My husband is planning to retire this September. He is a software engineering trouble shooter, so every single day he deals with a LOT of problems. This hat is perfect for him. I sew and do a bit of machine embroidery so trust me when I say the fabric is a sturdy but soft denim type, and the embroidery is beautiful. All of the stabilizer has been carefully trimmed away from the back side of the embroidery (nothing to poke, itch, or pinch!) and there are no stray threads to catch and unravel. I did not wash the cap but I did rub it down in several places with a damp paper towel. No noticeable dye rubbed off (who wants a black dye ring around their head when they sweat?) Who could not want to wear a hat that proclaims a wonderful passage in life! It was a better quality than I anticipated. The grey/black washed denim was soft with a nice color and the embroidery stitching was very clear. It was a comfortable fit and the adjustable strap allowed it to fit a larger head. I bought a very similar hat last month for my soon to retire husband. He found it prematurely and loved wearing it. Loved it so much he took it on our recent eclipse-watching cruise and forgot it in the dining room on disembarkation day. So sad. So I ordered this cap as a replacement and will keep it well-hidden until he actually retires. This cap is a nice faded black denim and is very soft. The cap is large enough to fit his relatively large head and has a metal buckle adjustment in the back.
