  • Mediocre and I mean that in a good way
Flavor Name: Prepper Pack Bucket - 52 Servings
I nabbed this bucket to taste-test the meals and report what I found about the taste, as I taste them. I hope to keep this updated as I try them (currently 12/4/2022). So far, I've had the Stroganoff and the Southwest rice and beans. First thing's first (and as others have mentioned): the meals are NOT packaged individually. You get a LOT of stroganoff, or a LOT of Orange drink. If you order this bucket, I would advise tossing in a measuring cup and a handful of rubber bands so you can portion and repackage as-needed. Also, keep in mind that the portions are around 300 calories, maybe half of what most red-blooded americans would consider as a small meal. This is not a deal breaker - you are expected to be living pretty lean given the circumstances these are meant to be used in. NOW ON TO THE MEAL REVIEWS The Stroganoff: very salty to my taste, as well as having clumps of non-constituted powder (that might be a me issue - mix well!). I would recommend using actual boiling water to prepare this - I used hot water from the tap and it was certainly *edible*, but I can only describe the texture of the noodles as being "Al Dente" if I'm being charitable. It's not bad, but I'd only be happy to eat it in the emergency situation it's meant for. 3.5/5* - fills its intended role very well. Southwest Rice and Beans: also quite salty, but it's a more pleasant flavor than the strog (in my opinion, of course). It's "meh" at best if you're comparing it to an actual meal, but I think it would be pretty pleasant to eat if, say, you were isolated for an extended period of time for whatever reason. Again, I hope you have means to truly boil water in an emergency, because this one came out of the prep still unpleasantly crunchy for a Beans'n'rice dish (read as "even slightly crunchy"). 4/5* - despite my snark, I think it's not bad. Use boiling water and mix well. That is all for now, I hope I can edit this comment with further reviews down the line, otherwise I will reply to this review. Happy Holidays! • These exceeded our expectations!
Flavor Name: Emergency Pack Bucket - 120 Servings
These were better than expected for MRE'S ...we took them on our road trip to save money from eating out. They made ALOT of food! We would reheat the leftovers the next morning for either breakfast/lunch. We did "doctor them up" with some extra cheese and seasoning but they didn't need alot!

  • Not returnable! Check the packs right away!!
Flavor Name: Gluten Free Bucket - 84 Servings
I read many reviewers mention that some of the packs had holes, so I was sure to check my bags immediately upon delivery. The delivery box was fine, and the bucket itself was fine. No damage at all. Inside my gluten free box were all gold plastic packs. The packs are all multiple servings, 6 or 8 servings. As I pulled out the packs, I noticed several had some powder on them, and the bucket did have some orangey powder on the inside as well. The orange powder smelled like ramen flavor pack. Examining the packs, I found that the teriyaki rice packs all looked like they had small punctures, and one had a definite tear , about 1/4 inch. I guess this recipe has some really sharp pointy ingredients that can puncture the bags when they vacuum seal it. The tortilla soup bags had some pokes. The yogurt bags were fine and the potato chicken pot pie bags were fine. My gluten free box has no meat in the recipes, so I guess I can just put the questionable bags in a vacuum seal bag for extra protection since they are supposed to be freeze dried. They should keep ok (I hope!), but not for 25 years. You cannot return the food!!! And I was not able to find a contact phone number or email for the company. If you have issues with your box, contact Amazon customer service directly so they can help you. Another thing about the instructions included for reconstituting the food. The multiple serving bags of meals say to use 6 cups of water for the whole bag (which is 6 servings), but for the yogurt, it only says to add 1 cup of water for whole bag of 8 servings?? I guess I'll only know when I try eating it... I don't know why the company doesn't read these reviews and respond to the repeated complaints of torn bags inside the buckets. They need to come up with a better way to keep these ingredients sealed to last for 25 years as they claim. I purchased in September 2024, and all the components of my box were labeled as April 2024. ... show more
