After years of wishing we could get out on the water, my partner and I finally decided to give an inflatable kayak a try. We took our new Retrospec inflatable kayak on a road trip to Fremont Lake, Wyoming, and it completely exceeded our expectations. The setup was incredibly fast and easy, thanks to the included pump. We went from "backpack to on the water" in a matter of minutes, which is a huge plus when you're itching to get paddling. The kayak itself feels incredibly sturdy and stable. This was a concern for us because our pup, Paisley, was joining us, and she likes to move around a bit. We were so impressed with how well it handled, even with our furry co-pilot. She was completely comfortable and we never once felt like we were going to tip over. The quality of the materials is excellent, and the kayak felt durable enough to handle some bumps against the rocky shore. It tracks well for an inflatable, and the adjustable seat made for a comfortable ride. The best part, though, is the pack-down. It deflates and rolls up so easily that it actually fits back into the carrying bag without a struggle. This kayak is a perfect solution for anyone who loves the outdoors but doesn't have the storage or vehicle space for a traditional hard-shell kayak. We had an absolute blast making memories with Paisley and can't wait to take this on many more trips.

I really like the convenience of this inflatable kayak. It’s very easy to set out and inflate with a manual pump. No more than 10 minutes of my time. Packing it up is just as easy. This takes such a small amount of space for transport and storage. I’ve only used it 4 times since I bought it but it gives the impression of quality and makes me think it will last many summers. It’s very stable when you’re in it on the water. I think my only complaint is that I would prefer it to be more rigid. It only inflates to 1.5 psi. You cannot stand up in while out on the water. But for the price this thing has been great!

I bought this kayak because it specifically mentioned that it was well suited to taking a dog with you. Aside from being wider than some others, I don't find it particularly well suited for a dog unless they are small and calm which would work in any kayak. The floor isn't extra reinforced and there really isn't much extra room in the single once you sit in it. I also bought it to kayak less than a mile between the mainland and an island town a little under a mile away, but the water has too many currents to make that possible in in inflatable. Overall this is a nice inflatable kayak , but don't expect it to ride like a hard sided kayak. When I go out with friends in proper kayaks they have a much easier time for half the effort. The kayak easily drifts in currents so you have to work to keep it straight and don't get much thrust per paddle compared to regular kayaks. For toodling around lakes and bays this is perfect though. I find it easy to haul around in its provided backpack and easy to clean. Setup takes me about 10-15 minutes from backpack to ready for the water and roll up a little longer because I have to dump water out and let it dry a little. The fabric cover means it takes a long while to dry so I often put it away wet and then unpack at home or leave the bag open in the car. The seat is comfortable and everything seems durable. My only complaint is that the paddle is too short to make it over the puffy inflatable sides of the kayak so I continually dump water on myself regardless of how I stroke. Totally worth having for summer fun and I am glad I got it even though it doesn't work for taking my dog or longer trips.

We bought this as a second inflatable to have when visitors come as an option to our Advanced Elements inflatable tandem kayak. The Retrospec Kayak looks nice, inflates well and feels like it would be quality, however, the seats are not very comfortable with regard to back support and moves very slowly through the water in comparison to our Advanced Elements tandem. Water has also leaked into the base after only two uses which speaks to the quality concern. Save yourself the hassle of the low quality kayak and spend a little more on the Advanced Elements…

Bought this for an upper peninsula Michigan trip and it packed in my checked bag just fine! I’m so glad I bought this for easy day trips on the water! Comes with everything you need but I suggest different oars because the ones that were included didn’t have a grip for hands.

This has been inflated and hanging from the garage ceiling along with the rigid plastic kayaks for 2 months now. It shows no signs of deflating. It's sturdy, has lots of room, and is light enough for me to haul around from truck to shore with no great effort. My only gripe is that I cannot figure out all the air inflation connectors other than the main chambers. I'm sure once I get them right just once, it will seem obvious, but some detailed illustration of how they fit together would have been helpful. The material appears rugged to the touch, and the bottom has a material shield that goes from bow to stern for added puncture protection. Seams are tight, consistent and show no signs of delamination or inconsistency in production.
