A well-planned fairly easy to assemble shelving unit. EVERYthing was included, including gloves and a mallet. Having just moved in, I needed better shelving than what I brought with me for my two-car garage. This will fit the bill with solid shelves and reasonably light weight. My only criticism: include a wood block to use to strike when pounding down the supports. The metal is thin and can be bent fairly easy. A 4 inch by 1/2 block of scrap wood saved me a lot of effort and potential damage. In summary, a good buy at a good price point. I plan to purchase another in the near future. ... show more

It goes together easy and give you the tools and some anti cut gloves. If I had to nitpick it the shelves could be a little more solid. I'm not worried about there strength they are just a little thinner than I would like. Otherwise I have a bunch of stuff stacked up on it including my 3d printer. The first one we purchased took me less than an hour to build and then we bought two more and it went even faster! The manufacturer also includes gloves, rubber mallet and wall connectors with every shelf you buy and the finished product looks and functions as advertised.

    • It is "heavy duty", but much cheaper for a reason
Size: Black Large 17"D x 32"W x 72"H Color: Black
If you actually need Gladiator style heavy duty steel shelves, these are not for you. This item is listed alongside Gladiator shelving and does a good job of mimicking the look, but it is NOT simply a more affordable copy. The pieces are thin and VERY flexible before going together. This presents a mild challenge when getting the base assembled as the vertical pieces will fall right over (unless braced) until all 4 pieces are secured. This unit assembles easily enough, but doesn't give the impression you want from something listed as "heavy duty". You definitely want to wear either the gloves that come with it or your own as the pieces can cut into your skin when gripped tightly. You will also want to go back over each layer once all 4 sides are in and rehammer them back into a tight fit as they tend to slip upwards while adding the other pieces. It may not be very noticable at first but if you look you'll see that a section you hammered all the way down isn't fully seated any longer. The actual shelf pieces themselves ARE metal as it says, but hollow and mildly flexible as well. The description makes a point about there being 4 braces under each shelf but it should be noted that they are NOT separate pieces that the shelf rests on, as with other steel shelving. The "braces" are instead just molded on the bottom sheet of each shelf piece. The coated metal sheeting of the shelves is also a fairly low friction surface. I wouldn't call it slippery, but it wouldn't be hard for items to be knocked and slide off so invest in a roll of shelf liner. Again, not really what you'd expect from "heavy duty" shelving. Once together the unit does feel pretty stable. So far they have held up under the weight we have loaded on them. They are perfectly fine, but it does feel like a bait-and-switch with them being so prominently listed with a search for heavy duty steel shelves. ... show more
