Description
Two paths have been pulling at our nation since the constitution was originally signed. One side believes the answers to our problems come from bigger, more centralized government handing down plans and solutions. The other side believes the answers are found closer to home. For over two centuries, these competing visions have shaped who we are as a country. How did we get here? Right Side Up is walk through the timeline of government formation, as it relates to our nation, and specifically to southwest Missouri. Farmers, trappers, miners, and homesteaders, didn't need or want a centralized government, and our war-torn, emotionally charged history shows it. As the land developed, so did the two-party system, slavery being the central cause we were willing to die (or kill) for. Over time, controlling ideology simply changed who was enslaved. Progressivism brought unconstitutional regulations and a plethora of three-letter organizations, taxation became rampant, and Uncle Sam became big brother. Today, we have two choices in front of us: one future where regular citizens, with the unalienable rights given to us by God, once again call the shots, and another where we surrender that responsibility to a permanent governing class. This is not just about politics or history. It is a question of to whom this country ultimately belongs. It's a climb, but it's possible to reclaim our country and turn it Right Side Up! Read more
