I've been an RC hobbyist for over two decades but never bothered getting an RC airplane. Flying things just seemed very inapproachable. The steady march of technology has made RC aircraft cheaper and more durable so I finally decided dip my toes. Overall, I am very impressed with the usability of this little aircraft. It flies pretty fast, turns well (though not sharply), and it flies for a solid 10 to 12 minutes on a charge. Best of all, I haven't broken it yet, which is surprising given how many times I have landed abruptly. I do recommend that you fly it in a wide open space. It doesn't turn very sharply and, even if it did, I do not think beginners will have the skill to navigate around obstacles. Bottom line, this is a fun toy and a good introduction to RC planes. ... show more

I'll try and post a video later. It's a blast to fly. Even my 11 yr old can fly it. It does move fast so you have to be on your toes. Not for very young children. Batteries charge quick. It's simple and easy to fly. You have to connect the plane to the frequency of the control. To do this: 1) You turn the plane on, it's red power light is flashing. 2) On the controller, first, turn the throttle all the way down, then turn on the controller, it's red light is flashing. 3) On the controller, push the throttle all the way up and back down once. Both red lights, on plane and controller, should stop flashing and be solid. If it doesn't work, do it again, in that order. 4) Once lights are solid, on controller, push the throttle all the way up and throw the plane and off it goes. Throttle on left, turn left and right on right hand side of controller. It's made of Styrofoam, so light-weight and takes a beating. Little motors are strong and it flies well. Not super responsive. The only NEGATIVE I have is that it is the Chinese Air Force jet. They are not a good air force, especially compared to the U.S. ... show more

I tried out this foam rc plane in the park and was pleasantly surprised. It has plenty of power and will continue climbing until you let off the throttle which lets it glide gently down. You can then turn the plane left or right fairly sharp and continue flying. I wasn't able to do any loops but I did get it briefly stuck in a tree. The props are strong enough that I could wiggle the plane left and right til it freed up and glided down. The battery life does last about 10 minutes, maybe you can get more from gliding. The range is probably better than I expected, I had full control 100 feet away, where I was flying. The price seems fair for this plane, similar to the foam ones I'd buy over a decade ago. ... show more

    • Great, Easy, Fun Plane for Beginners - Way more fun, durable, and flight time than I expected

I had really low expectations for this because product videos usually make things look easier than they are -- but I was pleasantly surprised! This plane is so easy to fly that it makes it fun to spend some time outdoors and easily just "tinker" around while flying the plane. My wife, who has no hands-on flying experience, could fly the plane with no problem. I'm not a good judge to say what age would be too young, but if they're old enough to consider it, they are probably old enough to fly it. I happen to be a general aviation pilot, so I did find myself wanting to be able to control pitch -- but the tradeoff of super easy flying made it worth it. One good tip is that you don't need full thrust once you launch the plane, making the battery last longer and keeping the plane lower and easier to see when flying. This was my first entry into any RC plane, and it made me want to try my hand at a slightly more advanced model... but this was much fun. I am looking forward to trying it at night with the LED strips. The battery life was way longer than expected, and they provided two total. I wish I had thought to time how long the battery lasted, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was about 20-30 minutes (with no wind and no LED strips). Per the directions, charging each battery takes about 30-40 minutes. So if you have 3-4 batteries total, you could fly just about non-stop. ... show more

I think I had more fun than my kids playing with us. We got a lot of flying time, and even though we are all terrible at controlling drone-style flying things, this was a lot of fun and we were able to do some strategic landing.

We have enjoy d playing with this thing quite a bit thus far. It’s only getting 4 stars because it did break the first day. One of the motors came unglued and I had to reglue it to the wing. That’s ok though. I’d kind of expect that with something like this that’s going to take a lot of abuse. And they seem to have designed it with that in mind. ... show more
