I tried the whole "store what you eat and eat what you store" and it's a pain in the ass... Expecally when you have people in your house that don't share your theology of being prepared. So I changed up my game plan and decided that the wise foods/mountain house (they are owned by the same parent company, so essentially they are the same product) was the best route to go. I looked into piece mealing a 30 day food supply together and by buying things indivually but the food alone was going to be around $450.00 before storing it. And I wasn't going crazy wirh designer means I'm talking rice, beans, oats, ect. Off amazon I pick up the 120 dinner and 120 breakfast buckets and for about $375 I have basically a months worth of food for 4 adults which I believe will likely take my young family of four a little bit farther expecially because I have a lot of rice stored away as well but that's a whole other article. I grew up eatting C rations and the first generation if MRE's that my father would bring home from the field, and the past 14 years I've eatten unumeraratanle amount of MRE's and I have to say the wise food/mountain house foods taste as good if not better than what our fine troops all over the world eat so I give it 5 stars.

Ordered these as an emergency food source and so far haven't needed them which is a good thing but the thought of not going hungry in an emergency situation is very comforting.

Very misleading description. First off, there is nothing freeze-dried in the whole bucket. Instead of buying this expensive product, go you your supermarket, buy granola, oatmeal, etc. in bulk, put it in vacuum-sealed bags, and get a five-gallon bucket with a lid and you'd have the same thing for a lot less. Second of all, it is billed as for hiking and camping, but forget it for backpacking because many of the cereal packets require lengthy cooking, which would exhaust the fuel rations of most serious backpacking trips. Finally, the bucket came with four packs of pancake mix, which is not accounted for at all in the listing of the meals. There may be a few maniacs who pack pancake griddles into the back country, but I'm not one of them. Finally: NO RETURNS FOR THIS ITEM!
