  • Hi 5, Old faithful, future classic
Color: Not Just Nudes
I like that this is exactly what it is supposed to be. This is the eyeshadow I have been using ever since they started making it about 30 years ago. I have changed but it has not. The color scheme is still exactly like it's supposed to be. (I notice that, because I always wish they would replace the lightest one whichb is beige with another dark brown one that is darker than the darkest one now. I have been wishing that ever since they started making it. The beige one pretty much goes unused.) But I am sure it was popular back in those days when everybody was going for shiny shadow and partying at discos. Everybody except me I guess. It would take more than getting my wish for a deep taupe cream eyeshadow to complement to go to a disco. Not to mention if I did get there they would card me and reject me for being too old! But no, they always stick to the same 5-color palette, and I have never once bought it and gotten a beat batch, when it was dried out or crumbly or even smeared on the lid. That is very important when you send away. This product is always very nice and creamy, does not crease or start flaking when you have worn it for a while, slides on smooth and comes off when you want it to with no struggle or drag. It's also very natural-looking, unlike many of the colors out there nowadays. One kit lasts a long time, and I just use my fingertip to pat it on. (Don't do that if you're sharing it. Your fingers are filthy.) Very nice little product. Thought went into the product and the package, and it is not wasteful. I would pay $1 more for a mirror in the lid but I can get by with this design. When these sets first came out, I remember wanting to scoop up every single assortment they made, because it was unusual to have these colors in cream form. I think Yardley might have been their only competition and everything else was powder that was a mess. I binged and tried four or five combos. I liked the set with violet and pink shades, and the one with a mossy green, but I don't know what they were thinking when they chose "complementary" colors to go with. I think one was orange. Yikes. That is not even acceptable for hazel or gray eyes. And I think really everybody got that beige I was complaining about. As a person with very basic, normal, medium brown eyes skewed just a little toward gold, like maple syrup, this is the best mix for me, and it is the most neutral of the kits so anyone can use it. When I was younger and my face was fuller, I found that I could also use this cream shadow for contouring around the bridge of my nose, as a cheekbone highlighter, and that old beige I was trashtalking works as under- eye concealer the under in a pinch. You could not get that much flexibility out if the other assortments where lot of the other sets because they are not colors that occur in nature, more exotic, but these basics work for that. So you don't have to carry much in your purse except this kit, mascara, lip gloss and a Maybelline eyebrow pencil. You are natural but done, and that whole combo comes in around $20 and takes up no more space than the eyeshadow compact by itself. Good to know you can still get a product you like and have liked for a long time at a reasonable price. No offense to Asia but don't waste your money on cosmetics from Asia. They are always, ALWAYS empty or dried out and stuck in the container when you get them, and unlike most Asian versions of products, they ain't cheap. So this American says get the same winner you know you will be happy with, over and over again until they haul you away. I guess this eyeshadow and L'Oreal Voluminous mascara are my version of my grandmother's Noxzema and my mother's "blue-red" (meaning true red) matte lipstick. A future classic. Always add a new color back from Revlon each season. Stays on all day, doesn't irritate my eyes, and leaves a beautiful shine.

  • natural neutrals; matte but not flat or dull
Color: Not Just Nudes
I have sensitive eyes. I am rarely able to wear make up for long before my eyes start feeling tired and itchy. I have tried multiple brands looking for eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, etc that won't contribute to my needing to take off my make up a couple hours after application. I went from typical store brands to more niche, specialty/high end brands, including 'all natural', and so on to no avail. After continue research, I determined that at least in regards to eye shadow, I should try a cream style, as it is less likely to have particles that will fall off into the eye. I decided to try Revlon, on a whim. Here is my experience so far: --The palette "Not Just Nudes" has four pleasing, natural colors. It leans matte, but isn't dull or flat. Any shimmer is minimal. Absolutely fine for day time. I have dark hair, dark eyes and a fair complexion. The darkest of the four works best for me applied close to lash line as a soft eye liner. The lightest color is surprisingly fantastic as a stand alone color when you want to just brighten up the eye area. It blended in with my skin tone so well that I thought it was going to be an unused shadow, but the brightening aspect has really turned me on for continued use. The second lightest (or next dark) color is a pretty neutral- adds some depth without looking made-up. The third color (or as I will clarify, the next to last in terms of darkest of the bunch), will further add definition, or if you have a skin tone or need/preference for a darker lid. Any of these could be used alone. For layering and blending, they work similarly to powder shadows. I recommend adding in a short, firm brush for application. I have used just my finger for single color application, and that works well enough but not for precise application. The mirror in this pot is spectacular. It is super clear and runs the entire length of the container. Another recommendation is to use a primer, or if your eyes can handle it, dust it with a powder first. Without this, the cream shadows will crease, especially with oily lids. Though a quick swipe of crease area through day will take care of it, and not totally remove color. Other than that, I did not experience any smudging or run off. My lids do not feel like they are wearing eye shadow. My eyes haven't been irritated by this collection, which is the one thing that will keep me from wearing make up or not. This color palette is very close to the one labeled, "Skinlights", which I also purchased and will review. It has more pink than brown, but still light and neutral. Picture included. Pallette on left is "Skin lights", Pallette on right is "Not Just Nudes" ... show more

  • Subtle colors
Color: Not Just Nudes
I’m in my 80’s with silver hair. Still care about my looks though. Really like the subtle colors in this kit to brighten and define my green eyes. Goes on smoothly with a brush and doesn’t tug on the lid. Recommend.

  • Great for aging skin/eyes.
Color: Not Just Nudes
Very impressed. Shadow had a hint of shine but not too shimmery for me. Very creamy. I bought the neutral palette. Very nice!

Color: Wild Orchids
NWow, the product is Quality. The color represented on the site is totally incorrect.I ordered wild orchids and and you can see in the attached picture the only one even close to orchid is the 2nd from the right.. One of the others I’d bronze and two are mauvish. Very misleading in pic and in name. Orchid is in the purple family. I will keep it for the one that is close to orchid but will not order again. Very disappointed. ... show more
