I have a 3 car garage and I mounted one of these directly in the middle of the garage (9 foot ceiling). I was hoping it would be sensitive enough to turn the lights on as soon as the door going into the house was opened (about 12 feet away) but it required stepping out into the garage to activate. I tried both sensitivity levels and I did not notice any difference. So, I ordered a second sensor and placed it right outside the door, about 3 feet away, and wired the 2 sensors together in parallel (same as wiring a 3-way switch). Now it works perfectly. The lights come on before the door is opened enough to walk out. And the original sensor picks up the door leading to the back yard as well as the big garage doors. ... show more

    • One of very few 120V motion sensors with an "off" setting for the lamp cut-off during daylight.

Great features! I wanted to motion-control a lamp over an entrance door from the garage to the kitchen. This door is situated in sort of a nook that gets only dim light from the glass in the garage doors during the day, making it hard to see the key hole on the door lock. However, it is sufficient light to activate the light shut-off on any "regular" motion sensor device. This device gives you the option of different lux settings, including a very important "off" setting, meaning that it works strictly as a motion sensor without shutting off the lamp light during the day time. No more struggling to find the keyhole. I set the device for 30 seconds "on" after any motion stops. In case you wonder: I looked at battery operated, motion activated "key hole lights", but decided no to go that route. Ratings were poor! ... show more
