The clunky prop-rod is always in the way, but after removing the prop rod and installing a Hood Quicklift System the engine bay is free from obstructions. All Quicklift Systems utilize progressive-rate gas springs that will lift and hold your hood open. Simply start to lift the hood with one hand and it will rise unassisted in a smooth and controlled motion
- Bolt-in System - This Hood Quicklift System is designed and engineered to use existing mounting locations for our vehicle-specific mounting hardware. Simple hand tools only, no drilling or vehicle modifications required
- Quicklift Plus (All Black System) - All installation hardware is designed to last as all metal is double-treated. Steel mounting-hardware is zinc plated, then black powder coated for both appearance and added corrosion protection. There is a 4 year warranty on all Quicklift Plus components.
- End-of-stroke-dampening - All gas springs utilize progressive-rate valving technology. Designed into each gas spring is an end-of-stroke dampening which slows the rate of extension over the final inches of travel. This feature reduces stress on hood and mounting hardware.

What I dearly Love about the struts is, the wrestling match with the Hood Support Rod is OVER! and I WON! What I didn't like was the attaching of the Strut Mounts to the hood. The measurements her are critical. Close doesn't count, like in horse shoes, lawn darts and hand grenades. I looked at several hood strut mounting videos, I tried the water marker pen, masking tape and duct tape throughout my process. Duct Tape (Originally DUCK TAPE when it was developed for the military during the Second War) and that seemed to be the cat's Meow for maintaining a position that would allow the loosening, mounting and tightening of the nuts on the hood with the least movement of the hood when both mounts were loosened. I reset the passenger side 3 times to get it to close and feel right, without the strut attached. (Probably inexperience hiad a large involvement in that) The Drivers side seemed easy. No washer line to move and no trimming of the gasket to remove the excess material, Duct Tape to more positively maintain the relative positions of the Hood and Hinge. I had no clearance problems there. The homework was done by Red Line with the struts. They allow the hood to be unlatched, then lifted a bit, then the struts take control of opening of the hood. Closing is easy, even with a hood that before needed to be dropped to get that latch to hold. I have Red Line Hood Struts on my other two vehicles, a 2020 Ford Escape, and a 2007 Ford Mustang Convertible. All of them took some wrestling with the prop rod and hood to get it secured open. Now, unlatch, lift a little and the struts do the rest, securely. One prop will hold the hood in the open position without any thought of it closing unexpectedly. Recommend the Red Line Struts to my friends and family, that I surely will.

Easy installation. Beats the heck out of the factory prop rid.
Good instructions. Took about 20 minutes to install. Very happy with the way the hood operates with these gas cylinders. Took a few extra minutes to trim the plastic out of the way when the strut all the way down, but seemed like a good idea to keep it from binding.

Work great
Love them, i now simply open the latch and the hood goes up on its own. Have had them for about almost a year now and they’re still going on strong, install is very straight forward and simple. Definitely would recommend

Worked Great on my 2017 Focus ST
It's a simple design made well. I've used these on my previous Mustangs, so I wanted it for my Focus ST. For anyone that works on cars a lot, the prop rod is more than annoying. I highly recommend this.

Get This One
I know what you are doing, you are searching through all the different brands and models for hood struts. Look no further. I did not trust the cheaper models that were generic and I was recommended for Redline. I got this installed in 15 minutes with ease. One of the clips did not fit on all the way, so i called customer support and they shipped me a new clip expedited same day! Plus this is a great strut system, pure bolt in so no drilling and it is absolutely perfect. Instructions are easy to follow. Get this one.

Put some spit on the strut attachment points
Good packaging. Could use a little paper or Styrofoam peanuts inside so the product isnt banging around in the cylinder. Install is straightforward and simple. Ran into a problem. One of the metal bands inside the strut joint that pops around the ball actually bent inwards and now i cant get it to come back out and the joint wont clip into place properly. For hoodstruts that are $50 a piece this sucks. Ive contacted redline and am awaiting a response. Will update if they respond. Update 10-25-18 brian from redline emailed me back swiftly, sending me a new end link to replace the damaged one. Gently rock the ends onto the tit and gradually apply pressure unti seated.

High quality set of hood struts
I bought a set of these when the hood prop retention clip broke on my 2012 Focus. Rather than pay the dealer $15 for a new plastic clip I figured I would just get rid of the hood prop entirely and replace it with struts like it should have had from the factory. Great fit and easy install. Everything appears to be good quality. Packaging is top notch. There are quite a few videos on youtube that show how to install these.
