Description

The Pinot Noir glass is perfect for light-bodied red wines with high acidity and moderate tannin. This glass highlights the rich fruit- forward characters and tempers the high acidity of the wine. The balloon- shaped bowl captures all the nuances of the wine's aroma. This product is made of clear crystal glass. Vinum is RIEDEL's basic varietal specific stemmed series. Designed in 1986 by 10th generation glassmaker Georg J. Riedel, Vinum was created to ensure every wine lover could afford varietal-specific glassware. Based on the handmade Sommeliers range, machine production means Vinum can be offered at a more accessible price. This item is premium machine- made. “PREMIUM” defines the advantage of a machine blown RIEDEL glass vs. a hand-made glass. The difference lies within the precision. This item is dishwasher safe. This pack contains 2 pieces. Perfect for these grapes Areni, Barbaresco, Barolo, Beaujolais Cru, Blauburgunder, Burgundy (red), Chambolle Musigny, Echézeaux, Gamay, Moulin à vent, Musigny, Nebbiolo, Nerello Mascalese, Nuits Saint Georges, Pinot Noir New World, Pinot Noir Old World, Pommard, Romanée Saint Vivant, Santenay, St. Aubin, Volnay, Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot Guided by the idea that "content commands the shape," Riedel of Austria consistently earns first place among the makers of fine wine glasses. The Vinum series is the world's first line of machine-made glasses formed specifically to suit varietal characteristics. Crafted to exacting standards, the glasses are 24-percent lead crystal with a beautifully balanced feel. They offer the taste-enhancing benefits of Riedel's hand-formed glasses without the top-shelf expense. Riedel designs the Burgundy glass to suit full- bodied wines with moderate tannin and high acidity. The large bowl is especially apt for Burgundy's nuanced aroma and controls the flow of wine onto the optimum part of the tongue. This set of two glasses is also suitable for serving Pinot Noir, Barbaresco, Barbera, Barolo, Gamay, and Nebbiolo. Each stem stands 8-1/4 inches high and has a 24-3/4-ounce full capacity. Washing by hand is recommended. --Emily Bedard

  • As ordered
The glasses arrived and were as expected. The delivery was fairly quick and the price for these wine glasses was very reasonable.

  • Can't beat them
Riedel is an excellent brand I have used for a long time. It compares well to other high quality wine glasses and they are pricey. This style has no lip and the glass is very thin. We have lousy water in our area so all our wine glasses have to be hand washed as the dishwasher just makes a spotty mess of them. I have had very good luck using the ecloth brand polishing cloth on Amazon to remove spots. I can get my fist into this glass to dry it well but have proven great care must be taken to not break them while washing and drying. Any red wine will do well with this glass so I don't make a religion out of matching the glass to the particular wine. It shows off the color of a pinot noir beautifully. If you need a nice hostess or holiday gift, a set of these would be appreciated by anyone who loves the whole wine experience. ... show more

Love these. Had a set and broke one. Bought these to replace and they were perfect.

  • Great glasses
My only beef is the price on these fluctuates like crazy. On to the glasses. I did a wine tasting that had you drink the same wine from different glasses. The varietal specific glasses make a difference.

  • Well worth the money
To those who think a good wine glass does not matter, try a simple test. Pour your favorite pinot or burgundy in a cup or tall glass, and then pour the same amount in this fine glass. I defy you to say you did not enjoy the wine more in this glass. The ability to swirl strongly and really bring out and then appreciate the full aromas is the main difference. The other primary difference is the thinness of this glass as you bring it to your lips. This concentrates the flow of the wine to the correct parts of your tongue, again increasing your enjoyment as you are able to discern more and complex flavors. The only down side to fine glasses like this is that you need to hand wash them to avoid any soap buildup and water stains. If you don't do that, you are going to waste your money very quickly. ... show more

  • after using these it is almost painful to use other wine glasses
If you have ever thought a wine glass doesn't really make a difference in how wine tastes, these will definitely change your tune. I know, I used to think any old wine glass would do! However, after using these it is almost painful to use other wine glasses. The bowl shape of the glass and wider opening at top really brings out beautiful flavors in most reds. As a disclaimer, I am not a wine snob or connoisseur, but I do drink plenty of mid range reds (between $10-$30 bottles usually). In informal taste tests amongst friends and family, they can also taste a difference. I know they are called Burgundy glasses, but I mostly drink Cab's and Malbec's and I think they are worth every penny. However, as I mentioned above, I am not a super high end wine drinker or classically trained, so take this for what it's worth. ... show more
