  • Own, don't rent, this hidden gem!
Sometimes you have to fake it until you make it. This gentle yet wise tale explores what it means to connect with others in a lonely world. I loved the expressive acting, well-constructed storytelling, and thoughtful cinematography. Wholesome, but not hokey -- even the sex worker character is treated with respect. The comedic moments are so human and left me laughing. It's nice to know that even in Japan, in a culture so different from mine, that some of the same things are funny. This film is proof that movies for grownups can be made at a high caliber without veering into either saccharine or violent territory. Give it a watch -- you might find an unexpected connection. ... show more

  • Rental Family did not disappoint
Brendan Fraser did not disappoint. He has a remarkable ability to convey deep emotion. It’s a beautiful, heartfelt film with rich, well-developed characters. Akira Emoto was outstanding as the elderly, retired actor, bringing warmth, depth, and dignity to the role. The scenes and characters were vibrant, colorful, and truly memorable. We were still discussing the film days after watching it. It was especially interesting to learn that the rental family industry has existed in Japan for decades. 👍 👍 ... show more

  • Really good movie, really bad subtitles
Overall the movie was great but for some reason my subtitles were playing out of order. I could still follow what was going on but it was a bit distracting. That aside, the movie was really good and I'd recommend it to anyone who is on the fence about watching it.

  • Funny but Touches the Heart
Family Man is a warm, uplifting movie that blends romance and life lessons beautifully. It reminds us that love, family, and simple moments matter more than wealth or status—and it leaves you feeling grateful for what truly counts. ❤️

  • great movie but you need to fix the subtitles
fantastic movie but the delay on the subtitles almost ruins it there are parts that the delay is so bad a scene change happens then the subtitles show for the previous scene but the movie is great
