  • This was really plug and play
So I was doubtful that this was really a SD card ready to go for retro gaming but it is the truth. I studied what needed to be done to setup a retropi and this is money well spent on the hard parts. Yes there is a ton of games that are unplayable because you would need to take the time to setup dosbox make them more user-friendly. This is a great product to dip your toes or save your time. ... show more

  • Awesome
This arcade SD gaming card is awesome. Tons of games as described. Just keep in mind if a game does not play. You may need to configure to the correct emulator.

  • Great for plug n play
If you don't know what you're doing and just want to do an Arcade1up plug n play mod, this is a great image to start with. (or if you just want to hook up a Rpi4 to your tv) This is perfect to play with while you gather knowledge and practice for better builds in the future. The default emulator works for most games. If you come across a game that won't launch, don't fret. You can change the emulator for each individual rom. With that being said, some games still won't work, but there are thousands of games and many have different versions. You are bound to get one of them to work. The front-end is easy to navigate, broken down by console systems. Just wheel through the systems until you get to which one you want, go into that system and venture through the games. There are tons of games for all ages. Be sure to create a disk image for back-up before booting up. There are tons of tutorials on how to do it on youtube and this SD card comes with a sheet of instructions that tell you where to go for info. Would I buy this product again? No. I have learned what I needed to surpass this item. Am I glad I bought it? Yes. It was a great stepping stone that really helped me figure stuff out and entertained me along the way. I'm guessing if you're looking at this product, you are new to Retro-pie. By all means, don't second guess purchasing this. It is worth it. Even if you never want to learn more or upgrade later, this has hours upon hours of entertainment that can keep you happy for years. AGAIN.... • Won’t show previews of the games
One of the problems with this card is it won’t show previews of the games it has, not even a picture, as your scroll down the list of over 100,000 titles. That’s a lot of games to boot up and try to realize most you probably won’t interest you. You can’t seem to search the entire library, only search the system collection you’re on. So you have to go system by system to see if the card has the game you want. To get a lot of the games to work you have to change the emulator to run the game and see if it works. Keep trying to different ones and they usually work. To do this, as the game boots up, press any button, then select “Select emulator for ROM.” Select an emulator and then press launch. You also have to change the aspect ratio for most games to make it look right (some are stretched, some are squeezed). To do this, once in the game, press the coin or select button and the X button to get to Retroarch to change the aspect ratio. Go to settings-video-scaling-then aspect ratio and see which one looks best. Then go to Quick menu, overrides, then save game overrides to save any changes you’ve done to the game. Good value, just takes a little work and learning to get to some good games. You can also Asian which button for each game. Go to quick menu, controls, port 1 control, change your buttons, go back one, click save game remap file. Good luck. ... show more

  • Good, with a few problems
This is a decent, pre-installed Retropie for a Raspberry Pi 4. As a person who bought the RPi looking forward to a lot of the fun projects I've read about online but then found out it was far beyond both my patience and my skills to fiddle around for days to get any of them to work, I'm happy that there are people out there creating these. A few problems have made it a little frustrating: my controller doesn't work on some of the emulators, there isn't a way to reprogram the controller settings without rewriting the coding (far beyond my knowledge), despite the instructions that came with it saying you should plug a keyboard into it, I've tried multiple keyboards, and the system does not respond properly to any of them, and within this retropie system, there is no actual game save function, so the in-game "save" options don't actually do anything. Those problems aside, and acknowledging there may be some user error involved, I've had a lot of fun playing with some of the games on the system. If you're into playing around with a linux system, and you know a lot about how the software and hardware work together and how to tweak them, you might find this even more useful than I did. If you know absolutely nothing about messing around with computer hardware and software settings and you don't want to learn, don't even bother with a Raspberry Pi or one of these pre-loaded cards because it's not just a turn it on and go type of product. ... show more
