  • UPDATE The best camera we've bought so far and we have several different brands !
Style: 5MP
UPDATE: I had recently got a new router, a Netgear Nighthawk and was having a problem getting the Reolink cameras connected back again but after much research......SUCCESS! I found a solution that worked for me, hopefully this info might help others too. After researching even more online I found a suggestion to try creating a guest wifi network on your router. So I gave it a try and it WORKED to get my 3 Reolink Argus PT cameras connected to me new router. Now while I feel like it wasn't necessary in my case to give the guest wifi network a password without any special characters I did it anyhow and used just numbers and letters (the cameras had connected to my old router with a special character in that password) Another point to remember is I think you need to have your phone on the same network when adding the cameras. Just checked and it seems you need to make sure your phone is connected to the guest network when wanting to access the Reolink cameras you connected thru the guest network. (now I have other brand cameras that I connect to the main network that I can still access when on the guest network but an indoor Reolink camera I have E1 that I was able to connect to the main network I can't access thru the guest network like the other brands. Now I did try seeing if I could switch the cameras back to the main wifi but it didn't work and I have to remove and reinstall the camera I tried it on and add it again to the guest wifi network to access it again. Well, I guess having to switch networks when wanting to go from the outside Reolinks to the inside Reolink is better than buying a new router or new cameras and I am simply thankful I could get them to finally reconnect as I was beginning to think I'd have to replace them with other brands of cameras. Original review: This is Karen's husband writing this review as I am the "tech guy" in our home. I am VERY pleased with how the camera is performing so far, so the 4.2 out of 5 rating seems well deserved. I admit I had some reservations when I read some of the reviews that were negative, in my opinion some may have been because of an individually defective product and some may have been due to lack of detailed enough directions. When I was first trying to connect the camera to our WIFI it wouldn't connect, then I realized I forgot to type in our WIFI password, DUH ! After I added the password it connected immediately. The camera is roughly about 85 feet from our WIFI router and goes thru 2 walls and still has kept connected very well. Also, we have Amazon Alexa and at first could not get Alexa to recognize the camera, so I did an online search for help and found a page on the Reolink support site with the steps needed to connect to Alexa, after reading that page I saw there was a step I didn't know about, once I followed those steps Alexa connected very well ! We can view the live camera feed from our smartphone app, from our "Echo Shows" via voice command, and even on our tv screens with Amazon Firestick (we have other brands of security cameras we view thru the Firestick also) so I can use a voice command and see different cameras on the screens including the Reolink camera, and I did not have to download anything to the Firestick, simply enable Alexa according to the directions on the help page I mentioned. I already had security cameras looking from our home outward, I wanted a wireless solar PTZ camera I could mount away from the house that I could turn to look at the house as well as turn to view other areas of our property not covered by the cameras we already had. So I mounted the camera on a thick (schedule 40) PVC pipe and mounted the solar panel on the very top of the pole, I used 3 hose clamps to fasten the PVC pipe to a 4 foot metal fence post I hammered into the ground, so far it seems to working very well. I will upload a picture of it. I do a lot of research before buying tech stuff, and it would be difficult to find ANY product that is perfect or that you might wish had more or better features, but for the features you get with this camera (including solar powered, PTZ capability, Alexa connectivity) I really can't complain for the price paid. Note: Remember this is not a commercial grade professional system, but commercial grade features likely cost much higher commercial grade prices, so again, for the price paid I really can't complain, I feel this camera does really pretty good for it's price level ! ... show more

  • Hands down the best camera I have ever owned.
Style: 4K 8MP
Incredibly simple setup. Beautifully designed user interfaces for both Win 11 and Android. Couple that to well thought out accessories for mounting the camera and a really solid camera. The image quality is excellent. I have the camera about 30 ft from my WIFI access point and separated from it by two walls. There is sufficient signal that I am getting perfect functionality. The solar panel seems to be working, but only time will tell if there is enough sunlight during a New England Winter to keep the battery charged. This makes me want to replace my other cameras with Reolink. This camera is not natively compatible with Homeassistant. It can work with Homeassistant using the Reolink Home Hub and the Reolink, Homeassistant integration. ... show more

  • Affordable and flexible security
Style: 5MP
Starting off, this device is great for a simple and somewhat effective security camera. With good usually has some negatives as well. Motion Detection: The motion detection is rather well as it picks up just about all the motion in front of it, to include much of it at night (we have street lights to assist). BUT it always seems to pickup as "vehicle detection" even if someone or something moves in front of it. It will pickup human movement but I never received any alerts of people moving around or animals or really anything outside of vehicles. Visibility: It is a 2K style camera, so clarity is great, although you have no optical zoom that helps you pinpoint objects from afar, it does have a digital zoom that I find terrible in all senses. It distorts the video beyond good use once you start zooming. So if you don't care about zooming in, picture quality is great. It does only roll at 15FPS though, so keep that in mind if you are looking to do some frame-by-frame reviews. Battery: This is good/bad depending on how you look at it. I find the battery to be rather positive for the size, capability and for me..where its located. I have it placed in an area which the Solar panel (as i purchased the bundle) has limited true light visibility. The battery will hold a charge for quite some time, even under my continuous live feed viewing of it. I don't' recommend keeping it on live view the whole time unless you have a good form of charging capability, otherwise it will drain the battery rather quickly. The solar panel provided does a decent job in taking even the lowest light and providing a form of charge, but it obviously shines in direct sunlight. Recording: The device supports up to 128GB micro SD, which can do an overwrite on older files and you can even do a timelapse video (only through the SD recording). You do have an option to push to the cloud (free w/limitations for one device). As this is the only device I'm using, of this sort, I am utilizing the free cloud service which does great. PTZ/Control: The PTZ controls are straight forward. Given you are remoting into the system through wireless capability so there is a slight delay and you can sometimes find yourself rotating or moving more than you planned. Small movements go a long ways, sometimes. Careful on freezing conditions as the device is not secured in a dome, so water and cold will cause it to freeze up and not allow you to move it. App: The app is straight forward and easy to use. Once linked up you can pull up, configure, control, review (SD and Cloud) videos, and get motion alerts. Not much negative I can truly say about the app, as its simple and easy to use for my needs. Wireless: I can't say much on range but i have had no drops in quality or service for where it's located, but I'm running a whole home mesh network, so its within decent range of that. It will allow you to operate it outside of the network (stand alone only) BUT you lose all the features that come in handy for this purpose. I would say if you were doing stand alone, just get a game cam. Audio: I live in a windy area, so i hear quite a bit of wind. You do have an option to shut off audio or mute it, but otherwise it does pick up the birds chirping, vehicles coming from afar and occasionally someone talking as they walk by. Limits: As this is a battery operated and cloud-based system, it does not support ONVIF, so the use of 3rd party software is out the window. This sucks for me as I like to tie all my devices into one piece of software, but I also understand with battery operated devices since most software like that does constant live feed and that wouldn't be effective for this device Overall: I give it 4 stars as I deem it high quality, for it's price. However, I find it rather high priced for it's quality. It does what it needs to and I have found it's alerts, live feed capability, free cloud recording (for one device), and just some of the features have made it better than Arlo or competing devices of similar type (Battery, cloud-based, wireless/non-dvr/nvr). It's certainly something I plan to keep and utilize elsewhere once I get my higher quality PTZ POE camera. ... show more
