Description

The Vinum Pino Noir glass is excellent for full-bodied red wines (more than 12.5 percent alcohol) with high acidity and moderate tannin. This glass directs the flow of wine onto the zone of the tongue which perceives sweetness, thereby highlighting the rich fruit and tempering the high acidity of the wine. The large bowl captures all the nuances of the wine's aroma. Should be machine washed at min. 170° F/75° C Guided by the idea that "content commands the shape," Riedel of Austria consistently earns first place among the makers of fine wine glasses. The Vinum series is the world's first line of machine-made glasses formed specifically to suit varietal characteristics. Crafted to exacting standards, the glasses are 24-percent lead crystal with a beautifully balanced feel. They offer the taste-enhancing benefits of Riedel's hand-formed glasses without the top-shelf expense. Riedel designs the Burgundy glass to suit full-bodied wines with moderate tannin and high acidity. The large bowl is especially apt for Burgundy's nuanced aroma and controls the flow of wine onto the optimum part of the tongue. This set of two glasses is also suitable for serving Pinot Noir, Barbaresco, Barbera, Barolo, Gamay, and Nebbiolo. Each stem stands 8-1/4 inches high and has a 24-3/4-ounce full capacity. Washing by hand is recommended. --Emily Bedard

  • Classy
Very nice red wine glasses. We love them.

  • Can't beat them
Riedel is an excellent brand I have used for a long time. It compares well to other high quality wine glasses and they are pricey. This style has no lip and the glass is very thin. We have lousy water in our area so all our wine glasses have to be hand washed as the dishwasher just makes a spotty mess of them. I have had very good luck using the ecloth brand polishing cloth on Amazon to remove spots. I can get my fist into this glass to dry it well but have proven great care must be taken to not break them while washing and drying. Any red wine will do well with this glass so I don't make a religion out of matching the glass to the particular wine. It shows off the color of a pinot noir beautifully. If you need a nice hostess or holiday gift, a set of these would be appreciated by anyone who loves the whole wine experience. ... show more

As advertised, very nice design. Would buy again. For some unknown reason I received a refund I did not ask for for this order. Amazon, if you are reading this feel free to contact me about this.

  • Nice but too fragile!
I was excited to get these beautiful Riedel classes. The are a work of art to look at and they will make an amazing bell tone if you run your wet finger around the rim. I also like the way the bottom is flatter and fits nicely into my palm. I bought these to replace a Riedel red wine glass that we had for years before it cracked. We have a rule at our house: never wash the wine glasses after drinking and never put them in the dishwasher. This has worked well for years and was strictly followed with these glasses. So the morning after there first use I set about hand washing the glasses. In the drying process I used what I thought was a very light touch with the towel and one of the glasses shattered. I was shocked! These glasses are super fragile. I measured the thickness of the glass with a micrometer and found it to be 0.025 inch at the rim (a good business card is about 0.020 inch). I measured one of our older Riedel glasses and it was 0.035 inch at the rim. That 0.010 makes a big difference! ... show more

  • after using these it is almost painful to use other wine glasses
If you have ever thought a wine glass doesn't really make a difference in how wine tastes, these will definitely change your tune. I know, I used to think any old wine glass would do! However, after using these it is almost painful to use other wine glasses. The bowl shape of the glass and wider opening at top really brings out beautiful flavors in most reds. As a disclaimer, I am not a wine snob or connoisseur, but I do drink plenty of mid range reds (between $10-$30 bottles usually). In informal taste tests amongst friends and family, they can also taste a difference. I know they are called Burgundy glasses, but I mostly drink Cab's and Malbec's and I think they are worth every penny. However, as I mentioned above, I am not a super high end wine drinker or classically trained, so take this for what it's worth. ... show more
