Each of the four suspension arms on the blackout SC Pro can be used at any corner of the chassis. That's right, one lower suspension arm will work on the front-left, front-right, rear-left, or rear-right of the vehicle. The same is true for the upper suspension arms and steering hubs. My truck came with one loose shock cap and all the oil leaked out in the box. The mesh on the gears was way off and differentials had to get shimmed and filled with some proper grease. Once all that was fixed it was pretty solid, no issues so far. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that's not comfortable or doesn't want to work on it. If you want something that's going to work right out of the box, save your money and go with Traxxas, Arrma or other big name brands. There's also not a lot of aftermarket parts for it so your kinda stuck using Redcat parts. ... show more

I was excited to support a local business with a good rating. I ran NiCad electrics for years and decided my return to the hobby warranted moving to brushless LiPo setup. So impressed with the changes this brings to the hobby. I day dreamed about the tweaking I would do, in all honesty I dont have the space to have this run any faster than out of the box. The top end and responsiveness led to numerous crashes and other than a few scuffs in the paint, its built like a tank. So far I would say its nearly indestructible, which is so key. Historically, paying for repairs and waiting for parts to arrive is what drove me out of the hobby. I can see many years of fun in my future. The only thing I would change is get yourself a proper charger, the trickle charger it comes with takes too long to charge even the stock battery it comes with. I get they try to keep the costs down but nobody wants to baby sit a LiPo for hours, get a proper balance charger. Otherwise I see myself getting one for my kid and maybe even a second for myself to run different configs, street, off-road etc. Red Cat! If you need local product testers, sign me up!!!! UPDATE: Things have changed over at Redcat. All their product announcements are now for low riders and rock crawlers, if you are into off-road truck racing I feel you have been cast aside. Very few places in Phoenix seem to carry parts now and 3rd party upgrades are only vaguely noted if at all. Now instead of repairing I am holding out to move on to a tried and true manufacturer that is committed to off road. ... show more

I've run this truck for a few hours now. Charged the battery 3 times and ran it empty so far. The included 3200mah lipo seems to give me about an hour of drive time but I'm almost never at full throttle if you drive the truck harder I'm sure your run time will be shorter. Truck gets up to 32mph out of the box according to gps on a phone taped the the roof of the truck. First run out of the box I got some dirt stuck in the spur gear and had to take off the gear cover and clear it out. I taped up the area around the motor and spur gear with painters tape because there is a slight gap that made it easy for debris to get in there. I've only crashed it twice at low speed and flipped it once so I can't say whether it's super tough but I'm not trying to break it and so far so good. I've had an issue where the back bumper where the mud flaps are has gotten wedged inside the wheel. This has happened 3 times and makes the rear wheel hard to spin and I'm sure is causing stress on something. I've noticed it pretty quickly each time and fixed it and it hasn't seem to cause any permanent damage but I'm considering just cutting the back bumped guard since the sides with the mud flaps are so flimsy they aren't going to protect anything. All in all I love this truck. You can't find another brushless 4wd truck with a lipo included for under $300 and this is a cool $200. ... show more

Amazed at how much bashing this thing can take. I've had Traxxas Bandit VXL, HPI Savage Flux, and several kit Ofna's and Team Losi vehicles. It's not a dedicated track truck but with the right mods and tuning this thing will definitely not disappoint. Before you first use it make sure to "Blue" locktite the shock screws, bumper screws, and drivetrain screws. Basically anything that's metal to metal contact. THEY WILL COME LOOSE! Also even if it's waterproof try not to submerge it in water and keep water out of the reciever. If you know you have a fully charged battery in both the transmitter and lipo and don't see a flashing light coming from the reciever "little box that has the antenna" then its dirty/filled with moisture. And will not give you any response except a blinking light from the ESC. Other than what I mentioned this is an awesome all around street/dirt/short grass basher. Also the moment I had issues with the receiver I called Red Cat Customer Support and they were more than happy to send me a new one in the mail in 2-3 Business days free. Says a lot about a company when they stand behind their own products. Paired well with Zeee 5200mAh 2S 50C batteries. (35-50min) on a full charge with hard driving. ... show more

Such a great R/C car for an incredible price. It is a smile-maker. And the support has been excellent. You are calling Phoenix, AZ and talking to an expert who loves to help. One note: for $8, the steering horn can be replaced so the vehicle always tracks straight when setting the steering trim. It comes with a horn that has a weird clip to the steering arm. The new part fixes that completely. Don't let this deter you from buying this unit. We bought a Traxxas 7005 1/16 Slash with Brushed Motor from Amazon, which was nothing but problems. The Redcat Racing Blackout SC Pro 1/10 Scale is 4 times the car for the same price, and much faster and durable. Get it! Here are the part numbers you'll need for the steering horn change out, which you can by on Amazon: Redcat Racing part #02072 which is the Horn for $3.89 Redcat Racing part #02095 which is the short screws for the new horn for $3.89 Installation was a breeze, but call Redcat directly if you need excellent installation help. ... show more

The screw and bolt holding the suspension came off after driving it around for a mere couple Of hour but I somehow managed to find the insanely small pieces pretty fast. I fixed it and had no issues until a crash a couple of days ago and the same screw and bolt came out and I can’t find them. I don’t know why it’s only that side it happened to but I can’t find replacements online for it so I guess that’s the end of the car for now. ... show more
