  • Unbelievable bargain - but don't use for whole-house... Point-of-use is ideal application.
Size: 12L
After failing to winterize my previous heater for my barn, I was forced to replace it. I chose this one because it appeared similar in size and connection layout. It was 1:1 and took me no more than 5 min to swap. Pros: 1) It's compact - pretty easy to find some wall space 2) it's cheap - this cost me less than half of what I paid for the original one, more than 3 years ago 3) it brings the heat - I can get very cold ground water (45-50°) to scalding hot with very little effort* 4) the stainless cover is attractive 5) The digital temperature gauge (even though it's only in °C) is nice to get a feel for how hot the water is without actually getting wet 6) you can plumb permanent hot water supply lines to the output (and toss the dinky shower head) Cons: 1) Display is only in °C - no big deal in my case. It's better than no display at all 2) Takes D-cell batteries (I modified mine to accept AA batteries) 3) Does not use NPT (tapered) fittings - instead it uses parallel fittings - with enough Teflon tape, this is not an issue 4) Using a standard LP regulator, performance is sub-par* 5) There is no proportioning/flow balancing - so water temperatures are very unstable if multiple fixtures are used simultaneously. 6) Must be protected from freezing (drain plug is easily accessed and requires no tools) My application is a single-point-of-use in a barn. The heater is located directly above the sink. While it does feed a single bathroom (with shower), it doesn't supply a whole house. As such, using it for a sink or a shower, it works perfectly - so long as no one flushes the toilet or operates the sink while someone is showering (rare in the barn bathroom). As water flows through the heater, the faster the water flows, the cooler the water will be at the output. Slow the flow down, and the water can jump pretty dramatically in temperature. This is typical of unregulated heaters like this. Know this limitation, and live within it, and you'll be fine. I would NOT RECOMMEND using this as a whole-house solution. *When using a standard fixed LP regulator (like those found on a BBQ grill), expect sub-par performance unless you really slow the water down to just above a trickle. I am using this adjustable regulator (search for this amazon PN B07YKRB1Q9). It will allow you to increase the gas pressure/flow to the heater. Be aware, however, that you can only increase it so much... too much, and the gas solenoid won't open when you call for hot water. You have to slowly turn the pressure up incrementally, each time testing to see whether the heater will fire up. You'll hear the burner get louder. Eventually you'll find the perfect pressure - low enough that it will fire on demand, but higher than a standard regulator. At that pressure, it'll make hot water even at full flow rate. At this price, if I lose it due to freezing (i.e. neglecting to winterize it again), it's not a huge expense. If you're looking for a remote point-of-use type heater, don't hesitate. This is a great heater. I've had two neighbors buy this identical heater and the regulator above after seeing the performance in my barn. ... show more

  • Great little unit.
Size: 12L
Great so far! I'm using this in an off grid hunting cabin with 1 bathroom,1 kitchen sink, dishwasher, washing machine and outdoor shower. I saw this model and for the price I decided to give it a try. I had been considering tankless for a few years but the prices were high. I wish I made the switch sooner! There are so many better reasons to go tankless. I found it easy to install. I had the thing up and running in about an hour. After using it for a few days I found MY optimal water setting, flow control, and flame setting which are the two knobs on the front. There is an on/off switch underneath the unit next to the water inlets and a bleeder valve. The other setting is for winter/summer and I couldn't figure out exactly what it does. I suspect it has something to do with either the flame/burn or the units ability to keep itself from freezing if left unattended/unused. None of this was a concern for me because I winterize in winter after each visit. The bottom line, EFFICIENT!! I open any faucet and the unit (battery operated ignition) click-click-click and FIRES up, and within a nano second I have hot water for however long I desire (until my well/tank runs dry, or I run out of propane.) I also have a short run, about 6 feet from my heater to any faucet. I do not advise using the hottest temperature setting as your body would not be able to withstand the heat. I run mine about half and the water reads aprox 38C or 100F which at 3.17gpm works perfect for my needs and water situation. I find this unit works best with only one hot water faucet open at a time, but I am only one person so this doesn't bother me. At a hotter temp setting the unit would handle more open faucets but you would need to play around and find your ideal setting. I am considering another unit for my pool house at my primary property because of how well this works, how quickly it heats the water, and it's efficiency. There is no wasted energy maintaining a tank. The digital display on the unit monitors water temp in Centigrade not Fahrenheit and only lights up once water is flowing through the unit. The unit is also surprisingly quiet when it's running, It will generate a good amount of heat and slight condensation (based on incoming cold water temp) so make sure it is properly vented. • Great product
Size: 12L
So we had a little hiccup in the beginning the 1st one came and the pressure valve broke which was not the senders fault it was probably beat up in transit when I spoke to sender they offered to send the part to fix and some of money or replace with a brand new one and as I didn't not want to wait for part and could not due to needing to take showers asap we choose to get another one and it came within a week and everything hooked up easily and works great in our tiny home. The product is so much better than the one we had and cheaper then the one we had and we are very much happy with them and the product. ... show more
