Description

This listing is for the standard edition version and does NOT come with a limited edition slipcase!Best friends since childhood, Ben and Jordan are two young men living in a rapidly changing Austin, where they navigate low-paying jobs, fraught relationships, and their own emotionally codependent friendship. When they suddenly lose their apartment, they come up with a last-ditch plan to spend the rest of the year “rent free.” They set out on a tragicomic journey across the couches, floors and guest rooms of their friends while desperately trying to save up enough money to leave behind a city they no longer recognize and flee for the promised land of New York City.Made with a satirical bent and an ensemble cast, RENT FREE is a high-anxiety comedy about a generation on the edge, as well as a poignant exploration of male friendship and a city in flux.Bonus Features: 1. Feature Commentary with writer-director Fernando Andrés, lead actor Jacob Roberts, and surprise guests from the cast and crew 2. Behind the Scenes Montage 3. Short film "KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU" written and directed by Fernando Andrés, Jacob Roberts, and Tyler Rugh

  • Hilarious New Take on the Buddy Comedy
WOW! I loved this. A hilarious and moving exploration of friendship and money issues. Every member of the cast is truly stellar. Comes with my highest recommendation. Watch this film!

  • B-A-D-D-D-D-D -- Must to Avoid!
The last time I saw a movie where every character had ABSOLUTELY NO REDEEMABLE QUALITIES was when I wasted my time and money on "King Cobra". Definitely a Must to Avoid -- unless you like to hear one actor somehow manage to insert the F-bomb into every sentence he mutters! I know there are reviewers on imdb who are simply going agog over this movie, and for the life of me I can't understand why. Maybe I need to be from Austin TX (?). ... show more

  • Queer American Indie filmmaking at its best.
Totally entertaining and quite funny - a different take on the complex relationship of a gay man and his bisexual best friend. Amazing supporting cast.

  • If HBO's Girls was about two Queer guys in Austin, Texas
Rent Free is an extremely funny and poignant film about friendship, how awful being in your 20s is, and how ridiculously expensive housing is. Worth the watch 100%, just be prepared for some characters who are truly awful people who are equally as hilarious.
