, tablets, and devices like the NVIDIA Shield TV. Switching between devices is fairly straightforward, and the rechargeable battery avoids constantly replacing disposable batteries. The RGB backlighting is also useful in darker rooms and makes the keys easier to see during nighttime use without being overly distracting. The keyboard itself feels best suited for short typing sessions, searches, media controls, and navigation rather than long-form typing, which is expected for this style of mini keyboard. The touchpad gestures and shortcut keys help streamline everyday streaming and HTPC use. Overall, this is a practical and versatile compact wireless keyboard for home entertainment systems, portable computing setups, and media center contro ... show more
