Description

The Remo Kid's Gathering Drum can be played with the hands, sticks, or mallets. Kids enjoy playing this big drum solo style but have the most fun when other kids (big kids too) join in the fun, inventing cool rhythm pattern all on there own. In every respect, this 22-inch-diameter drum surrounds you with the sounds of the jungle. The drum stands 7.5 inches tall on eight, wide, rubber-reinforced feet. On the outside shell, a kaleidoscopic menagerie of wild animals are on parade. Roaming through vivid foliage are a pink monkey with yellow ears and nose, a giant yellow and orange frog with green eyes and green and pink spots, a pink and red striped snake, an elephant, and a tiger. The drumhead looks like (but probably isn't) real skin, and is reinforced below with a transparent plastic membrane. And the sound? Not at all bad. Variations of hand and finger action produce lots of different beats. --Louise Carter P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer Gathering Drums are used to bring people together. This version by Remo is durable, colorful and fun for kids of all ages For centuries, the drum has been the heartbeat and soul of most traditional gatherings and ceremonies throughout the world. Native Americans consider the sound of the drum to be the heartbeat of the Earth and the embodiment of the body, energy and spirit of all living beings. Remo Gathering Drums are durable drums made in the tradition of fine handcrafted ethnic instruments, but constructed with pre-tuned heads and colorful drum shells. These drums are perfect for children, adults as well as group drum circles and gatherings. Gather the kids around, this drum is large enough for 2 or more players. Use the included mallets, or drum away with your hands or drumsticks. Your children will have fun playing this solo, but it's even more fun when others join in the fun. The colorful rainforest design coordinates with our other Remo Drums - put together a complete set. See more

  • Pow Wow WOW !!!
Style: Gathering Drum (22")
i bought this on sale for my son who turned one. i watched it for a long time and sprung for it when the price dipped down to sixty four bucks. i am so glad i bought this! we have the remo kids bongos, floor tom, and konga drum, and the lollipop hand drum and tambourine. we like hearing our three kids bang around. i would highly recommend this. it is pretty loud, of course. but you can put a pillow under it if you are getting a headache (LOL) and that helps a lot. either way, the sound is great- booming, naturally. but it sounds high quality and resonates well, not cheapo or tinny. it's like a pow wow drum. my husband really likes it too. we love to drum around some, even though we aren't serious drummers, there is something quite therapeutic about pounding on a drum. it is huge, almost two feet across. which makes it great for sharing as two or three kids can easily sit around it. the mallets are nice and my baby loves banging on it with them, it is easy for him to grasp them and bounce them off the drum and it sounds great. and he thoroughly delights in it, which is all i ever wanted :) this drum is awesome. worth every penny and i am thrilled i got it on sale, i think it was a bargain. seems very high quality and durable. i think this will last beyond my children and i look forward to keeping it for young and old, many years to come. ... show more

  • Awesome sounding. Built for play!
Style: Bongo Drum
Love the sound. Love the rainforest print. Had great fun myself playing these, and they work well on so many levels. Whether you have them between your knees, flat on the floor, using just your hands, or with the rainbow mallets from kids buffalo drums... ya just can't find something more fun and versatile. I have no doubt that my upcoming drum circles will find children and adults all having a blast! Remo just makes quality instruments. ... show more

  • Durable Musical Instrument
Style: Gathering Drum (16")
This drum is no crappy kids' drum. In my opinion, it shines in two major areas: Durability and Sound Disclaimer: The manufacturer recommends this drum for 5+ years olds. I'm just a bad grandparent. I bought the 16" gathering drum 6 months ago for my granddaughter's 1st birthday. I wanted something she would have fun with now and sturdy enough that maybe, just maybe, she would have years from now. I thought this drum had a chance and I was right. She climbs on it, sits on it, and so far after 6 months, no harm to her or the drum. But the most important thing about it (after her safety of course) is she actually PLAYS IT! They say in the description that it "produces a big, fun sound." Yep, that is correct but it's also what I would call a genuine drum tone with balanced resonance. Not a "boing boing" sound you get from plastic toy drums. This is an instrument that can produce music, not just make noise. Comes with two mallets with rubber ball tips. One of my granddaughter's is lost already. You might want to consider getting an extra pair. ... show more

  • Expensive, but fun and good quality
Style: Gathering Drum (22")
Very well made. Wish I would have purchased it when they were younger so that we would have had even more time with it. They could have just banged on it with their hands as babies. Mallets have endured a lot of rough play. We try to teach about vibrations and have loved putting tiny toys on it and watching them bounce off with the slow motion feature on a cell phone. It has also helped me to get them to count to 100 as they beat the drum. I really like the images, both inside and out, on the drum. The grips on the bottom of the drum are a great addition to prevent sliding on smooth surfaces. I would never have thought I'd spend this much on one item but it really is great quality and can be used in general play and not just as a drum. No regrets. I also like the large size (ours is 22 inches across) so that multiple people/kids can drum on it. ... show more

  • Happy Drumming
Style: Konga Drum
I purchased this drum as a Christmas present for my grandson (age 7) in 2016. He and his brother are kind of ruff on toys so I wanted to wait to see how the drum would hold up before writing a review. This past weekend, 3/26/17, he finally brought the drum with him when he came to visit. The drum is still in like new condition. He tells me everyone in the house plays with the drum. I was happy to see this is a durable product. It's a great little instrument that is easy to play. My grandson said he found videos on YouTube to help him learn. Since he brought it over, I began to play the drum myself and had a wonderful time trying to keep a rhythm. The bottom of the drum is open and the inside hollow. The walls of the drum are sturdy and beautifully designed. The top of the drum is also sturdy and the head of the drum stays firm. It's best to play it by holding it on your shoulder with the included shoulder belt or between your legs. That will give it the best sound. The sound has more of a professional tone than that of a toy. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Great addition to our Remo set
Style: Bongo Drum
5 year old has several other Remo drums, got this because she's big enough to sit them on her lap and they're portable and can take to the park. The print is becoming kind of babyish to her. I wish it didn't have animals, just a pattern. I googled how to bongo because you hit them in a different area than I had thought you did. Remo is indestructible, a music therapist turned us onto them 3 years ago. The only dud instrument was the drum that mimics ocean sounds, it's too loud, beads are annoying etc. ... show more
