Let me preface this review with a disclaimer. These boots will be a bit snug on first impression. They are made of very good quality leather and they are made to fit exactly to your foot. So make sure you get your size or a half size up. Don’t go smaller, you will regret it. They do require a short break in period. For me it was about a good 2-3 work days before they were good and broke in. Now, these are the most comfortable pair of boots I’ve ever worn in my life. I’ve never found a pair of Chelsea style slide on boots that I felt didn’t slip and slide around on my feet. These boots fit snug and securely like laced boots. I can run, jog, jump and do any number of activities and these boots are not coming off accidentally. The sole being super thick with wide lugs gives me a very nice and confident feeling climbing lifts, ladders, stools and other equipment.

Let me first say that I think these boots are going to be really great. I just got them yesterday, so I will update in a few months after I’ve had a chance to break them in and wear them. The sizing is incredibly confusing. I’ve also discovered that these boots run large. I wear a women’s size 11 to 11 1/2. Originally, I ordered a pair of Redbacks that have a size 9 on the cloth tag at the ankle. According to the size chart, this would have been a US 11 womens, or a 10 mens. I tried them on though, and they were huge. I decided to return them and bought an 8.5 Australian. I took out the insert and put in a pair of Dr. Scholls gel inserts to make them more comfortable. I’ve been wearing them around the house and they are comfortable, but I can tell they definitely need to be broken in. I am wearing them with a thin wool sock. I don’t plan to wear these for work in the winter and snow unless I can get a heated insert in. My plan for these is to keep them as more of a fall/summer/spring work boot.

My husband previous pair lasted over 3 years. He’s an auto mechanic and extremely hard on boots (and clothes). The boots are oil resistance, water resistant, shock resistant. The daily lower back pain he was experiencing is relieved. They are perfect in N summer and keep him warm in winter even though they aren’t insulated. Other expensive boots he’d wear out the soles in a month. Value for the money is worth it. He’s spent twice as much on boots that lasted only a few months. Customer service was spectacular. I was confused about the sizing. My husband’s old boots had a size 13 tag. So I ordered a size 13. He is a size 14/15 in US sizes. The boots I received has a size 12 tag. Customer service went above and beyond to remedy the problem. Make sure you order your actual size. A booth with a size smaller will arrive. That’s the difference between US and UK sizing. I knew I needed a US 14/UK 13. So I ordered what I thought was the UK 13 and a UK 12 arrived (which is s US 13).

My mechanic husband bought these since other guys at work swore by them and he loves them. He says they’re not the coolest looking shoes with his mechanic shorts but that is the only complaint he has had. Super great quality and comfortable. He bought his usual size and they fit great.

I work full time as a paramedic. I've done countless hours of research on "the best boot for EMS work." I came up with the two best boots for the job. The Hiax boots, or RedBacks. The Hiax get great ratings, but are bulky and cumbersome, I also didn't like their appearence, they are better suited as a firefighters duty boot. The RedBacks in the other hand are crazy comfortable, lightweight, and easy to slip on and off. I bought my first pair almost 10 years ago, and have never looked back. In those 10 years, I'm still only on my third pair....yep, they last 3+ years without an issue. My second favorite, have always been Danner's, however, they would only last a year or so before the soles wore out. My current pair of RedBacks are 2.5 years old and The soles look like the day I bought them. Shine them up with a little polish, and they still look fantastic. I've turned on many of my co-workers to RedBack who all have the same good things to say about them. Best EMS boot on the market, hands down.

I have owned and worn out 3 pairs of these boots over the past 12 years. They last and last. I work in commercial kitchens and they are great for this purpose. My nephew bought a pair for work, but his work as a correctional officer meant he sometimes had to run in them. They aren't great for that because they tend to be somewhat loose fitting. My issue with the pair I recently received from this vendor is the size. I ordered 9.5 Australian (10.5 USA equivalent). I received 10.5 Australian (11.5 USA equivalent). It's the second time in a row that this has happened. FYI vendor. Australian sizes are not the same as American sizes.
