I ran 24VDC through a photocell first, then to the motion sensor to ensure no daytime trips. The sensor emits a low green light when on standby. When motion is detected, the sensor energizes the lights and flashes green as motion is detected. Right out of the box, the factory settings seem appropriate, with the sensor shutting down after 1 minute with no motion detected.

I learned this device is protected against reverse polarity. Black is, inexplicably, DC+ input, white is DC - input, and red is DC+ output. Once I realized there were no power LEDs, I checked my wiring colors, and seemed right. Only once I flipped the wires out of the way did I see the legend on the back, where it shows the proper wiring. I assumed I'd killed the unit, but thankfully once wired according to the legend, it worked. Once that issue is dealt with, it works fine - it detects motion well, detects lack of motion well too. The buttons make it easy to configure, and I really like the fit & finish. This is a great sensor, just needs to do a better job of matching best-practice color coding.

Extremely well made and so far has held up to being mounted in a wake / wake surf boat where it doesn't get wet per se but it is somewhat exposed (installed on the roof of the OB storage compartment). I am trying to automate and trick my Supra boat out even further by making routine and expected tasks easier and less reliant on the need for a second person or the need to explain how to do anything to someone else as it's pretty much getting to the point where the only thing that isn't automated is the driving of the boat part. I used this sensor, in combination with the factory LEDs so that when motion is detected on the boat or specifically in that area as that is where a significant amount of high dollar, expensive components live...that it kicks of first a lighting routine and then dependent on where the very accurate (and adjustable sensitivity) PIR sensor detects that motion or a person presence is...sends me a notification as I don't want my expensive battery, "boat brains", or large amounts of stereo equipment to find legs and walk away. The manual is easy to read, in plain english, without choppy parts that make you fill in the gaps, The overall sensor is very easy to not only install but incorporate into existing wiring, or new wiring...and it's small size can certainly find place almost anywhere you need to install it. Installed on a ceiling or another white surface the colors are very true to white and most people wouldn't think it was anything more than a motion sensor....if it was even noticed at all. I have found several products from this company that I like and I am building my collection. So far the support I've received when I had a technical questions was lighting fast, legible, and it only took one reply to get the answer I was looking for confirmation on. As a straight up....how does this function? As a highly accurate, well contained, slim-line compact PIR sensor...I don't see how any other sensor could do the same job any better! I appreciate the feel and function of the plastic and the way that it is configured it's not like trying to install a light fixture or ceiling fan where you need this or that to get it stuck up proper. If you need a PIR, remember this is a 12/24V version, and look no further!

Purchased this to control lights in an enclosed work trailer and as replacement of a different sensor that lasted only 3 years. The 9 lights are powered by a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery that is connected to a Norco Genius 10 charger that charges the battery when trailer is connected to shore power. Just received and installed today and wiring and set-up is very simple but, so far, the only drawback that I've experienced is that the sensor does not notice any movement until I'm just a foot or so away although I have it set to high sensitivity. Not a deal breaker but, the other, less expensive sensor that I had previously, would pick me up as I walked toward an open door.
