  • Woo-hoo! Finally a camp shower that's not crap!
This is the fourth solar/camp shower that I've purchased, and the previous three were hot garbage that fell either fell apart or stopped working after ONE or TWO uses! A third one didn't even get ONE use, because it COULD NOT HOLD WATER! Well, as they say... Fourth time's the charm, right? (I'm pretty sure people say something like that), and I discovered this Reliance unit. I think the reason I didn't buy it before, was because I was put off by its 2 gallon capacity. I thought I needed something that could hold at least 3 gallons to be happy, but I was wrong. I discovered that you can take a thorough shower with a little less than a gallon of water. This shower is perfect for a single person, or a couple. If you have kids, buy two. You won't regret it! This unit is rugged and durable. The water container is made of hard plastic. You don't have to worry about it it getting cut, or punctured (not easily, anyway), or bursting, or leaking. It comes in a black (neoprene?) jacket that helps it get (and stay) hot... and boy does it get hot! The first time I used it, the water was shockingly hot! Almost uncomfortably hot... Hotter than any other solar shower I've ever owned (and I've owned many over the years). It was almost like taking a shower in the kind they have in houses! Except you're outside... and you're using a sink sprayer.... and the neighbors are looking at you all bent... (maybe that should have been in the first person) But seriously... The hand pump is simple and easy to use, and it doesn't take many pumps to get some strong water pressure. I think it's superior to a whoopee-cushion foot pump, and you don't have to worry about a rechargeable, electronic device failing on you... which it will. Forsake technology! Old ways are better! The sprayer is a garden-variety sink-type sprayer. No multiple spray patterns or anything... so what? It gets you wet with a good, solid spray (provided you pump it up enough). It does the job. The hose looks pretty durable too. Reliance is a Canadian company, which made me feel better than buying a product with a name that looks like it was spat out of a random brand-name generator. The product is made in China (like everything else), but it felt good to support at least a NORTH American company. So far, this thing's been working aces, but if I ever do need to call their customer service -knowing Canadians as I do (I'm part Canadian myself, eh), I'm sure they will be polite and helpful about it. After buying three solar showers that were all complete garbage and shouldnt be allowed anywhere but Wish.com, I'm so happy to finally find a well-made camp shower that actually exceeds expectations among all the flotsam and jetsam out there. And the simplicity of it is the best part. There's literally nothing to break, unless you throw it down a flight of subway stairs, or something. Stay away from fancy electronic pumps and whoopee cushions! Buy it already! ... show more

  • Just Perfect!
Update: 9/23/20 Thank you for keeping the price point real... back to the $29.99. Restoring my rating to 5 stars. -------------------- Update: 9/18/20 Took my rating down from 5 stars down to 3 because of the price increase... I just posted the review below a few days ago. When I purchased this on 9/08/20, my price was only $29.99, and as of yesterday, I see it is "currently unavailable" and the price went up to $53.26 which is a shame. Raising the price only places this portable shower into a larger competitive market which includes battery powered and USB chargeable showers which spray longer. You need to lower your price back down, because you are now pricing yourself out of your market because customers who spend around $50 or more have a much larger selection to choose from on that price point. It's not like you can't go on YouTube and watch videos on how to make one of these from a garden sprayer and a hose and sprayer. The reason I bought this is because the cost would have been about the same. Now I could make my own cheaper than it would be to buy one. So... you've just priced yourself out of your market. For the smart consumers who are the do it yourself type, they will (1) go to YouTube, (2) watch the videos and (3) make their own for $30 or under... or just buy a different shower that sprays longer, for the $50+ you raised your price to. -------------------- I received this yesterday, put it into use today. At first glance, I was afraid I would have trouble twisting the lid off to fill it because it was so tight, but there are two little stops built in on the left and right in the handle, so that makes it easy when you turn it to loosen or tighten. I have trouble gripping lids, so this was a big plus! Now for the pressure. I wasn't expecting too much based on other reviews I read, but I'll have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. It is not like a full pressure shower, but it isn't a slow dribble either. It is just right. There is plenty of pressure that comes out when you press the handle. How long did the water last me? I had enough to use for two people if you wet down, then wash, then press the handle to rinse again. This was another pleasant surprise since I knew it was only 2 gallons. Seems like the pressure makes the water go longer. The hose is long enough to sit the tank outside of the bathtub, and the shower spigot fits in my regular shower holder. I did remove the neoprene cover because I thought I would have to sit it inside the tub; however, I will not have to do that because of the nice long hose. It was easy to get ready. Just fill it with water. There are water marks on the side on a see through strip. Next, I pressurized it and sprayed some of the water into one of my cookers to bring to a nice hot temperature. Then I used a funnel and a cup to dip the hot water out of the cooker and pour into the tank. Over all, I am very satisfied with my purchase. The only improvement I would like to see is a wider opening that a canning funnel would fit into, because I had to use a small mouth liquid funnel for pouring due to the small opening. I measured the opening. It is about 1 3/4 inches. My canning funnel is 2 inches. That would make a big difference when pouring in the hot water. If it were 2 inches, I could just pour straight from my cooker. Not a deal breaker though. I plan on using this for all kinds of other tasks as well. Like watering plants, using it to wash my dog, and a quick spray for dirt on the car. I'm sure I'll think of lots of other uses. It's handy, small and you can take it along with you anywhere. I plan on using it when I'm camping. It's like all the convenience of a regular shower. The container is a medium gray color, in addition to the black neoprene cover. I had no temperature drop when I poured in the hot water and let it sit for about a half hour before I used it the first time which was without the neoprene cover. I plan on putting that back on now, since I know I can sit it on the floor just outside of the tub. Over all, I really like this. If you have a well and the electric goes off, you can still take a great shower. Thumbs up on my review. I compared this for quite some time before I made my purchasing decision. I looked at the Zodi, the Nemo Helio pressure shower, and the Rinse Kit Plus kit 2 gallon, but I went with the Reliance strictly based on cost. This is such a very affordable option. Thank you Reliance! Buy one, you will love it. ... show more
